Mummy Evolution-Chapter 49: THAT IS WHY!
Sett laughed coldly.
Did being richer, more powerful, make your life more valuable than those weaker than you?
No.
When people are working in jobs, like hospitals for example, there will be ranks of promotions. Senior doctors, junior doctors, or nurses and such. And subconsciously, the higher ranking workers start to believe that their life is more valuable than the life of lower ranking worker.
And subconsciously, the lower ranking workers end up accepting that belief, too.
But was that true?
Did ranking change the value of a living being?
Was a Pharaoh’s life more valuable than a commoner’s?
Sett’s laughter became even more ear piercing.
"Do the Pharaohs not bleed, do they not die when their lifespan ends?"
The ancient Pharaoh shook his head.
"No, they die. Just like commoners do, your emperor will die too. Not to mention your little nobles. Their life is no more valuable than the life of a commoner. They are all equally… worthless."
Sett turned slowly, turning to look towards an army of ghosts outside the alley.
He was tired, too tired.
He slumped against the wall.
If he used another Axiom ability, Sett was sure that he would die. In fact, he no longer even had the power to walk, even though Shining White’s energy was strengthening him, that could barely keep him alive after using two Axiom Abilities at once.
Zainah leaned against Sett’s chest, breathing tiredly.
Zarah had also woke up, hiding her head in her lap.
She sniffed. "I don’t feel so good."
Sett nodded. "Me neither."
Zainah pulled his head lower and made his lips meet hers.
He subconsciously reciprocated by instinct, the kiss soon devolving into passionate cuddling and fondling. But his tongue never stopped playing against Zainah’s weak attempts at domination, her tongue couldn’t even twist one round around his before she was flushed into submission.
Sett wanted to continue doing that, but to his dismay, a ghost full of bloodlust ran into the alley.
Before it reached them though, a small figure kicked it back out of the alley.
Zainah broke the kiss, a bridge of saliva still connecting their lips, and looked at Zarah with a guilty expression.
Zarah looked at them, her face—still pale—blushing. Even though she was standing on a weak ceramic floor, the floor was not cracking. In fact, she was trembling with goosebumps all over her body but she still had full control of her strength.
"Continue, I will protect you."
Zainah became so red, she couldn’t handle it anymore and just hid into Sett’s chest. "It’s your fault," she murmured.
He nodded. "I understand, I am too handsome."
For a few minutes, the apparent calm continued, and the trio each smiled.
A lot of things had happened, but in the end, they were still together.
Subconsciously, all three of them wished for the same thing at that moment.
Ah, how good it would be if this moment lasted longer.
But man proposes, the world disposes.
A creature appeared at the alley’s opening, staring at the trio from some point.
It was a creature in a colorful suit, its face colored with pale makeup and bright lipstick.
There, in its hand, was a bright red balloon.
Updat𝓮d from frёewebnoѵēl.com.
Sett stared at it, a chill running down his spine.
When the soul leaves, do not weep for the flesh,
For kings and slaves both turn to ash.
And in ash will lay neither beauty nor beast, just silent ash, same for every posh man.
Sett stared at the personification of death itself standing before him, looking bright and ugly.
In the face of time, there is no difference between a king and a beggar.
Death is the great equalizer.
Humans were given a lifespan at birth and even if they used unique Axioms to expand that lifespan, they couldn’t live beyond 300 years. Even using the Reincarnation Axiom can only help them get a second chance, not a third.
Even it cannot be used again on the same man.
Sett will die, his reincarnated family will die.
Even mummies would have their bodies decay and at some point, they will not be able to remove the marks of time. And just like anything else, will cease to exist.
Zarah stumbled away from the creature, falling in Sett’s lap.
The creature just watched in amusement.
It was indeed death and its hunger soared into the heavens, its face warping into a heinous smile.
Ghosts, humans, Tomb Raiders, Pharaohs, Commoners.
Rich or poor.
Beautiful or ugly.
Strong or weak.
In death, all becomes the same.
Even pig and man become equal upon death.
Even a beautiful woman’s skeleton is only the same color and shape as that of an ugly one.
"That is why!" Sett said, placing his hand against the ground, staring death in the eye. Holding life in his arms.
"THAT IS WHY!" The ground warped around him. "I DON’T WANT MY PEOPLE AND ME TO REMAIN MORTAL!"
The first time Sett awakened the Limitless Ability, Tomb Lord, he had’d a thought. His inner Tomb was a subspace that was stored inside his own body.
Since that Tomb was technically a part of his territory, can he expand the territory by absorbing the territories of the real world into his Tomb?
He wondered, what would happen if he absorbed the City of Burrhen into himself?
Sett roared as the ghost before him frowned.
The world around him blurred.
That is why he wanted Godhood.
The city flowed into Sett as if he were a black hole.
After all, it was already his refined territory.
Everything standing here, he owned!
He wanted to absorb even the terrifying being infront of him, but the Ghost blurred away, moving at a speed even faster than Sett’s absorption rate.
After moving around ten kilometers away, the Ghost hesitated and moved even further, its wariness making it move completely outside the territory.
It only took a few seconds to travel 17 kilometers of distance.
Tier 4 truly was a man shaped calamity.
Sett felt sweat bead his forehead.
All things within the city moved into his Tomb, even Zainah and Zarah’s tender figures, and after exactly 17 minutes, everything calmed down.
Sett appeared in a space of utter darkness.
He had absorbed everything in that region, including space.
Where the city had been, now there was a gigantic hollow.
A void region.
As that appeared, Sett’s senses picked upon different things. His instinct, honed through years of Tomb Rading experience, noticing the change that was happening around him.
The wind shifts differently. The sand hums a deeper tune.
And the world… it feels heavier like it’s holding its breath
And just as the absorption finished, the world began to fix the hollow by itself.
Desert sand, wind, water, and air flowed into the void in a calamitous explosion, trying to heal the wound in the world. Trying to bring balance to the chaos that had appeared.
TheTier 4 Ghost, watching it happening from the distance, had its face brighten due to the light of destruction.
This was the power of the world, even a creature like it can’t handle that.
It was the power that only Pharaoh’s could rival.
The forests, mountains, rivers, the landscape—the map itself began to shift.
In the void crack that Sett had created, a pyramid rose slowly out of nowhere, colossal and beautiful.
Soon, the world stabilized.
In the place that was once the City of Burrhen, now stood a tomb. And Sett, due to being at the epicenter of it when it happened, was naturally pulled into the Tomb as well.
The ghost watched the Tomb, it’s balloon slowly flying away.
"An A-Rank Tomb."
They won’t be able to leave that place with their strength.
No matter what.
