Chapter 1685: Chapter 1685: He’s Back!

Tianyin ended the call and slowly walked to the window ledge. The heavy clouds had gathered for a long time, but strangely, the first summer storm had yet to fall.

With both hands behind his back, he squinted slightly, gazing at the gloomy sky. He watched as the clouds moved slowly, and even the usually serene Great Sound Buddha Sect had gained a hint of noise this early summer.

Creak.

The door behind him opened, and Su He walked straight in, stopping in front of Tianyin. She bowed deeply and raised her head, her expression grave, saying, "I’ve received the news. It’s him."

Tianyin didn’t reply, standing with his hands behind his back at the window, leaving Su He unable to see his expression.

The atmosphere suddenly became heavy, leaving Su He somewhat at a loss.

Drip.

Large raindrops slowly fell on the eaves, like small stones cast into a calm lake, stirring waves.

Soon after, the first summer storm poured down, and the previously buzzing and noisy trees fell silent. The world was filled only with the crisp sound of raindrops tapping on the eaves and windowsills.

Tianyin gazed at the rain-shrouded Zhonghai City, watching as the towering buildings, usually soaring into the sky, were enshrouded in the rain, as if a curtain separated heaven and earth.

The misty mountain rain was indeed a wondrous sight, perhaps just like this moment.

He turned his gaze to another direction in Zhonghai City, where the rain was so thick that nothing could be seen, neither mountains nor buildings.

He pursed his lips, gracefully clasped his hands towards that direction, and muttered what seemed to be Buddhist scriptures.

It wasn’t until the first summer downpour eased its initial momentum, gradually stabilizing and lessening, and the fading glimpse of Zhonghai City vanished from his sight, that he stopped his chanting.

As raindrops roared around him, Tianyin turned his head and finally spoke, "Enough blood has flowed, now it’s time to conclude."

The Great Sound Buddha Sect, as a Buddhist sect, was quite open to the secular world, but as one of Huaxia’s eight sacred lands, it still remained a place of purity. Most martial artists and monks in the sect wouldn’t venture to the main hall at the front gate.

The abbot and others within the temple mostly lived on the back mountain of the Buddhist sect, known as the Small Buddha Sect. It’s a place where martial artists mainly dwell, governed by strict rules. Anyone entering, whether sect disciples or visiting Guest Elders, must comply with its clear regulations.

On this day, heavy rain fell, and the sound of bells resonated in the rain, the droplets born of the sky and ending on the earth, finally soaking into the ground, merging with the land of Song Mountain.

Creak—

The wooden gate of the courtyard was pushed open, and a figure slowly walked in from outside, stopping at the courtyard entrance, calmly watching the flowers and grass, observing the broad-leaved trees gently trembling under the raindrops.

A young monk sheltering from the rain under the eaves, blankly staring at the rain, was startled by the unexpected visitor. He quickly stood up and ran into the rain, approaching the visiting monk, bowing deeply and respectfully saying, "Uncle Tianyin."

Tianyin turned his gaze towards the young monk bowing in the rain, his expression indifferent, nodding slightly and saying, "Yuanzhen, there’s no need for this."

"Disciple is terrified."

The novice named Yuanzhen stepped back a pace before slowly straightening his back. But he still kept his head bowed, his expression still respectful yet carrying a hint of fear, standing motionless in the rain, seemingly waiting for Master Tianyin’s instructions.

Seeing the look of timidity on his face, Tianyin’s brow furrowed slightly, feeling a bit displeased. Yet he didn’t bother to counsel him further. A novice attending to day-to-day affairs didn’t deserve much of his words.

"Is the Buddha Master here?"

"Master is in meditation."

"Take me there."

"But... but..."

"Hmm?" Tianyin raised an eyebrow, his sharp gaze sweeping over.

Yuanzhen’s body trembled, and his face turned fearful as he quickly lowered his head and stepped aside, not daring to utter another word.

Tianyin snorted internally, stepping into the rain, ignoring Yuanzhen’s expression, and headed straight towards the meditation room in the courtyard.

But before he had gone halfway, a leisurely voice came from the meditation room.

"Tianyin, your mind is restless, burdened with concerns, too agitated."

Hearing the voice, Tianyin halted, standing in the rain with a slightly surprised look.

"I can understand your anxiety over such matters, but you should not take it out on the young monks of our Buddhist sect."

Tianyin suddenly raised his head, his expression changing instantly. The calm voice from the meditation room felt like a silent sword piercing his heart, his body trembled violently as he stepped back.

Gasping heavily, he raised his head with difficulty to look at the meditative room lit by the faint candlelight, bowing deeply with a troubled expression, "It’s my indiscretion, I hope the Buddha Master forgives."

"Such words should not be addressed to me." The Buddha Master’s voice carried no trace of joy or sorrow, but to Tianyin, it continued to echo forcefully.

Tianyin hesitated for a moment, then took a deep breath, suppressing the pale and awkward expression on his face. Turning towards the young monk, he bowed with hands clasped together, saying lightly, "It was my rashness earlier, Yuanzhen, don’t take it to heart."

Seeing Tianyin like this, Yuanzhen’s face changed drastically. How could he withstand such a grand gesture from the Tianyin Divine Monk? But as the Buddhist sect’s entry monk under the Buddha Master, he had to follow orders despite the discomfort he felt.

Yet facing the once high and mighty Tianyin, Yuanzhen still stood there, at a loss, staring blankly at the old monk bowing to him, unsure how to respond.

After bowing with clasped hands, Tianyin lifted his head without any sign of embarrassment or humiliation. Instead, he appeared calm, and even the harshness that had just been in his words was now gradually being smoothed over in his heart.

A faint smile gradually rose on his lips as he turned towards the meditation room, pushed open the wooden door, and walked inside.

In the room, the Buddha Master sat cross-legged on a mat, clad in a snow-white monk robe, slightly hunching, his breath weak, as if on the verge of passing into nirvana. He sat there,

calm and harmonious, so much so that entering visitors might not even notice he was the most powerful elder in the Great Sound Buddha Sect.

He seemed to have merged with the world around him, making it appear he was still there, yet in reality, he was omnipresent, with his presence permeating the air around.

Tianyin sat down on a mat a few meters behind him, gently closed his eyes, and began to chant Buddhist sutras.
