Chapter 260: War In Eden Pt. 6: Detonating Planets

A raging battle of gods stretched before them, and the destruction had carried far beyond the initial battlefield and consumed vast sections of Eden’s upper levels.

Temples lay in ruins, structures had been reduced to rubble. Entire streets had been carved away by devastating magical attacks, leaving gaping wounds in the city’s foundation.

Gods clashed everywhere Aiden looked, and for a moment he simply just stared at the apocalyptic scene.

He was so lost in the devastation that he didn’t even notice the translucent notification screens materializing before his eyes.

[Congratulations! For Defeating An Archon God, You Have Been Granted +7 Level Ups]

[Current Level: 14/20]

[You have also received a Special Gift From The System]

The screens floated flickered away from view right after, as if it knew that the host wasn’t paying it any attention.

Aiden noticed he couldn’t see Adam or Lilith anywhere. Gaia and Umgadi were also missing.

The realization had barely formed, when suddenly a massive explosion erupted high above them.

The shockwave rippled downward with such force that even Aiden and Thera, floating at the edge of the main battlefield, had gotten hit by it, forcing them to turn their gaze skyward.

Aiden’s eyes widened. "When did they get there?" he muttered.

His Dragon’s Sight had seen through the great distance to reveal what was happening several kilometers above Eden’s skyline.

Gaia and Umgadi were locked in combat against Asahel, with their divine energies clashing in brilliant bursts of green and blue light.

And even farther beyond them, in a separate corner of that same cosmic space, Adam and Lilith faced each other.

Golden light blazed around the All-Father as his book floated beside him, pages turning rapidly. Lilith’s red miasma coiled around her form as massive magic circles spun behind her back.

Aiden tried to focus on the details of their battle, but before he could see more—

"Dragon Vessel."

Thera’s voice pulled his attention back down.

She floated beside him, and her expression was filled with sadness and shock as she had returned her focus to the war-torn city before them.

"Lilith must really be keeping the All-Father busy, If he weren’t... he would have already stopped all this chaos with his power."

She turned toward Aiden then, and in her gaze was determination. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

"But I’m not going to wait for that to happen," she said firmly. "So I ask you, Dragon Vessel, help me quell this chaos."

Aiden stared at her for a moment. Then he nodded. "Alright."

Thera didn’t waste another second. She turned immediately and flew directly into the battlefield below, diving toward a cluster of gods locked in brutal combat near one of the collapsed temples.

Aiden took one more glance upward toward the cosmic skies where Adam and Lilith continued their confrontation.

Then he turned his gaze back down toward the chaos. He let out a slow breath and afterwards, used his self-duplication skill.

Multiple avatars materialized around him in rapid succession, and without a word, all of them dove downward into the battlefield together.

——

High above Eden’s skyline, in the cosmic space where the battle between Archons unfolded...

The explosion that had just erupted moments before had been caused by Umgadi’s power.

She had detonated one of the miniaturized planets that floated behind her like orbs.

The attack was catastrophic, releasing the compressed energy of an entire celestial body in a single instant.

The blast radius expanded so far that even Adam and Lilith, fighting at a distance, were forced to pause and raise their defenses against the explosion.

"Big Bang" it was called.

The domain of her abilities revolved around the cosmos and the manipulation of the universe’s fundamental forces. Her power was so catastrophic that she was known to have the highest fire-power in all of Eden.

Gaia floated beside Umgadi now, with green miasma surging visibly through her body as scars and burns receded rapidly from her skin.

Umgadi’s explosion had been indiscriminate by nature, and Gaia had been caught within its radius just as much as their enemy had been.

Of course, Gaia had been fully aware this would happen. She was the only Archon god who could participate in this kind of duo match-up with Umgadi without being obliterated by friendly fire.

This was due to Gaia’s Law, which was active at this very moment:

"I am. I will always be. For my existence is rooted in creation."

The Law made her nearly indestructible in any conventional sense.

To truly bring harm to Gaia, one would have to destroy the main world itself, for her life force was fundamentally rooted to the earth’s existence.

Any other form of damage would only translate into injuries that her tremendous healing capabilities could easily recover from within seconds.

Umgadi glanced briefly at Gaia as the last of her burns faded. She didn’t speak, but the look was a silent question, checking if Gaia was truly alright after taking that hit.

Gaia answered in kind. She nodded without a word, letting Umgadi know she was fine.

Both goddesses then turned their attention back to Asahel, the true target of the detonation.

The half-angel floated several meters away from them, with his large black wings still folded together in front of him. They had covered him completely during the explosion, shielding his body from the worst of the blast.

The feathers, however, looked charred at their edges, with wisps of smoke evaporating from the damaged plumage like dying embers.

Slowly, the wings spread backward again.

They revealed Asahel’s face, and it looked expressionless and utterly calm despite everything. Though he had gained a few scratches across his cheeks and soot smudged along his jawline.

Right before Umgadi had sent out one of the miniaturized planet to detonate, Gaia had engaged Asahel in close combat.

His usage of Rebellion made it functionally impossible for them to rely on their divine abilities against him.

So they had resorted to a more physical approach. Gaia had taken precedence here.

She was an exceptionally skilled fighter, far more so than Umgadi, and with that had locked herself into a brutal exchange with Asahel, swinging her staff in wide arcs and thrusting strikes while he parried and countered with his sword.

Metal clashed against sturdy wood, over and over again in rapid succession, with each impact sending shockwaves rippling outward through the space around them.

That prolonged engagement had kept Asahel distracted enough that he hadn’t noticed one of Umgadi’s miniature planet orbs drifting silently toward him from behind.

And the time he sensed something was wrong, it was already too late.

Umgadi’s constellation patterns slowed their flickering as she studied him carefully.

"I see," she said, though no expression crossed her face either. "That ability of yours cannot deal with something you don’t see coming."

She had figured out a weakness in his Rebellion.

The Grace could grant consciousness to any opposing force or spell, turning it against its caster, but only if Asahel was aware of the attack in the first place.

Asahel said nothing in reply to Umgadi’s observation. Instead, his black wings stretched wide once more as he raised his sword again and pointed the blade directly at them both.
