MTL - He Became a Salted Fish After Inheriting Millions of Secret Arts-Chapter 8 if someone makes trouble
There was no sound. Everyone looked at Duan Feizhuo wearing a golden mask in awe.
Madeleine leaned back involuntarily. She heard a confused "Huh?" from beside her.
"Strange, I've never seen this man before." Mrs. Boyle muttered to herself.
"Isn't he the owner of the Secret Realm Trading Company?" Madeleine asked angrily.
"No. I can't figure it out. What happened?"
Madeleine was too surprised to speak. After a while, low and soft whispers sounded around. Everyone seemed to have just woken up like a dream, realizing that the person who greeted them today had changed.
Duan Feizhuo looked around at them and said, "Cough."
A simple syllable is more effective than the longest and most complicated secretary spell. The buzzing whispers all around disappeared in an instant, and the deathly silence returned. Madeleine didn't even dare to breathe loudly.
"Everyone, we should be meeting for the first time." Duan Feizhuo's voice was not loud, but it had a wonderful deterrent effect, as if as long as he spoke, everyone in the room would involuntarily quiet down and listen.
"You may be wondering where the owner of the trading house has gone? I want to tell you a sad news—he passed away due to illness not long ago."
There were gasps of air from all around. Out of the corner of Madeleine's eye, she noticed Mrs. Boyle covering her mouth with a handkerchief.
"I am his heir, the second-generation owner of the Secret Realm Trading Company. It is a great honor to meet you here. Then, everyone, please come in. Please choose your favorite products at will."
He stepped aside and bowed slightly. The customers looked at each other, and it took a long time before hesitatingly stepped into the gate.
Madeleine shrank her head, at a loss. Mrs. Boyle clapped her hands. "Let's go, dear."
Two women walked into the trading house with the crowd.
Madeleine let out an exclamation. She originally thought that the trading house should be like a grocery store, with all kinds of rare or dangerous goods stacked messily on the shelves. But what presented before her was a place like a small museum, where each product was displayed in a separate grid.
"Excuse me, please step aside." Someone pushed Madeleine from behind.
It was only then that she realized that she was so busy looking at the display of the trading house that she actually blocked the door. She stepped aside embarrassingly.
Three tall men with unpretentious white masks filed in, one of them turned to Madeleine and Mrs. Boyle, and looked at the two ladies thoughtfully.
His eyes fell on Mrs Boyle's fur shawl. "Phosphor Fox's fur, but it's a little blemish." He said with an American accent.
Mrs. Boyle glanced at his cuff, said hello casually, and pulled Madeleine into the crowd, keeping as far away from the three men as possible.
"Who are they?" Madeleine asked curiously.
"The Salem school. I don't like them much."
"How did you recognize it?"
"Look at their cufflinks, dear, don't you see an 'S' on them?"
Madeleine looked back cautiously, and the three men were whispering to each other as they were attracted by a statue placed high up.
The masked trading house owner walked towards Madeleine. She immediately hid nervously behind Mrs. Boyle. But she found that the target of the owner of the trading house was not her, but a customer near her, that fancy oriental woman.
"Do you have any orders, ma'am?" Duan Feizhuo asked politely.
The oriental woman pointed to a display cabinet above her head, and asked in poor English, "Can I have a look at that?"
Madeleine followed suit. The display cabinet is so close to the ceiling that even if you stand on tiptoe, you can't reach it. There is no ladder here, how will the owner of the trading house take down the product for the guests to see?
Duan Feizhuo was also thinking about the same question.
Just let the guests wait. He neglected customers like this to see if they would dare to come to the door in the future.
However, just when he had the thought of "how to get that thing off", the display case on the wall suddenly moved.
The grid at the bottom automatically gets out of the way to the sides, and the grid at the top slowly descends. The space it left was quickly filled by another square.
Duan Feizhuo noticed that these grids were not stacked together perfectly, but there were some spaces and gaps. They use these gaps to move up and down, side to side, like a slider game.
In the end, the grid moved to a position where it was at eye level with the oriental woman. A small white object, sort of like a kazoo, is displayed on a shelf.
"Thank you." The oriental woman said.
Duan Feizhuo smiled slightly and did not greet her politely.
"You still have such a product here." The oriental woman showed admiration.
"Well, I didn't expect that we still sell kazoos." Duan Feizhuo said casually.
"What is the kazoo? Isn't this the larynx of a bipedal pterosaur?" The oriental woman was puzzled.
"You're right." Duan Feizhuo didn't match his words. Oriental women are even more confused.
The two female customers next to me laughed "puchi". One of the female customers wore a silver mask and a fur shawl that looked luxurious and rare. Judging from her gray hair, she is already very old. Another female customer was wearing a feather mask and looked like a girl in terms of body shape.
