My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 71: Crushing
Fang Zhen loaded a 145 arrow onto the Hunting Crossbow.
There were only four Hunting Arrows in total. Fang Zhen had used the first one to test its armor-piercing capabilities, and the effect was outstanding.
You save your best for what matters most; these had to be saved for the Heavy-Armored Iron Hammer Dogman Warrior.
A 145 arrow was enough.
After loading the arrow, Fang Zhen looked through the optical sight with his right eye, aiming at the Dogman Scout in the candlelight.
The candle as a light source could only illuminate a small area.
Fang Zhen was too far away; his position was in a blind spot for the Dogman Scout.
The Dogman Scout froze for a second or two before realizing it was under attack.
The Dogman Scout immediately began to bark wildly, letting out a series of sharp, frantic yelps.
SWOOSH!
A red gleam flashed.
The red-shafted 145 arrow shot out, hitting the Dogman Scout in less than half a second.
Fang Zhen’s aim with this arrow was incredibly steady, and his combat intuition seized upon a flash of inspiration, striking the Dogman Scout right between the eyes.
The immense kinetic energy, combined with the sharp arrowhead, shattered the Dogman Scout’s skull. The arrow entered the center of its forehead and exited through the back of its head, leaving the entire shaft jutting from its head.
The Dogman Scout’s frantic barking came to an abrupt halt as its body immediately went limp and collapsed to the ground.
The candle in its hand fell onto its body, setting its fur ablaze. The Dogman Scout showed no reaction.
Two shots, two hits. Fang Zhen’s precision was incredible.
Fang Zhen’s mood was euphoric. He felt his combat will unfurl, as if the entirety of Miner Ding was under his control, giving him the feeling of a king looking down upon his domain, in command of everything.
His mind was empty of thoughts, his movements as fluid as flowing water. He immediately drew the string of the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow and drew another 145 arrow.
At that moment, in the two small tents within Miner Ding, the resting Dogman Priest and Heavy Armor Warhammer Warrior, as well as two other Kobolds, were startled awake.
With a series of barks, four Kobolds charged out of the tents one after another.
The Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest rushed out, scanned the area, and immediately spotted Fang Zhen’s position, barking in his direction.
A realization flashed through Fang Zhen’s mind.
’The candlelight doesn’t reach me here.’
’The Dragon-Scale Priest can see me. Its vision is different from the other Kobolds; it most likely has dark vision.’
Fang Zhen hadn’t even intentionally thought about it; he had just naturally grasped this crucial piece of information.
This realization lowered the risk he faced by a few degrees.
His mind was working, and so were his hands.
The Cheetah Hunting Crossbow was already raised, and Fang Zhen aimed at the tent area through the optical sight.
The Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman Warrior, the Iron-Armored Dogman, and another Scout also emerged one by one.
They were wearing armor. It seemed they were vigilant, knowing they could be attacked, not even daring to remove it while sleeping.
Fang Zhen aimed at the Dogman Scout closest to him.
Through the sight, Fang Zhen saw that this Dogman Scout’s left eye was a bloody mess. The eyeball had been destroyed, leaving only a gory socket, and a horizontal gash ran across its face.
Fang Zhen knew at a glance that his previous blind shot had hit its mark. It hadn’t killed the creature, but it had blown out one of the Dogman Scout’s eyes.
The Dogman Scout might have also sensed that this was the same ambusher from before. Its remaining eye was bloodshot, and it barked incessantly. Truly, its eyes were red with fury.
And what met the Dogman Scout’s fury was a sharp 145 arrow.
SWOOSH!
The sound of something tearing through the air rang out, a red gleam flashed, and in less than half a second, the arrow struck the Dogman Scout’s chest.
The Dogman Scout’s chest plate offered no effective protection. The 145 arrow pierced straight through its chest, exited from its back, and flew several more meters before losing momentum and falling to the ground.
Before the Dogman Scout could vent its rage, it lost all its strength. With a miserable howl, its body went powerless and it collapsed to the ground.
