My Computer Leads to an Instance Dungeon-Chapter 84 - 83: Night of Revelry, and—a Heretic
"I’d give you all my wealth to thank you, but I’m completely penniless right now."
Fang Zhen smiled at his words.
’No need to thank me. I already got all your wealth secondhand from the goblins.’
"Your words are enough," he said with a smile. ’Now I have complete legitimacy to sell the Golden Holy Tableware.’
"Alright, let’s head back to Redstone Town," Fang Zhen said. "But before that, there’s something else to pick up."
Seven or eight minutes later.
Under the watchful eyes of Matthew and Leon, Fang Zhen found a spot in the cave where the earth had been recently disturbed. After a little digging, he unearthed a small iron box.
It was Rex’s treasure.
After Fang Zhen opened the box, he found the contents to be quite simple.
Rex was clearly not interested in other material goods or jewels. Inside the small iron box, there was nothing but money.
Fang Zhen counted it: a total of 11 Gold Ropes and forty to fifty Silver Ropes.
"Heh, what a simple and unadorned taste." Fang Zhen chuckled and pocketed the money.
"Father Matthew, how’s your leg?" he turned and asked.
"It’s better now. I can leave with you at any time. To be honest, I don’t want to stay in this godforsaken place for another second," Matthew said.
"Alright, let’s return to Redstone Town then," Fang Zhen said.
...
Thirty minutes later, Fang Zhen retrieved his motorcycle. He, along with Matthew, Leon, and Quade, whom he had called back on the way, returned to Redstone Town.
Usually at this time, Redstone Town would be silent. But today was abnormal; many houses were still lit.
The Redstone Inn, in particular, was brightly lit, with burning torches hung outside the door.
Upon returning to Redstone Town, Leon was so excited he couldn’t help but start running, shouting loudly, "We won, we won! We won!"
"The Dogman Tribe has been wiped out! We’ve taken back the mine!"
His voice was cheerful and loud, piercing the night air.
Normally, shouting so loudly at this hour would earn him annoyance and curses, but tonight was completely different.
People from many households pushed open their doors to watch Leon run joyfully through the street.
Gradually, some people left their homes and began to follow Fang Zhen’s group from a distance, their faces a mixture of disbelief and anticipation.
"Did we really win?"
"The Kobolds were wiped out? Not just driven away?"
The crowd continued to grow. Some people even came out holding candles.
By the time Fang Zhen reached the entrance of the Redstone Inn, a crowd of one or two hundred townspeople had gathered behind him.
The Redstone Town Mine was the town’s lifeblood. Whether or not it was reclaimed determined the livelihood of more than half the town’s population; it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it a matter of life and death. Naturally, they were extremely concerned.
Fang Zhen paid no mind to the townspeople following him.
His motorcycle finally came to a stop at the Redstone Inn.
The inn’s door flew open, and Town Mayor Ande rushed out, his face flushed with excitement.
"What was that I heard?"
"Lord Knight, is what Leon said true?"
"Did you really wipe out all the Kobolds in the mine?"
Ande asked.
Just as he finished speaking, he suddenly noticed Matthew standing nearby.
"Father Matthew!"
Ande’s expression immediately turned solemn, and he subconsciously drew a regular triangle over his chest.
After making the gesture, Ande asked in confusion, "What are you doing here?"
"Praise Tade. It was this Knight, Fang Zhen, who rescued me from bandits disguised as Mercenaries," Matthew said. "I also just came from the mine. I certainly didn’t see any Kobolds outside."
"With Knight Fang Zhen’s valor, I believe he truly has annihilated the Kobolds."
"I can testify! Not only did the Lord Knight truly wipe out all the Kobolds, but he also eliminated Rex’s gang of bandits who were hiding in Redstone Town!" Quade stepped forward, his face beaming, and held his head high with shared pride.
"Heavens... You actually did it?" Ande was utterly shocked. It took him a long moment to recover.
"Lord Knight, I never doubted your strength, but I truly never imagined that you alone could accomplish a feat that would have required the Viscount to dispatch an army," Ande said. "Please allow me to praise your valor."
As he spoke, Ande bowed his head deeply to Fang Zhen.
"Heh," Fang Zhen chuckled.
"We really got the mine back?"
"Hahaha, it’s true! Praise the Lord Knight!"
"Praise be to you!"
In the crowd, some of the more excitable people had already begun to shout in excitement.
There were also some more cautious individuals who looked at each other, seemingly waiting for someone to take the lead and verify the news.
"Go take a look at the mine. You might even be able to collect some Kobold weapons."
"Also, in the forest, there’s a Mercenary—or rather, a bandit—tied to a tree. Go bring him back. You’ll understand a lot more then."
Fang Zhen said.
"Town Mayor, I’ll go to the mine right now!" someone in the crowd shouted. It sounded like Fast-legged Ethan. The man truly wasn’t afraid of trouble, volunteering loudly. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
"Go quickly and come back quickly!" Ande responded.
Fast-legged Ethan took a torch from one of the onlookers and sprinted off toward the mine.
"Lord Knight, please, come inside the inn to rest. You too, Father Matthew."
"A drunk from the inn was shouting in town earlier, saying you, Lord Knight, were fighting in the mine for Redstone Town. How could we possibly sleep peacefully? That’s how I found out you’d gone to the mine tonight."
