Chapter 74: 74. Returning Back To El Dorado.

’Haha... I still can’t believe you boldly fought against a basilisk and won,’ the Rockbear cackled loudly. ’Whenever I tell my children about it, they respect you even more... Hahaha,’ he said, laughing even harder, but Aaron simply smiled while staring at the sky.

’It’s nothing, really. Besides, I have you and my friends to thank for helping me take that beast down,’ Aaron said before looking down to stroke the hard fur of the two little cubs who had snuggled close to him after eating a lot of meat, fish, and berries.

The cubs were slowly opening up to him and now they felt very comfortable being close to him.

Of course, his cute little fox wouldn’t miss the opportunity to be close to him either, so she snuggled beside the cubs in the hopes that Aaron would stroke her fur as well.

Meanwhile, Aaron was currently sitting on the top of a hill while talking to the huge bear behind him.

’So, what now, Aaron. You’ve reclaimed your barony and the elf kingdom as well, do you think the battle against the demons will end?’

’I doubt that, but for now, I just want to focus on my barony.’

’Hmm, I see. But you should know that word of your conquest and victory will travel wide and far. You’ll have several enemies, but how you tackle and overcome them is what makes you who you are.’

’I’ll try to remember that, but what about you, huh?’

’As for me, this huge handsome bear will be living comfortably with his little ones.’

’That’s good to know, but my proposal still stands though, you know.’

The Rockbear cackled out loud before he then nodded his head with a smile on his face. ’Very well, I’ll consider your invitation.’

Aaron smiled back in return. However, he then noticed the female cub lifting her head up to take a look at him ’You’re not staying here with us?’ She asked.

’No, little one, I have to go back home. I have a little sister waiting for me as well.’

’But you could bring her along and live here with us, right?’

’That would be nice, but if I do that, no one would look after the city.’

The male cub had woken up as well and he stayed quiet as he listened to their conversation, but when he heard what Aaron said, the little cub looked up to ask him a question.. ’Does this mean you won’t be living here with us? Then what about our juicy goodness? I’m gonna miss eating the juicy meat you always bring to us.’

’I’ll try bringing some over once in a while,’ Aaron patted the cub’s head with a smile.

’Aw, that would mean we would have to hunt with Papa until you’re back again.’

’Hey, what’s wrong with hunting with your Papa?’ The Rockbear asked, but the little ones didn’t respond to him. Instead, they buried their heads into Aaron’s chest and snuggled close to him.

They loved hunting with their dad, but the little cubs had come to love the flavor of the meat and fish Aaron had been giving them to eat.

Aaron spent a few more minutes with the bears before returning to his men and joining them in their preparations to return home.

The group left the citadel as the first light of dawn broke over the horizon, and as they walked back home, the group’s mood lightened significantly and now Diana was walking with a casual swagger and a silly smirk on her face.

Of course, Aaron noticed this and he couldn’t help but tease the beautiful dark elf. "Someone seems to be in a good mood today."

"Yup, I am, so let me enjoy this."

Aaron smiled wider but didn’t say anything else.

The journey back home continued, but after a while, everyone decided to take a break and rest a little in a meadow. During this period, the beasts decided to rest as well.

Actually, some of them wanted to rest but Glimmer wasn’t really in the mood to rest right now, and so she decided to disturb Blizzard because she wanted someone to play with.

At first, Blizzard wasn’t in the mood to play with her, but he eventually gave in because of how annoying Glimmer could be.

Meanwhile, Thunder focused on grazing nearby since he wasn’t in the mood to play with them, but unfortunately for him, Glimmer and Blizzard turned their attention toward him.

They lowered themselves to the level of the grass with the hope of blending in with the grasses around them while they slowly prowled toward the big, juicy antelope.

Aurora laughed as she watched Thunder aiming tiny lightning bolts at both Glimmer and Blizzard’s butts.

The scene was so funny and Aurora couldn’t help but giggle as she watched the prey becoming the predator.

Now, Thunder was chasing after Glimmer and Blizzard with a steam of rage rising out of his ears and nose.

The cute little fox and big wolf whimpered in pain but everyone seemed excited and happy while playing with each other.

"Look at them, they’re playing like a bunch of kids," Aurora informed Aaron as he approached her to take a seat next to her.

"Aren’t we all kids here, besides, they’ve earned the right to play as much as they want to, just like we have."

"True, but sometimes if I see them like this, I can’t help but think that they’re a reflection of you, Aaron. Strong, loyal, dependable... and maybe a little stubborn."

"Wow, it’s rare to see a beautiful elf princess calling a man strong and dependable. This must be my lucky day, so I’ll take that as a compliment." Aaron said, completely ignoring the part where he was called stubborn.

Aurora chuckled softly before leaning her head on his shoulder. "Don’t let it get to your head, Baron."

Aaron smiled and the two rested while watching the beasts playing in front of them.

A few hours later, their journey continued, and now, Aaron found himself walking beside Diana. The two remained silent while walking side by side but after a while, Diana glanced at him with a thoughtful expression on her face.

"You did good back there, Aaron, but when we faced the basilisk and when we fought for the citadel. It wasn’t just the way you fought that impressed me. You also did well in the way you kept everyone together... It’s not easy to do something like that."

"Thanks, Diana; I appreciate your kind words and compliments."

"Hey you," She bumped her shoulder against his with a smile. "I’m just trying to thank you for everything you’ve done, you know."

"I know," Aaron smiled back and the two continued to talk until they arrived at El Dorado.

By the time Aaron and his team arrived home, the town was just waking up to a new day. The gates were opened and the townsfolk greeted them with cheers and happiness.

Aaron dismounted from Thunder while his beasts trailed behind him with Glimmer perched proudly on his shoulder while her fiery tails swished excitedly behind her.

’I could get used to this,’ Glimmer uttered internally to Aaron while puffing out her chest as the little boys and girls in the town waved their hands to try and get the cute fox’s attention.

Aaron smiled and agreed to what Glimmer said. ’Yeah, it does feel good to leave the city and return to see so many smiling faces welcoming us back home.’

’Anyways, I can’t wait to get home so I can take a nice long nap,’ Blizzard suggested and Thunder agreed as well.

’Agreed, a nice, long nap is what my body deserves right now.’

’We all do,’ Aaron agreed as well and so Aaron and his beasts quickly walked back to the mansion to rest and have a nap.

Word got out about everything that had happened in the elf kingdom and the townsfolk celebrated throughout the day.

That evening, the group gathered in the mansion’s garden to enjoy a rare moment of peace with the stars shining bright above their heads.

Aurora sat beside Aaron while her gaze remained fixed on the sky. "It’s beautiful, isn’t it?"

"Yes, it is," He nodded as his head lowered so he could take a look at the beautiful elf princess.

Of course, Aurora could sense that he was looking at her, and this caused her cheeks to slowly become warm, so she tried not to look at him in return.

However, Luna stepped into the garden with Diana also coming in from a different direction.

"Here, big brother. I made these myself," Luna offered Aaron the Cookies and snacks she made while the maids behind her, carried trays of snacks and juices as well.

The maids laid picnic blankets on the floor for everyone to sit on and Aaron and the girls moved to the blankets, and when the maids opened the first tray to reveal the cookies Luna had prepared, Diana couldn’t help but voice out her thoughts.

"You made these? Should I be worried?" She teased the little girl.