Fang Zhen had now fired three arrows, taking the lives of two Elite Dogmen.
Even the Grim Reaper’s scythe might not be this efficient.
Even Fang Zhen himself was a little surprised.
’Am I really this strong?’
A moment later, he came to a realization.
Inside a dungeon, there seemed to be an invisible, intangible, but very real power threshold.
Before reaching this power threshold, you would feel the pressure in a dungeon, struggle, and might even run into all sorts of problems and die carelessly inside.
But once you crossed that faintly perceptible power threshold, the dungeon’s difficulty would plummet. As long as you didn’t make any operational errors or do anything reckless, and continued to act correctly, there was almost only challenge left, with very little pressure.
Fang Zhen understood.
’My current situation is like running a dungeon with level 10 monsters. When I was using the Dragon Gall Crossbow, I had level 12 blue gear. I had an advantage, but I didn’t feel this strong.’
’Now that I have the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow, it’s like getting a level 20 orange-tier item in the early game that I can equip at level 10. Coming back to clear a level 10 mine, of course it feels like I’m a total powerhouse.’
It was just a fleeting thought.
Fang Zhen now had a more precise understanding of his own condition.
After understanding this, he didn’t relax in the slightest. Instead, he entered an even more focused state.
Fang Zhen was keenly aware that while the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow gave him overwhelming power, his body was still the same mortal flesh. He couldn’t afford to take a hit to any vital spot.
He could one-shot these Elite Dogmen.
But under the right conditions, the Elite Dogmen could one-shot him too.
’Stay steady, don’t get cocky. As long as I don’t make a mistake, I’ll be the one to win.’
Fang Zhen’s thoughts raced, but his hands didn’t pause for a second. The fourth 145 arrow was loaded.
The Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman and the Iron-Armored Dogman had both discovered Fang Zhen’s position. Amidst the barking of the Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest, they charged toward him.
Fang Zhen aimed his fourth arrow at the Iron-Armored Dogman.
He wanted to clear the field, kill the Iron-Armored Dogman, and go straight into the boss fight. That would be the safer approach.
Aim, fine-tune, pull the trigger.
A red line shot out like the finger of death.
Fang Zhen didn’t feel a flash of intuition this time. It was a normal shot, aimed steadily at the Iron-Armored Dogman’s chest.
He also wanted to see the armor-piercing capability of a 145 arrow against ordinary iron armor.
SWOOSH!
THWANG!
In an instant, the 145 arrow struck the Iron-Armored Dogman’s chest. Half the arrow penetrated, lodging in the chainmail chestplate.
The Iron-Armored Dogman let out a miserable howl and fell to one knee, its longsword clattering to the ground.
It wasn’t dead.
Fang Zhen made a rough assessment.
A 145 arrow could pierce the armor, but its killing power was reduced. It wounded, but didn’t kill.
At this moment, the Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman was charging fiercely and was now only about forty meters away from Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen’s mind was clear.
Combat focus had a side effect: it reduced the psychological fluctuations of anxiety and panic during battle, yet it didn’t diminish the heightened concentration and focus brought on by the positive aspects of tension.
Fang Zhen continued to draw the string of the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow and loaded a 145 arrow.
By the time he finished, the Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman was only about twenty-four or twenty-five meters away—extremely close. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
After drawing the Hunting Crossbow, under the oppressive pressure of the Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman’s rapid approach, Fang Zhen made a move.
He switched on the high-intensity flashlight on his belt.
An intense beam of light shot out, hitting the charging Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman head-on. It immediately let out a howl, blinded and unable to open its eyes.
In that window of opportunity, Fang Zhen activated the Cheetah Hunting Crossbow’s Large Laser Sighting Device.
Instantly, a green dot of light landed on the Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman’s body.
Fang Zhen adjusted his aim slightly upward, and in a flash, the green laser dot was pointed right at the Heavy-Armored Warhammer Dogman’s head!
