My Antique Mirror Is A Portal To Another World-Chapter 647: The Bustling Night Market
Overhearing the young woman’s words, the stall owner just smiled and added, "Young Master, look at this design. It’s the newest design created by the Bai Feng Store."
"I only have this one left. If you miss this one, you might not be able to buy it anymore until the Bai Feng Store releases a new design."
When the young man heard this, he gritted his teeth and made his decision. Opening his money pouch, the young man said, "I want it. Stall owner, please help me pack it up."
"You—!"
Before the young woman could protest, the stall owner quickly responded, "Alright! Please wait for a moment, Young Master."
After accepting two hundred copper coins from the young man, the stall owner packed up the silver hairpin and handed it over to him.
"Thank you for your patronage, Young Master. Please come again next time. My stall will always have the newest design from the Bai Feng Store available," the stall owner said with a bright smile.
Nodding at the stall owner, the young man handed the small wooden box containing the silver hairpin to the young woman before holding her hand and leaving the stall.
Watching everything from a distance, Ye Xiaofan thought, ’What is happening while I’m away from Xiqiang City? How could the atmosphere of this city be so different from when I left for Xiquan City in less than half a month? Also, where did the refugees go?’
Filled with curiosity and doubt, Ye Xiaofan made a quick decision. Turning to his subordinates, he said, "I still have to report to General Tan. You all should go back and get something to eat first."
Clasping their fists, the captains and soldiers said in unison, "Yes, Vice General Ye."
After seeing off Ye Xiaofan, they let out sighs of relief and stretched their stiff bodies.
"Ugh... I’m so stinky and dirty. Let’s hurry up and get a bath," said one of the escort captains.
"Yes, Captain."
Couldn’t wait to clean up the dirt, the captain and soldiers hurried back to the barracks.
While they were on their way to the barracks, Ye Xiaofan had already arrived at the command tent.
Handing over his horse reins to a nearby soldier, he looked at the two soldiers guarding the tent and said, "Brother, please report to the Great General that I’m requesting an audience."
Hearing this, one of the soldiers clasped his fists and responded, "Vice General Ye, the Great General is away from Xiqiang City right now."
When Ye Xiaofan heard this, he frowned slightly, then asked, "Who is in command right now?"
"Answering Vice General Ye. If you have something to report, you can report to either General Xue, General Ding, General Tan, or General Fan." 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Pointing to the command tent, Ye Xiaofan asked again, "Who is inside right now?"
"It’s General Tan," answered the other soldier.
Receiving his answer, Ye Xiaofan said, "Then, please inform General Tan that I have something important to report."
Clasping his fists, one of the soldiers said, "Understood. Vice General Ye, please wait here for a moment."
"Thank you for your trouble, Brother."
While Ye Xiaofan waited outside, the soldier lifted the tent flap and walked inside.
Standing before Tan Pengtai, who was buried in paperwork, he reported, "General Tan, Vice General Ye is requesting an audience with you."
Hearing this, Tan Pengtai paused, then frowned slightly. ’Instead of resting, what is he doing here?’
Tan Pengtai thought for a second, then instructed, "Quick, invite him in."
"Yes, General Tan." The soldier responded, then went out to find Ye Xiaofan. "Vice General Ye, General Tan is waiting for you inside."
"Alright."
The soldier then lifted the tent flap for him.
Walking into the command tent, Ye Xiaofan’s eyes flickered with curiosity and surprise when he saw the documents filling the long table. Noticing the dark circles under Tan Pengtai’s eyes, Ye Xiaofan walked up to him.
Standing before Tan Pengtai, he clasped his fists and greeted, "This subordinate greets General Tan."
Hearing this, Tan Pengtai looked up from the document, then smiled tiredly at Ye Xiaofan. "Welcome back, Vice General Ye. You must be tired after a long journey. Thank you for your hard work."
Ye Xiaofan glanced at the documents stacked high on the long table, then said with a hint of pity in his calm voice, "This subordinate is not tired."
Tan Pengtai noticed his dusty appearance, then asked, "You said you have something important to report. What is it?"
Taking out a letter from his sleeve, Ye Xiaofan took a few steps forward and placed it on the table. "General Tan, please take a look at this."
Raising his brows slightly, Tan Pengtai took the letter and opened it curiously. As Tan Pengtai read the letter, his expression sank.
Placing the letter down, he looked at Ye Xiaofan and asked, "Vice General Ye, where did you get this information from?"
"Answering General Tan. This information was given to this subordinate by Garrison General Mo."
"Mo Yuan?" Tan Pengtai frowned, then asked further, "Have you told anyone about this?"
Ye Xiaofan shook his head. "Besides Garrison General Mo and this subordinate, you are the only person who has ever seen this letter."
Noticing Tan Pengtai’s gloomy expression, Ye Xiaofan pondered for a moment, then said, "General Tan, this matter is of utmost importance. We should report this to the Great General as soon as possible."
Tan Pengtai let out a helpless sigh and explained, "This general knows. But the Great General is not around. It will take at least one week to send this letter to where he was."
"General Tan, can you tell this subordinate where the Great General went?" Ye Xiaofan asked.
Tan Pengtai looked at his calm expression, then gestured for Ye Xiaofan to come closer.
Seeing that he acted secretively, Ye Xiaofan walked up to him curiously. Leaning closer to Tan Pengtai, he waited patiently for him to speak.
Leaning forward, Tan Pengtai lowered his voice and said, "The Great General went to the Yurong Border Pass Garrison."
Ye Xiaofan raised his brows slightly at this, then Tan Pengtai asked, "Have you heard the rumors?"
