My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 74: Magic Item?
The Molotov Cocktail flew through the air and smashed against the stone wall of the corridor in an instant.
The cocktail bottle shattered, and the gasoline mixed with sugar was ignited by the fuse, erupting in a ball of fire. Sparks splattered throughout the corridor, turning it into a sea of flames.
The Dogman Priest was engulfed by the raging inferno.
Fang Zhen didn't relax. With his right hand, he set the Hunting Crossbow down against the rock wall at the corridor's entrance and picked up his spear.
He stared intently at the flames in the corridor.
Suddenly!
From within the blaze, a shrill cry rang out, tinged with a rumbling sound.
It wasn't like a dog's bark; it sounded more like the roar of a legendary dragon.
Fang Zhen's gaze sharpened.
He saw the Dogman Priest, covered in flames and burning like a torch, force its way out of the sea of fire and charge desperately down the corridor.
'This tough?'
'No, its scales are fire-resistant!'
Fang Zhen's pupils suddenly dilated.
But his hands never stopped moving. He leveled the spear and lunged, thrusting it violently at the charging Dogman Priest.
SQUELCH!
The spear pierced through the right side of the flaming Dogman Priest's chest, the spearhead punching all the way through.
Just as Fang Zhen thought the Dogman Priest must be dead and let out a small sigh of relief...
But in the next moment, the Dogman Priest did something inconceivable.
The Dogman Priest actually kept charging, pushing itself further onto the spear.
The Dogman Priest was wreathed in flames, its right chest impaled, yet it just kept forcing itself forward, letting the shaft of the spear slide deeper and deeper through its body.
In the blink of an eye, half of the alloy spear shaft had passed through the Dogman Priest's right chest.
The Dogman Priest was now about a meter away from Fang Zhen.
Fang Zhen raised his right foot, about to kick the Dogman Priest back.
Suddenly, however, a scene flashed through Fang Zhen's mind.
"Don't get near a Dogman Priest! It'll go... WHOOSH... and burn you to ash! To ash! Hahahaha, to ash!"
The image of the crazed Mercenary from Redstone Town rushing over to warn him surfaced in his mind.
Fang Zhen was suddenly alarmed.
'This Dogman Priest still has a trump card!'
Fang Zhen immediately made a decision. He gripped the spear with both hands, gave it a hard shove forward, and simultaneously let go of the shaft. He then dove to his left, avoiding the Dogman Priest's direct line of charge.
At almost the exact same moment he made this move, the Dogman Priest charged out of the corridor.
At the same time Fang Zhen dodged, the Dogman Priest shot its left hand up and swung it forward.
A four to five meter long, cone-shaped jet of flame shot out from its hand.
The apex of the fiery cone was the Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest's hand. The flames it spewed were thick, dense, and extremely hot.
Fang Zhen had already dodged out of the cone of fire's range, and he was wearing an asbestos suit, but he could still feel a wave of searing heat.
The temperature of the cone of fire instantly created a heatwave in the surrounding air, even causing the light from the flames to distort as the scorching air moved.
Fang Zhen landed from his dive.
He was deeply shaken, but his actions didn't stop. He rolled, got back to his feet, and drew the Nepalese Curved Saber from his waist.
The Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest was still on fire, but after unleashing the cone of flame, it suddenly wilted, becoming visibly weaker.
At that moment, a shout of "Hah!" rang out.
Fang Zhen was surprised to see that Quade, who had been obediently following orders all this time, had somehow picked up the Anti-Riot Shield and was now charging the Dogman Priest, shield first.
The Dogman Priest was already wounded, and after unleashing its ultimate attack, the cone of fire, it was completely exhausted.
Quade's charge slammed into the Dogman Priest, knocking it to the ground. The creature, with the spear still run through its body, tumbled over.
But that one charge was all Quade had. After the impact, his face turned pale, and he staggered back a few steps before collapsing to the ground.
Even without Quade's attack, Fang Zhen was already prepared to counterattack.
But now, it was an even better opportunity for a killing blow.
Fang Zhen rushed to the Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest's side in a few steps, kicked it in the head, and began hacking mercilessly at its head and face with his Nepalese Curved Saber.
The Dogman Priest was already a spent force. That final cone of fire had consumed the very essence of its power.
Its scales only provided a certain amount of fire resistance; they were far from granting complete immunity to fire damage.
Fang Zhen gripped his Nepalese Curved Saber and hacked wildly, each blow heavier and more vicious than the last.
The hacking continued for more than ten seconds, and Fang Zhen struck at least a dozen times.
The Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest on the ground reacted at first, but as the chopping continued, it became like a piece of dead meat, completely motionless.
The strength in Fang Zhen's arms began to fade, and the hand gripping the saber felt sore and weak.
He landed two more blows on the Dogman Priest's head for good measure.
The Dogman Priest didn't move; there were no signs of life left at all.
Only then did Fang Zhen stop.
The flames from the Molotov Cocktail still burned in the corridor.
By the light of the fire, Fang Zhen could see that the Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest's head and face had been hacked into a bloody, unrecognizable mess.
Only now could Fang Zhen truly breathe a sigh of relief.
His hands were sore, his arms felt weak, and the muscles in his forearms were twitching uncontrollably.
'Damn, this is a normal-difficulty boss?'
'Brutal.'
Fang Zhen let out a long breath and slumped to the ground, not caring about his image.
The Dogman Priest was dead.
Now, he could piece together what had just happened.
The Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest possessed combat intelligence. It must have realized that if it didn't take the initiative, it would eventually be picked off by the Hunting Crossbow or worn down and killed.
But its Flaming Arrow, either because the skill was on cooldown, it wasn't fast enough, or for some other reason, was unable to inflict a fatal blow on Fang Zhen.
So the Dogman Priest came up with a desperate plan.
Its suicidal charge was all for the sake of using that final close-range, cone-shaped fire jet.
That move seemed to have no wind-up; it could be used instantly.
Used suddenly in close combat, it would be incredibly effective at catching an opponent by surprise.
The Dogman Priest also seemed to know that no conventional tactic could truly threaten Fang Zhen, and once it lost the initiative, it would surely die.
Only this move could change the tide of battle.
So it gambled everything on it.
But it hadn't expected Fang Zhen to react so quickly, or that he was wearing an asbestos suit.
It lost the gamble, and so the Dogman Priest died.
As Fang Zhen pieced everything together, he silently sighed in relief. 'That was a close call.'
He had actually been grazed by the cone of fire, but the asbestos suit had blocked the damage.
Fang Zhen looked at his left arm. The asbestos suit was scorched, but he had only felt intense heat without being seriously injured.
'In a dungeon, you can't afford to underestimate any boss.'
'You can't even underestimate the minions.'
Fang Zhen reminded himself that danger was present even when he made no mistakes; he had to be extremely careful when running dungeons.
He took a few deep breaths, recovered some of his stamina, and his emotions stabilized.
As Fang Zhen stood up, his attention was suddenly drawn to a few specks of red light under the Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest's neck.
The Dragon-Scale Dogman Priest's clothes had all been burned away, leaving only charred blackness.
And around its neck, he could see a red, Clover-shaped Gemstone Necklace, pulsing with an unusually bright light.
When Fang Zhen saw it, his heart suddenly leaped.
'Is that... a Magic item?'
