Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!-Chapter 677: Flora Lane Is Going to Be a Mom
Flora arrived later than Audrey Sutton. When Audrey received her results, she was about to go to Flora for her checkup.
Audrey Sutton was already starving and suggested finding a nearby restaurant to wait for Flora and then join her for a meal.
Standing in the elevator, Audrey Sutton started scrolling through her phone, undecided about what to eat for lunch.
Shane Warner was holding onto her the whole time, too lazy to nag her about not using the phone while walking, just guiding her and holding her tightly.
"What are you doing here?"
Hearing Shane Warner’s baffling question, Audrey Sutton finally looked up and saw Heath Holloway walking in through the hospital’s main entrance.
Heath Holloway chuckled: "Hey Cousin, Cousin-in-law, you guys are here too?"
Shane Warner, like a teacher catching a student skipping class, questioned: "Why aren’t you at work, what are you doing here?"
Heath Holloway: "I took a leave from my second cousin, my buddy’s in the hospital, so I came to see him."
Heath Holloway then slightly pulled Audrey Sutton aside and asked: "Sister-in-law, can I ask you something?"
Audrey Sutton never had a good impression of Heath Holloway, feeling he always troubled Shane Warner, so she frowned and questioned him: "What serious business could you have?"
Heath Holloway: "Do you have Vanessa’s contact info? Did she move? I rented an apartment in her neighborhood during New Year’s, right across from the building she lived in. Haven’t seen her for days, and the store owner at the convenience store said he knew Vanessa but hasn’t seen her in a while either."
Audrey Sutton had heard from Jasmine Lucas that Vanessa seemed to have moved, yet she replied to Heath Holloway: "What’s that got to do with you? Why did you move to Vanessa’s neighborhood? Don’t bother her!"
After saying this, Audrey Sutton returned to Shane Warner’s side and reproached Heath Holloway: "Keep your head down and work hard, stop causing trouble for your cousin!"
Heath Holloway looked aggrieved: "I work really hard, okay? Ask my second cousin, I’ve never been late!"
Shane Warner, holding Audrey Sutton, squinted at Heath Holloway: "I’ll visit your department later and ask your supervisor."
Heath Holloway: "Go ahead, ask. My supervisor even praised me during the morning meeting today! I’m done talking with you guys, I only took a two-hour leave."
Recently, Audrey Sutton had been texting Vanessa, and Vanessa had been replying to her messages.
However, something felt odd about Vanessa recently. Audrey Sutton asked several times where she was and what was happening, but Vanessa always avoided the question, and the tone of their conversations had changed.
Previously, Vanessa had plenty of topics to chat about, and their exchanges would go on for quite a while. But lately, Vanessa often replied simply, and she’d only respond after several messages from Audrey Sutton.
Audrey Sutton bought a box of dumplings to fill her stomach at a breakfast shop near the hospital, then went to a homestyle restaurant, ordered some dishes, and waited for Flora and the others to arrive.
While waiting for the food, Audrey Sutton tried to contact Vanessa again. After a few minutes without a reply, Audrey hesitated and called her.
The call went through, but was quickly hung up. Shortly after, Vanessa texted back saying: Not convenient to talk now, will call you later.
Audrey Sutton called Vanessa because a thought suddenly crossed her mind that the person she had been chatting with wasn’t Vanessa.
She realized that they’ve only been texting lately, and she hadn’t heard Vanessa’s voice.
She recalled scenarios often shown in news reports where the phone owner was killed, and the perpetrator used the phone to pretend the owner was still alive.
The thought made Audrey Sutton uneasy.
However, Vanessa said she’d call later, so Audrey decided to wait, hoping she was overthinking.
After waiting for about an hour, Audrey Sutton finished the cold cucumbers, and Flora and Lucian Quinn arrived at the restaurant.
Even without hearing the results, the smile on Flora’s face and Lucian Quinn’s cautious demeanor told Audrey Sutton that Flora was going to be a mom.
During the meal, the two women naturally began discussing parenting tips.
As they chatted, Audrey Sutton suddenly asked, "Flora, Lucian, when do you plan to have the wedding?"
Lucian Quinn hesitated with his chopsticks, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said: "We actually just discussed it in the car. Flora said she doesn’t feel heavily burdened yet, and her belly isn’t very big, so we’re thinking of picking a nearby date."
Flora smiled and said: "I don’t plan to make it too grand, just invite a few of you, as long as the ceremony is there."
Audrey Sutton understood Flora’s family situation, knowing that Flora probably doesn’t intend to invite her family to avoid trouble.
It was only eleven-thirty, not quite lunchtime yet, so the restaurant wasn’t crowded, and it wasn’t a fancy place where the staff outnumbered the guests.
Midway through the meal, Audrey Sutton dropped her chopsticks, saw no server around, and tapped Shane Warner: "Can you get me a new pair?"
Shane Warner gave her a look and got up to retrieve sterilized chopsticks for her.
While returning, a figure suddenly appeared from behind a partition wall in the restaurant, inadvertently colliding with Shane Warner.
Even before Shane Warner spoke, the girl looked at the takeout box in her hand and angrily said: "Don’t you have eyes?! The soup spilled because of you!"
Shane Warner frowned, glanced at his clothes, relieved that the soup hadn’t spilled on him.
The girl seemed in a hurry, and seeing the bag wasn’t torn, she swore again and dashed out before Shane Warner could say anything.
Audrey Sutton looked at Shane Warner, then at the girl who had run outside, mumbling: "What’s with her? She clearly bumped into you and even cursed. If she wasn’t so young, I would have argued with her."
...
After a twenty-minute bus ride, it was almost noon when they reached the hospital.
"Knock knock—" The door to the pediatrics office was knocked.
Evan Sutton, who was tidying up the case files and preparing to leave, looked at the door of the office, saw no one, and lightly responded: "Come in."
The office door was gently pushed ajar, revealing half a head.
Seeing that only Evan Sutton was inside, Hannah Sue immediately swung the door open and slipped in with a grin.
Upon seeing who it was, Evan Sutton’s expression instantly collapsed, and he asked: "What’s wrong again? Come in the afternoon, I’m off now, but you’d better go to the adult department..." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Hannah Sue interrupted him: "I’m not here for a check-up, I came specifically to find you."
Saying this, she shook the takeout box in her hand: "I came to deliver food to you, thankfully I made it on time, or I would have missed you."
