Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling is Multifaceted!-Chapter 266: Seraphina Redgrave Is Captured
"Miss, you don’t need to worry, Young Master Sterling is always there."
Nathan Ayers took a moment to glance at Seraphina Redgrave through the rearview mirror. Seeing her expressionless face, he worried she might be troubled, "And also the members of The Defiance Society, once I settle you down, I’ll think of a way to rescue them."
Seraphina Redgrave didn’t speak, her mind slowly sorting through all the recent events.
Sharon Quinn was exposed, Melody Lockwood and Young Master Finn were found with their throats slit, the jade bracelet shattered, Mia Redgrave appeared suddenly... All these things connected, like an impenetrable net.
Wrapping her tightly, leaving her not a single chance to escape.
Now, she didn’t even have the opportunity to reveal all of Veridian Isle’s secrets.
Too coincidental, everything was too coincidental, the timing just right, not awkward enough for her to notice, only to realize when it all erupted at the end.
Thinking about this, a chill crept into Seraphina’s heart. She tugged at her numb lips, "Special Assistant Ayers, I think I’m done for."
She had exhausted every thought, meticulously planned every step, and yet, it all turned into a huge joke, a fleeting illusion.
No matter how tough the road ahead, she wasn’t afraid, as long as she could overcome any obstacle through effort, she didn’t care about the pain endured.
But this time, she saw no hope for the future.
Originally running fast forward, about to reach the finish line, only to find the path blocked suddenly, she could neither advance nor retreat; she had lost the way back.
"Miss, don’t think too much, with Young Master Sterling, nothing will happen to you."
Nathan Ayers tried to calm himself down, intending to offer more comfort, but was shocked by the situation ahead.
"Screech—"
Nathan Ayers stomped on the brakes, the tires skidding on the ground with a loud noise.
The car came to a stop right in the middle of the road.
In front of them were numerous police cars, densely parked, flashing red and blue lights, officers quickly stepping out, drawing guns from their waists, aiming squarely at them.
Nathan Ayers took a glance back, finding that aside from the closest few cars, all the rest were police cars.
There was no escape.
How could they be so precise?
Had someone studied their escape route in advance, hence the timely arrival?
This realization made him panic.
Nathan Ayers gripped the steering wheel tightly, sweat beading on his forehead, he pulled out his phone, dialing a number, "You intercept the police cars, secure us an escape route, if Miss is taken away, none of us will survive!"
Seraphina Redgrave listened to Nathan Ayers issuing commands, her fingers slowly tapping on her knee.
Three.
Two.
One.
With the countdown over, the car’s audio system suddenly connected, and a familiar voice sounded out loud inside the car.
"Nathan, stop running, I know Classmate Redgrave is inside."
It was President Miles Harrington.
His presence didn’t surprise Seraphina Redgrave at all, she finally understood.
After all, such a grand plot needed a big figure pulling the strings at the center, otherwise, how could the net be woven?
Nathan Ayers was clearly unprepared for Miles Harrington to figure him out so fast, sitting stiffly in the car, seemingly unwilling to get out, then Miles Harrington’s voice came again, "After receiving an anonymous tip, I learned about Ethan Sterling’s relationship with Classmate Redgrave."
"..."
"Nathan, let’s have a chat."
"..."
"Get out of the car, I won’t harm her for now."
"..."
Nathan Ayers still sat there stiffly, caught in a dilemma.
"Special Assistant Ayers." Seraphina Redgrave looked at the man with his back straight in front, speaking softly, "You’ve already done a lot for me."
No matter how tightly protected, it can’t withstand the meticulous scheming of someone with ill intentions.
This time someone wanted her dead, how could she escape so easily?
"Miss, Young Master Sterling..."
Nathan Ayers genuinely didn’t know what to do.
He wished to help Seraphina Redgrave escape, but now faced with a wall of dark gun barrels, the idea seemed futile, forcefully tearing a way through might cause irreparable harm.
"Nathan, from today, I have nothing to do with Ethan Sterling, remember what I said."
Seraphina Redgrave spoke these words with extreme calmness.
After speaking, she opened the car door and decisively stepped out.
The police outside, seeing her appearance, immediately moved forward, surrounding her tightly.
Seraphina Redgrave looked at their uniforms, then up at the azure sky, at this moment, she felt a connection with Zachary Zane’s thoughts that day, despair yet powerless.
This despair didn’t solely arise from Melody Lockwood, but because they were originally innocent, yet the world could not accommodate them.
...
Due to the peculiar nature of Seraphina Redgrave’s case, the police did not take her to the station, instead she was escorted directly to a place called The Directorate.
The Directorate, a nice-sounding name.
Upon arrival, Seraphina Redgrave realized it was Z Country’s specialized interrogation bureau for special prisoners.
The Directorate felt immensely oppressive, without windows, only long, endless corridors flanked by bulletproof walls, essentially a fortress, truly a place for interrogating formidable individuals.
The gray and black environment was suffocating.
Seraphina Redgrave sat in the center of a room on a chair, hands and feet shackled, the slightest movement causing an ear-piercing noise, discomforting. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Seeing such grand arrangements, Seraphina curled her lips.
She still had such capabilities, able to warrant a solitary transfer to The Directorate.
"Come clean and we might show leniency, tell us, why create The Defiance Society, what purpose did you have entering The Law Council? Besides those from The Defiance Society, who else is assisting you?"
In front of her sat five interrogators dressed in dark blue uniforms, staring at her viciously.
Seraphina Redgrave sat there, her gaze skimming over the cold handcuffs, then she lifted her eyes and asked, "I think you ought to go directly to Miles Harrington, see how he intends to handle me."
A man sneered, "You’re quite the brazen little girl, coming to The Directorate, be ready to suffer, don’t think it’s like your Defiance Society here, you have no authority to command anyone."
After speaking, the man drew a gun and pointed it at Seraphina Redgrave’s forehead, "You must confess all your plans, what else have you done, tell us clearly! Also, how many people escaped from Veridian Isle, you must come clean."
