Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 203: He Might Kill You
Audrey Sutton sat on the hospital bed, watching Shane Warner push the door open and walk in: "The doctor said youβve been looking for me since you woke up?"
As soon as Audrey Sutton saw Shane Warner come in, she lunged straight toward him, hastily saying, "I was kidnapped."
Shane Warner walked up to her, reached out to pat her head, and reassured her, "Itβs over now. Youβre safe." ππ£πππ ππππ¨π―ππ.ππ¨π
He gently embraced her, sat down at the bedside, and lowered his head to ask her, "Do you remember what happened at the time? Who took you away?"
Audrey Sutton shook her head, "I didnβt see anything. I passed out and donβt remember. How did you find me?"
Shane Warner didnβt answer her question but asked, "Have you interacted with any strange people in the past few days?"
Audrey Sutton thought carefully, "No, I just went shopping with Flora in the afternoon and didnβt run into any strange people."
"What about Simon Sue?"
Audrey Sutton was taken aback. She vaguely remembered seeing Simon Sue while she was unconscious, but had little impression of it.
"I havenβt seen him since the holiday ended, but this afternoon when I was out with Flora, I saw him filming a TV drama. Do you suspect him?"
"When I found you, he was with you."
"He was with me?" Audrey Sutton pondered for a couple of seconds and murmured, "It shouldnβt be him, right? He has no reason to kidnap me, and I donβt think heβs someone who would do such a thing."
After calmly analyzing the situation, Shane Warner also believed Simon Sue wasnβt the mastermind behind all this.
He wasnβt quite clear on what kind of person Simon Sue was, but he felt Simon Sue wouldnβt need to use force to get Audrey Sutton to such a place. He could just sweet-talk her a little, and Audrey Sutton might go to meet him.
After taking Audrey Sutton home, Shane Warner noticed her lingering fear during the journey, so he stayed at home to accompany her.
Faye Xavier called to say that Simon Sueβs statement at the police station was that he was also tricked into going to the hotel. As for who did it, he ambiguously said he didnβt know and didnβt recognize them.
The hotel room was booked with Audrey Suttonβs phone. Judging by the booking time, it was booked after she was kidnapped using her phone. All the room information was in Audrey Suttonβs name, and Shane Warner found her based on this information.
When asked, the hotel staff said two girls brought Audrey Sutton to the hotel.
Later, the police found those two girls through surveillance; they were two sophomore students working part-time at a nearby cafe, who confessed: "A guy asked us to take the girl to the hotel, claiming they were friends and the girl was drunk. He asked us to help and gave us each five hundred bucks. He gave us the money at that time, and seeing how generously he paid, we did as he said and took the girl to the hotel room and left."
As for who the man was, their descriptions were vague, and he was also wearing a mask.
The meeting location seemed deliberately chosen by the man, down a lane in an old neighborhood, without surveillance.
The car had fake plates, and no owner information has been found yet.
The clues seem to have hit a dead end.
Shane Warner sat smoking on a sofa by the bedroom window, connecting everything to Lan Irving based on his suspicions.
Itβs indeed possible that Lan Irving planned something this meticulous.
But currently, thereβs no direct evidence linking her to all this.
Yet he knew this woman couldnβt stay. Even if she wasnβt behind it this time, something will happen sooner or later.
During the last funeral incident, he let her off considering she was the one hurt, and Shane Warner didnβt expose everything, allowing her to remain in Starfield, but it now seemed Lan Irving was likely aiming the blade at Audrey Sutton, which he couldnβt tolerate.
Around one at night, Faye Xavier left the police station, drove to Lan Irvingβs building, went straight upstairs, and rang the doorbell.
Lan Irving seemed to be still awake, as the door soon opened.
Faye Xavier stood at the doorway watching her. She was wearing a wine-red robe, holding a half-burnt cigarette between her fingers.
"What brings you here so late?" Lan Irving spoke first.
Faye Xavier glanced at the cigarette in her fingers and asked in a steady voice, "Since when did you start smoking?"
Lan Irving chuckled lightly and casually replied, "In recent days."
"Picking up bad habits." Faye Xavier reached out to take the cigarette from her hand, walked into the room, snuffed it out in the ashtray on the coffee table, sat on the sofa, and said to Lan Irving, who had closed the door and was walking over, "Youβve been getting close to that guy surnamed Yan lately?"
Lan Irving sat down across from him, asked with self-mockery, "Shane Warner sent you, right?"
Hearing her call Shane Warner by his full name, Faye Xavier frowned slightly, watching her display obvious abnormality.
"He sent you to inquire about that womanβs matter, suspecting it was me, right?"
Faye Xavier remained silent for a moment and said, "You have no idea why he might suspect you? Whether itβs the plagiarism incident last time or the one at the funeral, you think Master Shane truly knows nothing?"
Lan Irving sneered, "Yes, I did it. Including todayβs events, all done by me. I just donβt want to see him ruined by a woman."
"Ruined? Since getting married, anyone can see Master Shane is very happy; he cares about his little wife a lot. Yet you still keep pushing his boundaries. If it werenβt for my influence, do you think Master Shane would still let you have good days?"
"It doesnβt matter." Lan Irving grabbed the pack of cigarettes from the coffee table, pulled out one, skillfully lit it with a lighter, took a puff, and relaxed on the sofa, saying, "Tomorrow Iβll personally hand in my resignation letter to him. After so many years, I followed the wrong person."
"Resign? Do you really think knowing it was you, Master Shane would resolve it as simply as resignation?" Faye Xavier paused, then spoke more harshly: "He might take your life!"
Lan Irving chuckled lightly, appearing indifferent to life or death: "A worthless life, he can take it anytime he wishes."
Ever since he said she should die with that woman, her heart has already died.
Faye Xavier frowned with disappointment in his eyes as he looked at her, "Lan, when did you become like this?"
"What do you hope for then? To be a lifelong hard-working servant, and at the end be unjustly condemned to death for saying the wrong thing?"
"I said, Master Shane has been merciful to you! Donβt keep taking his tolerance as an excuse to act recklessly; you donβt have the right!"
"Thatβs why I said, I accept whatever he decides to do."
Faye Xavierβs eyes held a trace of heartache looking at her. He hoped she would turn out well, he tried his best to help her, but she went astray, and he didnβt know if it was partly his fault...
