My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 138: Chained Man
Chapter 138: Chained Man
After silencing the alarm, Bai Hanyun slowly opened her eyes. Yawning and stretching, she glanced at the window. Seeing that the sun had already risen, she got up and washed her face.
Coming out of the bathroom feeling refreshed, she headed downstairs. Walking into the backyard, she stood by the tree that blocked the view of the surveillance cameras, just as she always did, and pulled out the antique mirror.
At the same time, Feng Xiyan and Feng Wu noticed that the water had stopped gushing from the bronze mirror.
Seeing this, Feng Xiyan’s heartbeat sped up as he nervously waited for the mirror to glow.
Sensing his master’s nervousness, Feng Wu said, "Master, it will take a while before Fairy Bai appears."
Feng Xiyan looked at him and asked, "Does Fairy Bai always appear after the water stops?"
Feng Wu shook his head. "No. She only appears when she wants to speak with Master or when she has food to share with me and the brothers."
Hearing this, Feng Xiyan nodded and turned his attention back to the bronze mirror.
While he tried to calm his heartbeat, Bai Hanyun had just finished drying the antique mirror.
Placing it on the kitchen counter, she opened the fridge and freezer. Seeing only a few bottles of juice and some ice cream, she closed them again.
"Looks like I need to go out and restock."
Just as she said that, the antique mirror suddenly lit up.
Seeing this, Bai Hanyun hurriedly said, "Stop! You don’t need to turn on your light! Just say what you want!"
At her words, the golden light froze mid-glow. A moment later, it slowly dimmed.
Once the golden light completely disappeared, Bai Hanyun let out a sigh of relief and scolded the antique mirror in a low voice.
"Are you crazy?! Don’t you see those surveillance cameras around? Do you want to get kidnapped and sold on the black market?"
After her scolding, the antique mirror fell into silence for a moment before cautiously flashing twice.
Seeing this, Bai Hanyun snorted. "That’s right. If you don’t want to get kidnapped and sold to the black market, from now on, you are only allowed to light up in my bedroom. All other places are forbidden. Do you understand?"
After she asked, the antique mirror didn’t respond for a long time.
Not getting its answer, Bai Hanyun pressed on, "Do you understand?"
As if it had no choice, it dimly flashed once.
Satisfied with its answer, Bai Hanyun nodded. "Good. If you want me to help you, you have to follow my rules. Now, tell me. What were you trying to do just now?"
As soon as she said that, ripples appeared on the antique mirror’s surface.
Recalling the first time this happened, it was when she eavesdropped on Bai Yansheng and the Yuezhi Tribe, Bai Hanyun’s eyes lit up.
Without wasting a second, she opened a drawer, grabbed a few packs of snacks, and carried the antique mirror back to her bedroom in a hurry.
Once the door was shut, Bai Hanyun walked over to the arhat bed by the floor-to-ceiling windows. Placing the snacks on the small tea table in the center of the arhat bed, she sat down and eagerly looked at the antique mirror’s surface.
Seeing only darkness, Bai Hanyun frowned slightly and asked, "Hey, why is it all black? What are you trying to show me this time?"
The antique mirror didn’t respond, so Bai Hanyun could only wait patiently. After a long silence, light suddenly appeared on the antique mirror’s surface.
Creak...
Startled by the sound of a door opening, Bai Hanyun said, "Hey, you are letting me hear the sound this time? Looks like you have leveled up since Feng Xiyan opened the temple."
After praising the antique mirror, Bai Hanyun focused her attention on the scene unfolding on its surface.
As she watched with great interest, someone walked into a dark room, followed by a group of men in black suits.
Backlit by the light from outside, Bai Hanyun couldn’t see the man’s face clearly and complained, "Can you change the camera’s angle? I can’t see their faces."
She waited for a moment, but nothing changed. Seeing that the antique mirror couldn’t change the angle, Bai Hanyun stopped asking and continued watching what was happening on the other side.
In a distant mountain village, one of the bodyguards placed a chair in front of a man shackled to a cross with iron chains.
Once the bodyguard stepped back, the leader sat down, took out a box of expensive cigars, and selected one. Without needing a command, his assistant stepped forward and lit it.
The man took a deep breath and then puffed out a ring of white smoke.
While he was enjoying it, the chained man slowly opened his eyes. With dried blood staining his face and body, he lifted his head and looked at the man before him.
After a long silence, he parted his cracked lips and said hoarsely, "It’s useless to keep asking. I don’t know where the item you are looking for is."
The man leaned back in his chair and smiled. "Don’t lie to me. You were the last person who saw it. Just give it to me, and I will give you more than enough money to live the rest of your life in luxury."
The chained man chuckled when he heard this. But as he laughed, he broke into a coughing fit, and blood began to seep from the countless wounds across his body and face.
"Cough! Cough! Cough!"
With his coughing echoed in the dark room, the man calmly smoked, watching without emotion as the chained man coughed and bled.
After a while, he said, "You really are a loyal dog. But your loyalty was placed on the wrong side."
The chained man gave him a cold glance, trying to suppress his coughing.
Seeing no response, the man continued, "I believe you know about the curse."
The moment he said this, the chained man’s eyes flickered for a second.
