My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 114
Vivienne’s POV
Recently, news about Vivienne’s personal life has been making waves. While the senior management of the company has remained silent, it’s not because they don’t care—it’s because they aren’t in a position to comment. However, the Vice Chairman is in a position to speak on the matter. Not only is he the Vice Chairman, but he’s also one of the company’s shareholders, a board member, and has a direct stake in the company’s stock. So, bringing this up doesn’t seem out of place.
Everyone probably knows the issue is related to Alexander, but no one dares to directly accuse him.
When I was publicly called out, my face went even paler, and I felt deeply embarrassed. “I sincerely apologize. My personal matters have affected the company...”
Before I could finish, Alexander interrupted me.
He gave a brief glance around the room. “I don’t think this is the right time to discuss this.”
Aside from the CFO, whose appointment requires a board vote, Alexander has direct authority over other department heads and project leaders.
John Smith gave a stiff smile. “Alright.”
Clearly, Alexander wanted to protect me, and no further explanation was needed.
“Let’s move on with the meeting,” Alexander said calmly.
Jaxon grinned. “What I was going to say has already been covered by the previous speakers, so I won’t repeat it.”
“However,” he shifted his tone, “I had dinner with Director Steven Tarantino a few days ago. He mentioned that Director Vivienne turned down his offer to sponsor his project and even blocked his contact information. Vivienne, is that true?”
At that moment, another Executive Vice President joined the conversation. “Director Steven Tarantino? Isn’t he preparing a talent show? Securing the sponsorship rights would be a good deal, given the fanbase and spending power of the idols in the entertainment industry.”
This Executive Vice President, Chloe, oversees V&R and several other brands. She’s my direct superior, although she rarely gets involved in day-to-day affairs and leaves most of the work to others.
All eyes turned to me.
I looked at Jaxon and admitted, “That’s true...”
“Vivienne, you’ve been with Vanguard Global Enterprises for three years now. Don’t you know what’s appropriate and what’s not?” Jaxon shot back immediately.
Vice President Chloe tried to smooth things over. “Vivienne’s performance at work over the years has been excellent. I think this is just a misunderstanding. How about this? I’ll arrange a dinner with Director Steven and apologize on her behalf. We can settle this issue.”
Before I could speak, Jaxon interrupted. “There’s no better time than tonight! Let’s do it tonight!” 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
“Jaxon, I’m really sorry, but I will not apologize to him!” I finally managed to speak up.
Vice President Chloe stared at me, stunned.
“Vivienne, do you even realize what you’re saying? Because of your actions, you’ve offended Director Steven and caused huge losses for V&R. Can you take responsibility for that?” Jaxon demanded.
“Huge losses? May I ask, has V&R actually suffered any losses?” I responded firmly.
Jaxon was momentarily speechless, then snorted. “There haven’t been any losses, but if there’s a better option, why not take it?”
“I have a clear plan for V&R’s future development. My decision not to choose him is based on solid reasoning. If the leadership has genuine advice, I’ll consider it seriously. However, if Jaxon’s intent is to accuse me without cause, I won’t accept that.” My tone was strong and resolute, with a hint of defiance.
Alexander observed me, noting my confidence and resilience. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of admiration.
This girl has come a long way. She handles high-level management meetings with such ease now.
Jaxon’s face slowly turned pale as he was publicly embarrassed. “Then tell me, what’s the reason you didn’t choose him?”
“I believe Director Steven’s show isn’t sustainable and carries major risks.”
The risk is Director Steven himself.
Vivienne’s POV
As I had expected, things unfolded exactly as I predicted. Director Steven was reported by an actress for inappropriate conduct, and those who refused to comply were quietly replaced. The program was swiftly canceled, and the relevant authorities issued new regulations banning idol-training type reality shows.
However, Jaxon was still unaware of any of this.
“Hmph, so many investors are backing this show, and you think they can just...?”
“Enough!” Alexander cut him off sharply. “Is it really worth arguing over something so trivial? Does Jaxon really need to get this serious about it?”
Jaxon scowled. “I’m just thinking about the company.”
Alexander smiled but didn’t respond.
As for me, I would never block a client so easily, unless they’d crossed a line.
Vice President Chloe smoothly intervened. “Jaxon, don’t worry too much. It’s just a program director, right? If they don’t want to cooperate, so be it. Vivienne, just focus on your work, don’t stress over it.”
He wasn’t one to fight for power. Over the years, I’d managed V&R well under his leadership. He was living a comfortable life, free from worries, and getting his fair share of dividends. What a cushy position to be in!
Jaxon, seeing no one coming to his defense, grew even more agitated and shot me a fierce glare.
But before his gaze could settle, a chill ran down his spine. He glanced sideways and saw Alexander’s icy stare cutting through him. Jaxon flinched, his confidence drained. He slumped back into his seat, silent until the meeting ended.
When the meeting adjourned, Alexander gathered his documents and lingered at his seat for a few moments. Once most of the people had left, he turned to me and said, “Director Vivienne, come to my office.”
As we stepped out of the conference room, the secretary approached. “CEO Hawthorne, the two police officers are waiting for you in the lounge.”
“We’ll go right away.”
“We?” I was confused, but Alexander glanced at me and explained, “I called the police. The person who leaked your personal information won’t get away with it.”
I understood immediately.
I had planned to report it to the police after work anyway.
The police took my statement, and the rest would be handled by the lawyer. Along with the person who leaked my personal details, several others who had been spreading rumors and defamation in the comment sections would also face lawsuits.
After the police left, I followed Alexander to the CEO’s office.
“CEO Hawthorne, is there anything else?” I asked.
“Yesterday, I left my phone in the car,” Alexander casually mentioned, offering an explanation for why he hadn’t answered my call.
This morning, he’d gone for a run, and by the time I arrived at the office, he had already been in back-to-back meetings. Now, he finally had a moment to talk.
“Oh,” I replied flatly, my expression calm.
He had gone to meet Isabella privately, and I knew he wouldn’t want anyone disturbing him. Now, he was acting like he had to explain himself. Did he think I was that easy to fool?
I added, “I wanted to speak to you yesterday because there was a document that needed your signature.”
I wasn’t trying to pry into his movements or interfere with his personal affairs. If he wanted to go be with Isabella, that was fine by me.
“I thought you were going to ask if I wanted to come home for dinner,” he said, amused.
I stared at him, speechless.
That was something from the past, not now. I no longer cared whether he’d eaten, whether he was warm enough, or if I was still tying his ties for him.
Alexander pursed his lips and changed the subject. “What happened between you and Director Steven?”
My expression froze. “It’s just a small issue...”
“You’re not telling the whole truth,” Alexander’s tone was certain.
“I just don’t think it’s a big deal,” I replied indifferently.
“Not a big deal?” He raised an eyebrow. “If it’s not, then why would you block a client’s contact? That’s not how you usually handle things.”
I parted my lips to speak but remained silent, lowering my eyes in a clear refusal to engage.
It wasn’t that I wasn’t upset, but I didn’t think it was worth discussing.
Even if I did speak up, Alexander wouldn’t clear things up for me. It would only make things more uncomfortable.
Seeing my reluctance to continue, Alexander didn’t press further. “If you’re not ready to talk, then I won’t ask. Everything’s fine. Get back to work, and avoid social media for a while.”
“Mm.” I nodded and turned to leave. As I reached the door, Alexander called out to me again, “By the way, the person behind the news leak has been identified. It’s Olivia. What do you want to do about it?”
