My Ability Pool is Superior-Chapter 90 - 89: The Monster Within
Upon hearing Yao Yi’s rebuke, the female high school student turned around, displaying a seemingly innocent but slightly confused expression.
"?" Yao Yi’s face froze.
Before he could reflect on whether he had overreacted, a strong gust suddenly hit his back.
He had no chance to look back, instinctively lunged forward.
A burning pain shot through his arm, letting him know that he hadn’t entirely avoided the ambush.
Driven by survival instinct, Yao Yi immediately rolled on the ground, attempting to gain some safe distance.
Perhaps thinking that Yao Yi couldn’t escape, the opponent didn’t plan to finish him off.
Taking advantage of the respite given by his enemy, Yao Yi pressed against a wall, with dust covering his face, ensuring he wouldn’t be attacked from behind again.
He took in his surroundings.
Apart from the female high school student, two other boys had emerged, looking around seventeen or eighteen years old.
Three parasitic creatures?
Yao Yi secretly lamented, knowing his own limitations. He wasn’t a freak like Lv Bai, and definitely couldn’t handle three monsters by himself.
Moreover...
Yao Yi glanced at his arm.
Through his slashed sleeve, he could see the bleeding wound.
The wound wasn’t deep down to the bone, but still gaping open.
Just hanging like this, the pain was making him break out in cold sweat, rendering the arm useless for fighting.
"Is this the guy?" asked the slender boy, scrutinizing Yao Yi.
Another boy twirled a butterfly knife: "I don’t think so."
The female high school student rolled her eyes.
"Doesn’t matter if he’s the Death Fighter, he’s with the ’Innocent Smile’ gang. You all saw that person getting out of his car."
Yao Yi felt as though the girl had turned into a completely different person, losing her timid demeanor.
Moreover, he only caught snippets of their conversation, furrowing his brows.
"What are you talking about?"
But no one responded to him.
The boy holding the butterfly knife walked towards Yao Yi: "Enough talk, I’ll give him another stab."
Yao Yi was a bit confused.
He slightly gathered his thoughts, realizing these three high school students hadn’t transformed yet, indicating they might not be parasitic creatures.
But why were they speaking about killing so casually? Is this how schools educate students nowadays?!
Seeing the boy coming closer, Yao Yi raised his still functional hand, frantically waving it.
"Wait, I’m with the Special Affairs Bureau, special ops, understand? If you stop now, there’s still room for maneuver, don’t do something that will break your parents’ hearts..."
Before he finished speaking, Yao Yi’s heart began sinking.
He could clearly feel that no matter what he said, they were unaffected.
Unwilling to die so inexplicably, Yao Yi kicked towards the boy with the knife.
However, the opponent calmly sidestepped, wielding the butterfly knife to slash at his leg, severing his tendon.
The boy’s other fist struck Yao Yi’s abdomen, emitting a dull thud.
Under the surge of pain, Yao Yi couldn’t help but cry out.
This series of attacks nearly made Yao Yi faint, feeling his vision blurring.
"Wang Ting..."
He whispered something, but his voice was too low for others to hear, and seeing his lips tremble, they assumed it was due to his body shaking.
...
Yao Yi hung his head low, his vision obscured, as if looking through mist from long ago.
He always knew a monster resided within him; when the creature entered his chest on the hot air balloon, his consciousness was actually awake.
Later, he met the monster inside him when his life hung by a thread.
That time, he was investigating an incident with the old special ops officer when suddenly a parasitic creature attacked, killing the old officer.
Just when he thought he’d perish on the job, the monster from his chest appeared.
Saving his life, he felt no gratitude but rather nauseated, wishing to escape his own body.
It asked if he was okay, while he picked up a dagger and stabbed his chest repeatedly, cursing at it.
The creature deftly blocked all attacks, unable to comprehend why a creature would self-harm.
Its two peculiar eyeballs pondered briefly, saying: You can call me Wang Ting.
Yao Yi was furious; that was his girlfriend’s name, the very one this monster had killed.
He kept stabbing, no matter how tricky the angle, the creature easily blocked it. He eventually gave up on killing the monster this way, feeling more like venting, or rather, it was the only thing stopping him from going completely insane.
Soon after, Yao Yi fainted, waking up in a hospital bed.
They’d met a few more times, from failing to resist attacking at first to reluctantly being able to communicate...
...
"Not even up to tourist standards, probably a native." The boy with the knife concluded.
The slender boy crossed his arms: "Should we gather intel about that person from him?"
"Forget it, just kill him." The female student spat: "Do you seriously think that person would reveal their intel to a native? Even if this native talks, would you believe him?"
The slender boy chuckled, "True, an elite like that wouldn’t make such a mistake."
"Damn, what a waste of effort."
The boy with the knife complained, then stabbed towards Yao Yi’s heart.
Unexpectedly, the stab was blocked, even producing a metallic collision sound.
"What?"
"Holy shit?!"
Yao Yi leaned against the wall, seemingly weak.
However, his chest, where the clothing had been torn by a grotesque mass, extended numerous jagged bone spurs.
With just a few bone spurs, it managed to block the incoming butterfly knife.
"What the hell is this?"
The boy who originally held the knife was shocked, reflexively stepping back several paces: "This can’t be right; the White Ability Pool doesn’t have anything like this."
"It resembles those parasitic monsters, but how can it be parasitic in such a location?" Even the female high school student quietly retreated a few steps, ready to flee if the situation turned dire.
From the gaps between the grotesque bone spurs, two peculiar eyeballs emerged, glaring fiercely at the three high school students.
Yao Yi’s face was somewhat pale.
Even though it wasn’t the first time he’d seen it, he still struggled to accept that such a thing grew from his body.
"Are you okay?" One of the eyeballs turned towards Yao Yi.
Balancing his weight on one foot, Yao Yi staggered to his feet, shouting: "Wang Ting, let’s go!"