Mrs. Boyle stepped forward and said softly to the oriental woman, "Kazoo is a musical instrument, you may not have seen it before."
"Of course it's the larynx of a bipedal dragon, ma'am." Madeleine explained enthusiastically, "but I must say, it does resemble a kazoo in appearance."
Mrs. Boyle added, "And the pterodactyl does sound a bit like a kazoo. Although I think it's more like a broken trumpet."
Duan Feizhuo stared at the two of them in shock. What, are they helping him find the stairs?
The oriental woman covered her chest, and said to Duan Feizhuo in an embarrassed tone, "So the owner of the trading house was joking. I didn't catch it. It must be because my English is so bad."
It seemed they had mistaken his ignorance for a joke. Duan Feizhuo couldn't help but touch his forehead. He has always been inseparable from bad luck, how come he has good luck at this time? However, next time he must not be so lucky!
Two more in executioner masks called to the master of the trading house. Duan Feizhuo was eager to leave as soon as possible, so he bowed to the woman in the east, "I'll go greet other guests. Take your time."
"Executioners" have a keen interest in a small display case. There was an old ugly doll in the cabinet, the kind children used to play with. Duan Feizhuo suspects that the person who made the doll may have a deep hatred for children.
"What is this, sir?" asked the visitor.
Duan Feizhuo said angrily, "As a senior scholar who studies esoteric philosophy, you don't even know what it is. How can a mere businessman like me know?"
"Executioner" seemed offended "How dare you speak to me in that tone!"
Duan Feizhuo continued to add fuel to the fire, "Okay. This is an ugly broken doll. Are you satisfied?"
"you-!"
"Executioner" raised his fist. But a long, slender hand grabbed his wrist.
A man in a carnival mask, extremely ornately dressed, floated behind them.
"Okay, don't be ashamed." The carnival mask said, "This is a secret trading house, not a place to run wild."
"He's teasing me!" "The Executioner" complained angrily.
"Didn't you hear the hint from the owner of the trading house? This thing is only for 'senior scholars who study mysterious philosophy', and it is not something that laymen can play with." A contemptuous laugh came out from under the carnival mask, "If you connect it If you can’t recognize anything, it’s more suitable for you to play with dolls.”
The other customers roared with laughter. "Executioner" roared angrily.
All eyes were on them.
"Executioner" gave Duan Feizhuo an exasperated look, and walked away. They passed through the gate, rushed towards the tapestry on the landing, and disappeared within the magic circle in an instant.
"Sorry, I seem to have chased away your guests." The carnival mask spread his hands to Duan Feizhuo.
"Good job." Duan Feizhuo said.
The customers laughed even harder. There is a cheerful atmosphere inside and outside the trading house.
They don't seem to have the slightest sympathy for those guests who have been **** off. Duan Feizhuo thought they would stand up to protect the rights and interests of the customers, but they didn't expect that they didn't care at all, and instead laughed at the two guests who were driven away.
"I also think it's better for them to go. This place is not suitable for laymen."
"The owner of the trading house must have such courage."
"Nowadays, any stinky fish and rotten shrimp can come to learn the mysterious philosophy. Someone really should filter it."
These guys...is there something wrong with them? Duan Feizhuo sincerely doubted.
The two women who helped him out of the siege started talking in a low voice.
"Madam, what is that doll? Is it strange?" Madeleine asked.
Mrs. Boyle squinted her eyes and studied the dolls in the display case.
"My God, it's Jenny the Revenant's doll!" she exclaimed. "Did you see the mark on the forehead of the doll? It was definitely made by Jenny the Revenant. I thought all her works were in the 1818 scene." It was destroyed in the fire!"
"Jenny the Revenant?"
"An American spiritualist, mulatto. It is said that her ancestors are voodoo witches. She can call the souls of the dead back to the world and put them on dolls, so she is called 'Jenny the Revenant'. Some people questioned her She was a charlatan, but she said that she was so powerful that she could call back her own soul. Then she committed suicide. It is said that her soul did come back, and it was placed on a doll she made. No one knows which one it is. The other mystics felt very scared, so they burned all the dolls." The old woman's eyes showed a color of longing, "I didn't expect that there are still alive. Maybe Jenny's soul is now It's still on that doll."
"No wonder the owner of the trading house wants to drive those two people away sarcastically. If this thing falls into the hands of laymen, wouldn't it cause a catastrophe?"
Their voices were small, but Duan Feizhuo could still hear them.
- I am not! He cried out inwardly. I really want to drive them away! I really don't know anything about these weird things! How on earth did you misunderstand me like this? How can there be such a person in the world who is still happy after being scolded? !
Wait, does that mean he... UA customer succeeded?
