Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 308 - 212: 212_2
"I didn’t."
"Dare you say you didn’t kiss him on purpose?"
Julian Fairchild: "..."
"Who asked him to say he wanted to kiss you first?"
"He’s just a five-year-old kid."
"But he’s still a boy."
Maeve Lane: "..."
She pulled out two tissues to wipe Jace Keane’s tears, "Didn’t you say you wanted me to have a son for you? Would you also be jealous of your son in the future?" 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
This question happened to remind Julian Fairchild, and he said without thinking, "Then let’s not have one."
Maeve Lane said, "Are you sure?"
"Yes," Julian Fairchild replied decisively, without the slightest hesitation.
Maeve Lane: "..." Never try to guess a man’s mind.
Jace Keane was carried to the back seat by Maeve Lane. Under her gentle comfort, he finally broke into a smile.
Julian Fairchild deliberately asserted his presence, sitting rigidly between Maeve Lane and Jace Keane, ensuring Maeve wouldn’t completely forget his existence.
And then this scene unfolded.
The man was holding the woman in his left arm, with a little boy sitting by his right side. The boy was not afraid of the man at all, naturally leaning on his leg and talking to the woman.
The young master’s face wasn’t particularly pleasant, but because of Miss Maeve Lane, he managed to resist the urge to toss the little boy aside.
Strange yet harmonious.
Miles Hughes thought through the rearview mirror, maybe this would be the scenario if the young master had a child in the future.
...
The car stopped on the uneven ground.
On the dirty street, such brightly dressed people were rare. Passersby even carefully turned their bodies to avoid getting dust on the shiny car body.
Maeve Lane got off the car holding Jace Keane, Julian Fairchild was about to follow her out the next second but was held back by Maeve Lane, "Wait here for me, otherwise it’ll be troublesome if you’re recognized."
Miles Hughes chimed in, "Miss Maeve Lane is right. Given the situation now, if you and Miss Maeve Lane go down together, plus Jace, it’ll be bad if it gets revealed."
He already imagined what the headlines would be.
"Shocking! The popular movie star secretly has a child!"
"Maeve Lane exposed for having a child out of wedlock!"
Just the thought gave him a headache.
Julian Fairchild nodded slightly, "I’ll be here, call me if anything happens."
Maeve Lane nodded, Jace Keane clutched her sleeve, a hint of fear appearing on his innocent face.
She frowned slightly and looked towards the place Jace Keane mentioned.
Could it be true, what he said?
Yet, a five-year-old child, where could he possibly do a paternity test?
A normal five-year-old might not even understand how to register at a hospital.
As they reached the door, they could smell the alcohol inside even before entering.
Maeve Lane knocked on the door. There was no reply.
Seeing lively little Keane suddenly quieten down, obediently resting on her shoulder, his tiny hands tightly gripping her clothes like a little lump of glutinous rice, a complex emotion swept over her heart.
If the people inside weren’t his parents.
Then could she possibly...
There was still no response from inside.
But from the attic on the other side, someone poked their head out, "Jace? Who is this?"
"This is the pretty sister I just met."
"Oh, I see. Are you looking for your dad? He left angrily after receiving a phone call last night and hasn’t returned yet.
I think it’s best if you don’t come back for now, otherwise if he sees you, you’ll get another beating." His words carried a touch of sympathy.
Jace Keane said, "I’m not afraid of him, he can’t catch me now!"
Maeve Lane’s eyes turned cold, "Beating?"
"Ahem, anyway, you won’t find him now. I reckon he went drinking with friends again, he won’t be back until he’s drunk for a few days."
Maeve Lane had lost the will to listen further. It was unimaginable, that Jace Keane had grown up in such a harsh environment.
"The father Jace is talking about, is it this person?"
The neighbor replied while wiping the window, "I don’t know about that. This child doesn’t look anything like his dad, more like a little young master from a wealthy family, Jace’s mom never showed up either."
He joked, "I used to joke, maybe this child was tricked here by him."
"Do you have his contact information?"
"No, I used to have it but even if I call he won’t answer. If he does, he’s drunk, not much use."
"Jace, do you have it?" Jace Keane hesitated for a moment but answered truthfully, "...Yes."
Maeve Lane dialed a number according to the digits Jace Keane provided.
But the phone rang inside the door.
It’s obvious, this man didn’t take his phone.
"Jace’s dad is such an irresponsible father, even if he’s related by blood, it’s as if he isn’t. What a pity for such a clever child like Jace."
Maeve Lane slowly clenched her left hand into a fist. This time she stood at the door in silence for a long time.
