My Aloof Husband, Mr. Drexler, Dotes Me Excessively-Chapter 271: Dare Not Offend That Powerful Figure
The next day.
When Summer Shawcross woke up in the morning, Noah Drexler was already gone.
She sat up hugging the quilt, instinctively reaching out to touch the sheets beside her, discovering they no longer held his warmth.
But there was still a faint trace of his scent on the pillow and quilt...
She paused for a moment, then turned to glance at the time.
It was only seven in the morning; had he already rushed back to Narsus City?
Yesterday she intended for him to wait until she finished recording the program so they could leave together, yet she hadn’t expected him to leave in such a hurry. Was something urgent?
As she thought about it, Summer couldn’t help but recall the cryptic words Yancy Shaw had said to Noah Drexler yesterday. Was it because of that?
While she was lost in thought, there was a sudden knock on the door.
Startled, Summer Shawcross hurriedly clutched the quilt tightly around her and called out loudly.
"I’m not up yet!"
"Summer, it’s time to get ready for the show recording, the stylists are here." A voice came from outside the door — it was Jessica.
"Give me two minutes..." Summer was startled, quickly scrambling out of bed, and then hurried to get herself ready. Just as she was about to open the door, she remembered something, lowered her head to look at the marks on her collarbone, her expression changed... she quickly grabbed a jacket to put on, and once everything was sorted, she went over to open the door.
Outside the door, Jessica was standing in the doorway holding a dress, and behind her, a few stylists and makeup artists were patiently waiting with their kits in hand.
"Time is tight, hurry and change into this outfit first!" Jessica rushed into the room, pressing a dress into Summer Shawcross’s hands.
Summer took the dress and looked down, feeling pleasantly surprised.
Because the dress was a spring-autumn style with mid-sleeves and a high neckline.
This style was perfect for covering up the marks on her neckline.
As Summer held the dress and prepared to go to the bathroom to change, she suddenly remembered something and turned to Jessica with a puzzled look.
"By the way, why didn’t you wake me up earlier?"
She clearly could have woken her up earlier.
Summer’s question made Jessica pause for a moment, then she showed an awkward smile.
"I... overslept too."
She had intended to wake her up in the morning, but the bodyguard blocked her firmly two meters away from the door, not allowing her to get close, as if she dared to shout, he would twist her neck without mercy...
Ever since the talent agency had undergone a change of shareholders, she realized this young artist in her charge was not just anybody; she was scared and dared not provoke the big shot behind Summer.
After hearing Jessica’s explanation, Summer Shawcross displayed a knowing smile, then turned to the bathroom with the dress in her arms.
Seeing this, Jessica finally breathed a sigh of relief.
...
Summer’s first variety show recording went smoothly. Just after leaving the TV station, she was escorted onto a car heading to the airport by the bodyguard.
The phone in her bag suddenly rang.
Summer took out her phone, and seeing the caller ID, she revealed an excited expression and quickly answered the call.
As soon as the call connected, before the person on the other end could speak, Summer spoke happily.
"Bro, you finally remembered your little sister!"
Although there was a hint of reproach in her voice, there was no trace of dissatisfaction, only happiness.
