My CEO Ex: Let Me Go.-Chapter 79
“I don’t think US is the right place for you. You’ve only just returned, yet you’ve had several episodes. Maybe the environment abroad would suit you better,” Alexander said.
“I don’t... I came back for you, Alexander. Please don’t say that.” Isabella’s voice trembled.
“Let’s not talk about it right now. Since your injury isn’t serious, I’ll head back for now,” he said.
Isabella, still holding on to him, was reluctant to let him leave.
She looked up at him, meeting his gaze, and with a slight tremor, she unconsciously loosened her grip.
He turned and walked out of the hospital room.
He drove straight to the office and headed for Vivienne’s office.
It was empty, and her computer was turned off.
He casually called over a V&R employee and asked, “Where is Director Vivienne?”
“I’m not sure. Director Vivienne didn’t come in today. I think she took the day off.”
“Alright, thanks.”
He immediately got back in the car and drove home.
“Welcome back, sir,” Gabriella greeted him.
He climbed the stairs and asked casually, “Where’s Vivienne?”
“Miss Vivienne? She’s on a business trip.”
He froze. “A business trip?”
“Yes, a business trip. She’s with her assistant.”
He fell silent, slowly walking over to the couch. He sat down, leaned back, and rubbed his forehead.
He was certain Vivienne had no scheduled business trip today. She must have made it up.
It was intentional.
He took out his phone and sent Vivienne a WhatsApp message: “Are you on a business trip? When will you be back?”
He had a feeling Vivienne probably wouldn’t respond.
That’s how she was when she was angry.
Sure enough, after a long time, there was no reply.
He called her again. Each time, it went straight to voicemail.
After the fourth attempt, he blocked her number.
Frustrated, he immediately called Jane and asked him to look into Vivienne’s itinerary and book him a flight and hotel.
This couldn’t wait. He needed to explain things to Vivienne as soon as possible.
If he dragged this out any longer, it might be the end for him and Vivienne.
Jane called back. “CEO Hawthorne, Director Vivienne is on a business trip to B City. Do you still want to go?”
“Book me the next available flight.”
“Understood.”
He didn’t even bother packing; he just went straight to the airport.
He arrived a day early, and there was no work scheduled for that day.
After settling into the hotel, Vivienne ordered takeout for dinner and stayed in her room.
After eating, she opened her phone and casually searched for a soap opera to watch.
She didn’t want to let herself relax. The moment she did, she would think of last night—when he had left without a word for Isabella.
It shattered her heart.
Her assistant had been staying in the hotel as well, preparing materials for tomorrow.
Suddenly, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen casually, then froze. It was a call from CEO Hawthorne.
Wait... CEO Hawthorne?!!
The assistant’s jaw nearly dropped in shock.
What... How could CEO Hawthorne be calling him?
He picked up the phone carefully, his voice trembling. “Boss?”
“Which hotel are you staying at? What’s Director Vivienne’s room number?”
“Boss, we’re in B City.”
“I know.”
“We’re at the RTY Grand Hotel. Director Vivienne’s room number is 1508.”
“Alright, I’ve got it.”
The assistant was left speechless. He had no idea what to say next.
Was CEO Hawthorne coming over? Was that why he was asking?
“Remember, don’t tell Vivienne Sinclair I called you about this.”
“I won’t tell her, Boss. Is there anything else you need?”
“Not for now.” He hung up the phone.
The assistant sat down, trying to calm his nerves, but he couldn’t focus on work anymore.
His work number was saved by nearly every employee in the company, but it was usually just sitting there in their contacts, gathering dust.
Now, at the top of his call log, it clearly read CEO Hawthorne.
He wasn’t dreaming. CEO Hawthorne had called him. CEO Hawthorne had asked about their hotel and Vivienne’s room number.
The assistant recalled the previous time he’d called Director Vivienne—he’d dialed several times without getting through, and when the call was finally answered, it was by CEO Hawthorne.
At that moment, he’d suspected that CEO Hawthorne and Director Vivienne might have something going on.
With all the rumors circulating in the company lately and CEO Hawthorne’s actions today, the assistant felt even more certain of this possibility.
After playing with his phone for a while, the assistant was about to head to the bathroom when his phone suddenly rang again.
He glanced at the screen and saw it was CEO Hawthorne calling.
He quickly answered, “Hello, CEO Hawthorne.”
“I’m at your hotel. Come down.”
“Ah? Oh, CEO Hawthorne, you’re downstairs? I’ll be right down to meet you...” The assistant grabbed his room key and immediately headed out.
But as soon as he opened the door, he saw the CEO standing in front of Vivienne’s room.
The assistant was confused—why would CEO Hawthorne still want him to come out when he was already here?
“CEO Hawthorne...”
As the assistant stood there, puzzled, the CEO pointed to Vivienne’s door and said, “You go knock on her door. Don’t mention me.”
The assistant suddenly understood.
He was just a messenger.
Was CEO Hawthorne trying to surprise Director Vivienne without her knowing?
He stepped forward and knocked on Vivienne’s door.
“Who is it?”
Vivienne, who had been watching a drama on TV, stood up with her phone in hand. As she walked to the door, she called out, “What’s the matter?”
“It’s me, Director Vivienne. I need to ask you something.”
“Wait a second.” Vivienne paused her soap opera, opened the door, and then froze.
Upon seeing the CEO standing outside, her face instantly changed, and her voice stopped mid-sentence as she tried to slam the door shut.
The CEO saw his opportunity and quickly stepped forward, wedging his shoe in the door and pushing his arm against it to prevent her from closing it.
“Vivienne, we need to talk!”
Vivienne struggled with all her might to close the door. “There’s nothing to talk about. Please leave.”
The Assistant stood there, dumbfounded, shocked by what was unfolding.
This wasn’t the scenario he’d imagined. It felt more like a scene from a thriller.
Now, the Assistant was even more convinced: CEO Hawthorne and Director Vivienne were definitely having an affair.
CEO Hawthorne seemed desperate to explain, but Director Vivienne didn’t want to hear it.
It seemed like Director Vivienne was in control of the situation?
The Assistant couldn’t help but wonder.
“I need to explain myself,” I insisted.
“If you don’t leave, I’ll call the police,” Vivienne said, her voice icy.
Physically, Vivienne didn’t stand a chance against a grown man.
The tug-of-war at the door ended with Vivienne losing.
I pushed the door open and walked in without hesitation. “You need to listen to me. That night, I—”
Vivienne shot me a cold look. “You don’t need to explain. Are you leaving or not? If you’re not, I will!”
With that, Vivienne turned and started packing her suitcase.
“Vivienne!” I stepped in her way. “What do I need to do for you to hear me out?”
“I don’t want to hear your explanation. I don’t need it. Do whatever you want, but this is my room. Please leave right now, or I’ll call the police!” Vivienne’s eyes were filled with cold indifference, showing no sign of yielding.
The Assistant, still standing outside, witnessed the entire exchange.
The situation was clear now—these two had a serious falling out.
Director Vivienne had even changed her business trip to avoid this confrontation in B City.
CEO Hawthorne had followed her here, determined to explain, but Director Vivienne refused to listen.
Then, there was a sharp sound.
The Assistant’s eyes widened in shock.
What had just happened?
He had just witnessed Director Vivienne slap CEO Hawthorne!
From the sound of it, there was no hesitation, no regret.
