Chapter 768: Chapter 768: Shameless Scoundrel

Upon hearing Lance Quincy’s words, Audrey Sutton said, "Lana hasn’t agreed to Six yet, you know. Quincy, if you really like Lana, you should compete fairly. It’s about time Six got a lesson for that foul mouth of his."

Lance Quincy nodded and smiled, "I’ve agreed with Lana that we’ll start as friends, so if that guy doesn’t put in more effort, where the flower falls in the future is still uncertain."

Laura Yates sighed lightly, "Lana is actually pretty easy to court; she’s easily satisfied. Just treat her a bit better, and she’ll follow you wholeheartedly."

Audrey Sutton: "Yeah, if Six could just wise up a bit sooner, Mom wouldn’t need to worry about her little apprentice being snatched away by someone else."

Phoebe King: "Mom says she’s not afraid of Lana marrying someone else, but truthfully, she’s worried sick deep down."

Audrey Sutton teased, "I think Mom would rather exchange Norman Sutton as her son for Lana as her daughter."

Laura Yates: "I hope Six shows some ambition and talks less."

Norman Sutton ran outside but couldn’t find any trace of Lana Holloway, and when he called, she hung up on him, and after that, he couldn’t get through.

He thought that if he took the plunge, he’d get a happy ending, so why does everything seem more complicated now? Does Lana hate him that much?

Back when they were abroad together, he thought Lana relied on him quite a bit.

He wandered around the exhibition hall, but still didn’t see Lana Holloway, leaving Norman feeling quite frustrated.

He left the art show alone, weighed down by worries, aimlessly wandering the streets.

His mind was a chaotic mess, and he still hadn’t processed that slap properly.

What kind of pointless days were these anyway?

He had sacrificed his pride, knelt, and proposed to Lana Holloway, yet she slapped him and stormed off.

Isn’t that the kind of "treatment" you get when a rogue teases a girl? What is he to Lana Holloway? An unabashed rogue?

In his anger, Norman Sutton even thought to himself, if Lana Holloway doesn’t come to apologize, he’ll never speak to her again.

After calming down a bit, Norman knew deep down that hoping for Lana Holloway to apologize was a complete fantasy.

He just couldn’t figure out if it was his proposal method that was wrong, or Lana Holloway was just too eccentric.

Usually, when a girl is being proposed to, even if she’s not so into the guy, she’d show a hint of coyness. Even if not agreeing, she’d at most politely decline.

Who gets that mad, anyway?

As the sky darkened, Hazel Yates called to ask Norman Sutton where he was out fooling around again.

Norman Sutton returned home like a deflated ball, harassed by the words from Audrey Sutton and the annoying women, and nagged endlessly by his mom.

Adding another wall to his already blocked heart.

He ate only a few bites of food before returning to his room, staring at the computer screen, holding the mouse but without a clue what to do.

Sitting dazed in front of the computer, his mind all muddled with disorderly thoughts.

"Ding——"

The phone chimed with a text message, Norman lazily glanced at the phone screen, scanning it briefly, he saw the word "Lana".

He immediately grabbed the phone and looked at the message from Lance Quincy: "Are you just giving up after being rejected? Not chasing Lana anymore?"

Norman Sutton was already troubled by not being able to find Lana Holloway, then he suddenly thought of the auction tonight, Lana would definitely be there, maybe she was with Lance right now.

Thinking this way, Norman Sutton quickly typed a line over: "Is she with you?"

Lance Quincy quickly replied: "Yeah, on the third floor of the venue. It’s up to you if you want to come. You’re my rival, giving you the heads-up is already very gentlemanly of me. If you don’t show some fight, don’t blame me for stealing your sweetheart."

Norman Sutton didn’t even focus on the latter part of Lance Quincy’s message. After confirming Lana’s location, he promptly went downstairs, and just like this morning, hurriedly went out the door.

Hazel Yates scolded again, "Where are you going so late? Was a whole day out still not enough for you?"

Norman Sutton, putting on his shoes, replied, "I have something to do."

Audrey Sutton, smiling meaningfully, said to Hazel, "Mom, Six is out early and back late, maybe he’s finding you a daughter-in-law outside, just leave him be."

Norman Sutton didn’t even think of retorting, changed his shoes, and immediately left.

Hazel Yates dismissed it, saying, "If he doesn’t change his ways, it’d be a miracle if he finds a girlfriend."

Norman Sutton arrived at the venue, and with Lance Quincy’s help, smoothly got into the auction room.

Lance Quincy didn’t confront him directly, so Lana Holloway was still unaware he came.

His seat was roughly behind Lana Holloway and Lance Quincy, just two rows apart, but enough to see Lana’s situation.

She was still dressed the same as during the day, sitting next to Lance Quincy, mostly keeping her gaze on the stage, only occasionally turning to chat with him.

Seeing her smiling while chatting, her mood seemed much improved, giving Norman Sutton a peculiar sense of relief.

Thinking maybe Lana wasn’t angry with him anymore?

So Norman Sutton took out his phone and sent Lana a message on WhatsApp: "Where are you?"

Sitting ahead, Lana Holloway clearly noticed the phone’s vibration, she looked down, took it from her bag, glanced at it, and soon put it back in.

And Norman, looking down at his own phone, almost thought the venue was a signal dead spot, thus no immediate reply from Lana.

He stared at his phone for a few seconds, realizing the chat group messages kept coming, acknowledging the signal was actually fine, it’s just that stubborn woman didn’t reply.

Not willing to give up, he messaged again: "I’m asking you, you know?"

Norman Sutton: "Are you mute?"

Norman Sutton: "Lana Holloway, what’s your deal, huh?"

Sent several more messages, looking ahead, but saw that Lana didn’t even glance at her phone this time.

Probably switched it to silent mode earlier.

Norman Sutton was impatient, finding the auction boring since he held no interest in these so-called ’art pieces’, painting after painting, he felt he could paint at a child’s scribble level, yet they were bid for tens of thousands.

After watching for over an hour, he thought only Wayne Archer’s "Banquet" was barely presentable.

The painting depicted a girl’s profile, highly detailed; the lines and lighting were flawlessly handled, so well done it was hard to tell if it’s a painting or a photograph. Of course, the price was incredibly high.

Just as Norman Sutton was dozing off and wished for a cigarette break, he suddenly heard Lana Holloway’s name from the host’s mouth.

Looking up at the enlarged screen on stage, it showed a grand eight-meter long ink-wash landscape painting, he didn’t expect Lana’s work being auctioned amidst these paintings.
