Multiversal Wanderer: Starting in Naruto-Chapter 49: Return to Konoha
Chapter 49 - 49: Return to Konoha
"Wang Tao, we've had a great time together. I've left a space coordinate engraved on this kunai. If something happens in the future, you can contact me through it."
"Of course, unless it's a world-ending catastrophe, please don't call me casually."
Before leaving, Su Xiuyu made sure to explain everything to Wang Tao. Originally, he had planned to establish this world as a secondary base where members of the Uzumaki and Uchiha clans could settle. However, given the current situation, they were unlikely to leave their homeland, making the plan difficult to implement. Still, Su Xiuyu reached an agreement with Rabbit Country's leadership. If the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans ever needed to train in the future, Rabbit Country would provide a venue and take care of them. In return, Su Xiuyu promised to lend a hand in times of crisis.
Having spent a considerable amount of time together, Wang Tao had become somewhat of a friend to Su Xiuyu. As the time for departure arrived, Wang Tao, in a rare moment of humor, decided to joke with him.
"So, only a world-ending catastrophe? What about an asteroid crash? A moon orbit shift? Does an alien star destroyer bombardment count?"
Su Xiuyu thought about it seriously before responding, "An asteroid crash is simple to handle. A moon orbit shift? That's a bit trickier, but I could always just smash the moon. As for a star destroyer... I'm not sure. I've never seen one, so I don't know how powerful it is. If it can destroy Earth in one shot, well, we probably can't stop that—at least not yet."
Wang Tao was stunned. "Are you kidding me? You can shatter the moon?"
"Yeah, pretty much. I can cut it in half, or even create another moon. But that might take a year."
Su Xiuyu believed that within a year, he would awaken the Rinnegan. With it, creating or splitting a moon would be no problem.
"I thought that golden giant was your strongest ability, but apparently not."
Wang Tao had assumed that Su Xiuyu's Susanoo was his trump card. But it turned out he still had more power hidden away.
"To be honest, my Susanoo isn't even at full power. I can make it much bigger, but it wasn't necessary against Kaiju, so I didn't bother. Don't worry—I can handle most world-ending disasters."
Wang Tao nodded, realizing Su Xiuyu had no reason to exaggerate at this point.
"Before we leave, you might want to arrange for your scientists to monitor the spatial fluctuations. If it helps your research, that'd be great. We're leaving early tomorrow, so make your preparations."
"Also, I've tamed a Kaiju for you to study. Its memory has been completely reset, and it's no longer connected to that other planet. It's yours now, but please take care of it. It's essentially China's pet now."
"Oh, and one more thing—this Kaiju is female, and she's pregnant. If you raise her properly, she should live a long time. I don't know when we'll meet again. Take care, my friend."
---
The next morning, Su Xiuyu and his group gathered at the underground training facility to say their goodbyes. Wang Tao and a team of researchers had already set up instruments to record the spatial fluctuations.
"Goodbye, everyone," Su Xiuyu said, waving before vanishing into thin air.
"He's really gone."
"Yeah. Did we get the data?"
"We recorded everything possible. Who knows when we'll see him again."
"Yeah... I kind of miss him already. Do you think all aliens are this friendly?"
"You're dreaming."
Afterward, all information regarding Su Xiuyu and his group was classified by China, with even the kunai becoming a treasured national artifact.
---
"Finally back."
"Yeah. The village looks good."
"We've been gone for over a year. It's normal for things to change."
Standing atop Hokage Rock, Su Xiuyu and his companions overlooked Konoha. The view was breathtaking. However, the one who felt this moment the most deeply was Madara. This was the place where his dreams began, but after traveling to another world, his perspective had changed. Konoha was still his dream—but only the dream of his younger self.
"Let's head back to the clan. It's been a while."
In an instant, Madara teleported everyone to the Uchiha compound. Su Xiuyu first escorted Uzumaki Mito and Uzumaki Asaoka back to their clan, knowing that the Uzumaki elder must have been worried after their long absence.
"Chief! You've finally returned!"
"Yes, Patriarch! You're back from training!"
Madara and Su Xiuyu had told their clans they were leaving to master difficult forbidden techniques. While some clan members knew the full truth, the general story remained intact. However, while they had left through the Uchiha compound, they returned via Hokage Rock.
"Yes, we're back!" Madara announced, leading his brother Izuna, along with Uchiha Fan and Uchiha Dan, into the clan after more than a year away.
The Uchiha members greeted them with warmth and excitement. The past year had been peaceful, allowing the clan to relax and smile more freely. Their usual reserved nature gave way to an outpouring of joy.
"Where is Master Su Xiuyu?"
"He's just escorting Mito back to her clan. Don't worry."
With their return, the Uchiha compound became lively. By evening, the clan members suggested hosting a grand banquet. Madara, for once, did not object. The entire Uchiha clan began preparations, decorating their homes with lights and festive colors. The celebration wasn't limited to them either—the Uchiha extended an invitation to the Uzumaki, treating them as kin.
For the Uchiha, the Uzumaki were no longer outsiders but family. The younger generations from both clans mingled, sparring and playing together, bringing life to the festivities. Watching from the sidelines, the elders of both clans were pleased.
