Mr. Fairchild's Rose: She is Wild and Proud-Chapter 341 - 223: Zane Payne_2
But Mila Miller actually recognized her belonging the first time she saw it.
Today Maeve Lane’s outfit had shallow pockets, and she didn’t want Sarah Sutton to see it, so she kept it in her pocket for emergencies.
Perhaps she accidentally bumped into it when she retrieved the chair just now, and then it fell.
But Maeve Lane wasn’t in a hurry to answer. Instead, she calmly picked up the medicine bottle that had fallen on the ground and said indifferently, "You saw wrong."
Mila Miller gave a meaningful smile, "I’ve done that too. When medicine is disguised as candy, even poison tastes sweet."
Maeve Lane didn’t reply, just gave her a cool glance.
"Don’t be mad, I was just casually asking. If you don’t want to say, I won’t force you."
"Could you force me?"
Mila Miller smiled and changed the subject, "We met once a long time ago. You might not remember me, but I remember you."
And that memory has lasted for many years.
Her hand placed along the edge of the bed slowly clenched.
"Is that all you wanted to say?"
"Yes."
Maeve Lane had no interest in continuing the conversation with her and had already placed her hand on the doorknob, "See you, get well soon."
"Thank you."
As soon as the words were spoken, Maeve Lane was already out the door.
The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
A few minutes later, the door creaked open again.
"Mila, how are you?"
It was Mila Miller’s agent; it seemed she hadn’t gone far, and she came in just as Maeve Lane left.
"I’m fine." Mila glanced at the IV above her head and said with a smile, "Why did you come back?"
"I was worried about you!" Hopper furrowed her brow, "Who knows what that Maeve Lane is up to with you. You’re just too kind; if you hadn’t stopped me earlier, I would have revealed the truth!"
Mila Miller’s smile caught the fragmented sunlight outside the window, looking somewhat delicate, "As long as we don’t do anything wrong, we don’t fear their tricks."
"It’s outrageous! We just met her today, who knows how she got hold of your information and dared to say things to provoke you!"
"Keep your voice down." Mila Miller sat up straight, "It’s not good if others hear this."
Hopper glanced out the window and quietly lowered her voice, "I was only speaking the truth..."
"She will get her comeuppance sooner or later," Mila Miller said slowly.
...
In the temporary meeting room, Director Osborne stood in front of a small blackboard, continuously writing down key points for the shoot with a marker.
Gradually, everyone had arrived.
At this point, everyone gathered around Mila Miller to express their concern.
"Why come if you’re not feeling well? Your assistant could have taken notes for you during these meetings."
"So dedicated, but health comes first."
Maeve Lane sat opposite Mila Miller. Sarah Sutton, sitting beside Maeve, also got up to express her concern, "Did the doctor say you need to rest for a few days? An acute asthma attack can be very dangerous."
Mila Miller’s gaze passed over Maeve Lane and Sarah Sutton’s faces, with a slight smile, "It’s alright, the doctor said just to be a bit careful, and since my scenes are relatively calm with no intense action, it’s fine."
Sarah Sutton nodded, then leaned closer to Maeve Lane and whispered, "This Mila Miller is quite modest. I’ve seen too many unknown stars who like to act all high and mighty."
Maeve Lane smiled faintly and said nothing.
Director Osborne tapped the blackboard and said with a smile, "Today is everyone’s first meeting. You should all be familiar with each other by now, right? Maeve Lane, come up."
Maeve Lane pulled out her chair and walked up to the stage.
"This is Maeve Lane. She may be unfamiliar to some, but to most of you here she would be considered a ’junior’. However, everyone should not underestimate this young lady. She won the Best Newcomer Award this year, and she resolved the copyright issue for ’Southern Mountain’," Director Osborne said with a proud tone.
"I’m sure you’ve all met Mrs. Roland. It was Maeve Lane’s charm and acting skills that won her over, and that’s why we’re all able to sit here today!"
As soon as those words were spoken, everyone present looked at Maeve Lane with a subtle change in their gaze.
They all knew how difficult Mrs. Roland was to please.
Money, she wasn’t short of it, and from casting to adaptation, even to the production team, all needed her approval.
Yet, even several directors and producers didn’t dare to breathe a word!
Because she simply didn’t lack buyers.
Maeve Lane greeted everyone with a calm demeanor.
"So, regarding what happened today, I hope everyone refrains from discussing it further and doesn’t spread rumors online," Director Osborne smiled as he looked at Maeve Lane, then turned to scan the room with a slightly stern voice, "Otherwise, you’ll have to bear all the consequences your personal actions cause to the crew."
