My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 100
The car pulled up in front of a restaurant.
Under the guidance of the secretary, I walked inside.
The place was packed, a clear sign of its popularity.
As soon as I stepped in, I spotted Alexander. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
He was sitting near the third row, beside the aisle. Dressed in a black shirt and black suit trousers, his suit jacket was casually draped over the back of his chair.
Relaxed, he leaned back in his chair, legs crossed, his posture effortlessly elegant.
As if sensing something, he looked up and our eyes met.
I quickly made my way over, pulling out a chair and sitting across from him.
“You’re here. What did you do this afternoon?”
“I slept the whole afternoon.”
“Then you should be well-rested for tonight.” Hearing the subtle implication in Alexander’s voice, I shot him a playful glare.
The waiter arrived, handing a menu to each of us.
Alexander ordered several dishes in his usual low, magnetic voice.
Once the order was placed, the waiter left.
I rested my elbow on the table, chin in hand, lazily surveying the restaurant’s decor.
Alexander’s gaze, however, was fixed on Vivienne.
Her features were delicate and beautiful, her fair skin smooth and flawless.
A faint smile played on her lips, her eyes calm and elegant, like a serene, still pool of water.
Half an hour later, the dishes began to arrive.
The first was caviar, glistening and translucent.
"This special caviar is the restaurant’s signature dish. Want to try it?"
I nodded and spread some on a piece of bread.
Each little bead of caviar burst in my mouth, its unique flavor slowly creeping over my tongue—slightly salty, with a hint of fishiness.
"Quite good," I admitted.
I hadn’t liked caviar at first, but after a few tries, I’d grown accustomed to the taste and started to enjoy it.
I took a small bite of bread, and soon, a plate of filet mignon was placed in front of me.
As usual, Alexander cut it into small pieces before placing them on my plate.
After the main course, two desserts arrived: strawberry mousse and Napoleon cake.
I finished both without hesitation.
After leaving the restaurant, we took a leisurely stroll nearby.
Couples were holding hands on the streets, and we drew a few curious glances from passersby.
By the time we returned to the villa, it was already past nine.
In high spirits, Alexander pulled me into the bathroom for some passion.
“I can’t anymore, not tonight,” I said weakly, lying on the bed.
The past few days had been intense, and I was starting to worry about the baby.
But it was hard to resist—Alexander’s allure was too tempting.
I couldn’t help but glance at him.
“What’s wrong?” Alexander asked, looking up as he poured water from the kettle.
“Nothing.”
This man, so effortlessly seductive, really knew how to tempt someone.
It was getting harder and harder to keep my distance.
If Alexander knew what was going through my mind, I’d probably be in for another long night.
Alexander was in New York on a business trip, while I was here to explore. During the day, when he went to the branch office, I wandered around the city on my own.
Occasionally, when he finished early, he’d join me for some shopping.
A few days later, we were preparing to head back.
Alexander asked his secretary to go home first while he and I stayed in Los Angeles to visit his aunt, who had settled there.
Grandfather and grandmother had three children.
The eldest was Alexander and Sebastian’s father, who tragically passed away in a car accident when Alexander was young, leaving him and his brother orphaned.
The second son is now a shareholder at Vanguard Global Enterprises, though he rarely participates in company affairs. Instead, he owns a chain of restaurants and is busy with that business.
The youngest, Alexander’s aunt, Bella Hawthorne, lives in Los Angeles.
As the youngest child and a girl, she was particularly spoiled by her grandparents. Even now, in her forties or fifties, Bella still shows signs of that spoiled nature.
She’s never married.
Grandfather and grandmother once worried endlessly about her future, trying to introduce her to various young men.
But Bella was resistant to marriage, and after a while, they gave up and allowed her to live as she wished.
I heard she recently adopted a child.
I’ve been at The Hawthornes for nearly ten years, and in all that time, I’ve seen Bella only a handful of times.
From the start, I could tell Bella didn’t like me. The first time she came home for the New Year and saw me, she treated me like I was invisible.
Later, after I married Alexander, her attitude became even more obvious. She looked at me with the kind of disdain most people reserve for their enemies. She even took me aside privately.
What she said to me was nothing but a demand to step aside and leave Alexander, claiming that I wasn’t worthy of him because of my background.
At the time, I was overjoyed to be married to Alexander, full of hope for the future. How could I possibly be swayed by Bella’s intentional provocations?
In the end, Bella and I parted on bad terms.
I’m sure Bella must have gone to Alexander afterward. I don’t know what he said to her, but after that, she never came back.
Bella had always been particularly fond of Alexander, even more so than of Sebastian.
When she found out Alexander was coming to see her, she was thrilled.
“Auntie!” Bella beamed, her face lighting up at the sight of Alexander’s tall figure.
But when she saw me standing beside him, there was a brief flash of displeasure across her face.
It was only for a second, but I saw it.
I offered a polite smile and greeted her, “Auntie.”
Bella glanced at me briefly before returning her gaze to Alexander, smiling as she said, “Come in.”
Alexander gave me a quick look, then took my hand as we walked into the living room.
The space was simply yet warmly decorated.
Bella poured two cups of hot coffee. “Alexander, I’m so glad you could come visit.”
“Auntie, it’s the least we could do,” Alexander replied, his eyes scanning the room. “Is Grace at school?”
Grace Hawthorne was Bella’s adopted daughter.
I’d heard of her but had never met her.
Alexander, on the other hand, had spent some time with her. When he was here on business last July, Bella had something to attend to, so he stayed for a few days and ended up taking care of Grace. He found that he quite liked the clever little girl.
“Mm,” Bella nodded. “She’ll be here for dinner tonight. She’s been asking about you.”
I felt a bit awkward, staying quiet as Alexander and Bella continued their conversation.
Bella asked about Grandpa’s health and inquired about how Alexander had been doing recently.
Just then, Alexander stood up and went out to the balcony to take a phone call.
The room fell into silence, leaving just Bella and me. The atmosphere became tense, and I could feel the discomfort building between us.
Bella sat nearby, her eyes sharp as knives, glaring at me.
A chill ran down my spine.