Both the Uchiha and the Uzumaki were experiencing a period of rapid growth. Traditionally, the Uchiha had been resistant to intermarriage, but now, unions with the Uzumaki were not only accepted but encouraged.
At the heart of it all, Uchiha Madara represented the Uchiha, and Su Xiuyu represented the Uzumaki. The two clans stood together, their bond stronger than ever. The future looked brighter than ever for both bloodlines.
------
Tonight, the Uchiha clan's territory was brightly lit.
In the Senju compound, Tobirama was busy assisting Hashirama with a mountain of official documents. A Senju clan member entered, whispered a few words, and quickly left.
"Brother, wake up. Stop sleeping," Tobirama said, shaking Hashirama, who was slumped over the desk. Konoha had only recently been established, and the administrative workload was overwhelming. Hashirama had never been adept at handling bureaucratic matters, often working late into the night. Left with no choice, Tobirama stepped in to help, fearing that his brother—hailed as the God of Shinobi—might one day collapse from sheer exhaustion.
"What's wrong, Tobirama?" Hashirama mumbled groggily, rubbing his eyes. "Are the documents finally done? There's still a pile on the desk."
"Madara and Xiuyu have returned," Tobirama said calmly. "The Uchiha clan is celebrating their arrival tonight."
"What? Madara and Xiuyu are back? I have to see them!" Hashirama shot up excitedly, ready to rush out, but Tobirama firmly stopped him.
"Brother, have you forgotten your position? You're the Hokage now. You can't just run off in the middle of your duties."
Hashirama frowned but remained silent, allowing Tobirama to continue.
"Think about the current situation of the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans in the village. Madara and Xiuyu have been gone for nearly a year. We have no idea what they've been doing all this time."
"Hahaha, what does that matter?" Hashirama laughed, brushing off Tobirama's concerns. "Madara and Xiuyu are my friends. It's only natural to meet old friends after such a long time."

Tobirama sighed. "Brother, have you really never given this any serious thought? Our Senju clan and the Uchiha clan once fought over the position of Hokage. We won, but it only deepened the rift between us. Though we now live in the same village, the Uchiha have never truly integrated. The Uzumaki clan is also distancing itself because of Xiuyu."
"The village is divided, not unified. On one side, we have the Konoha faction led by our Senju clan. On the other, there's the faction led by Madara and Xiuyu. Power between the two is evenly split—excluding high-end combat strength."
Hashirama felt overwhelmed by Tobirama's analysis.
"Also," Tobirama continued, "I sensed Madara and Xiuyu the moment they returned. You know how sharp my perception is. They used space-time ninjutsu to re-enter the village. And Madara's chakra—it has grown to an absurd level, almost matching yours. In just over a year."
"If you were to fight him now, brother, you'd likely lose."
Hashirama wasn't fazed. "That just makes it more exciting! If Madara's stronger, we can have a good spar when we get the chance."
Tobirama nearly exploded in frustration. "Brother, you're too naive! Other nations are already planning to establish their own villages, inspired by Konoha. This is a volatile period. We must prepare for anything."
"Yeah, yeah," Hashirama replied absentmindedly, clearly eager to leave.
"Are you even listening to me? Konoha is facing both internal and external threats. While we are still here, we can hold things together. But what happens after we're gone?"
Tobirama's words struck a chord, but Hashirama remained silent. If history followed its original course, Hashirama would soon battle Madara at the Valley of the End and die shortly afterward. Tobirama, too, would perish during the First Shinobi World War. Without them, Konoha would begin to decline. Though it would remain the strongest of the Five Great Villages, it would never recapture the greatness of Hashirama's era. Neither of them would live to see old age.
"Tobirama, we can't dwell on the distant future," Hashirama finally said. "We must do what we can now. I understand you're thinking about the village's future, but don't forget—we are mere shinobi, not gods. We will age and die. Sooner or later, the world will belong to the next generation."
Tobirama's fists clenched. "Then I will create a technique—one that allows us to protect Konoha even in death."
His resolve was unwavering. Even in the face of death, he would safeguard the village they had built.
"Brother, our relationship with the Uchiha can never return to what it once was. Even if Madara has moved on, Izuna hasn't. Even if Izuna forgave us, the Uchiha clan itself still holds onto the past. They believe we stole the title of Hokage from them through trickery."
Hashirama nodded thoughtfully. "Then I'll return the Hokage position to them. Let the next Hokage be from the Uchiha clan."
Tobirama shook his head. "Even if you and I are willing, the other clans won't accept it. The Shimura, Sarutobi, Utatane, Nara, Yamanaka, Akimichi, Aburame, and Inuzuka clans have all clashed with the Uchiha. They fear them. If we forcefully hand over the Hokage position, it will tear the village apart."
"That's dirty politics," Hashirama said, his expression darkening. "Tobirama, I never asked you to play these games."
"This world is cruel and unforgiving, brother," Tobirama replied. "Even as the God of Shinobi, you cannot live forever, nor can you prevent all wars. Even the Sage of Six Paths couldn't accomplish that."
With that, Tobirama turned and stormed out, slamming the door behind him. Hashirama remained seated, staring at the unfinished work on his desk, a heavy weight settling over him.
