My Fated Mate Can Have Her-Chapter 53: Intertwined II
[Warning: Mixed POV]
- Violet -
I couldn’t breathe properly.
I had braced myself, but nothing could have prepared me for the actual sensation of his palm pressing flat against my upper back.
He lied.
This wasn’t at all like when Tow had examined me.
I could feel him everywhere. Not just his hand on my back, but his energy, flowing through pathways in my body, and touching parts of me I never knew could be touched.
I exhaled slowly, my panic subsiding against my will as his presence went deeper into me.
To my horror which I could not express, my syzygy harmonized with his. Having him this deep in me was overwhelming in ways I couldn’t even articulate.
It felt strange, uncomfortable, and soothing all at once.
When he told me to close my eyes, a world I never thought I could experience opened up before me, momentarily distracting me from his invasive force inside me.
It was a beautiful branching of colours, sensations, like a neatly tangled mess of connective paths which could be easily undone.
I immediately knew what they were.
"I am going to guide you through each sense. We’ll start with hearing."
Something pulsed through our connection, and his lunar instinct directed my syzygy towards my hearing.
And suddenly, everything was loud.
The storm was the most deafening of all.
I nearly jumped out of my skin but he immediately kept me still.
"Focus on every sound," he instructed. "There are other sounds."
Almost immediately, the storm subsided, and I could hear other things aside from the deafening rainfall. Our breathing, our heartbeats, the air shifting through the cave, something moving outside, and an array of other sounds.
"Now I want you to imagine each sound as a separate stream. Pick one and focus only on that. Let the others fade into the background."
He prodded at me, his energy sifting through the strands, pointing out what I should do and how.
I followed his movement, his guidance. I don’t know why out of all things, I focused on his breathing and for some reason I tried to mirror it. His heart beat the same way mine did, but mine still stuttered in my chest. I could hear other sounds outside, the way the rain hit the rocks below, and how some of the water sprayed into the cave entrance.
It was somewhat peaceful.
Kael murmured, and the approval in his voice sent a sudden warmth flooding through me.
I tried to focus on the other senses. The cave’s damp and dry stony scent. The lingering smell of the rain combined with fresh air... his scent...
My head nearly spun.
I tried to filter it out and push it into the background with the others, but his scent stubbornly wrapped around me, impossible to ignore. Soon, I felt his awareness of my struggle. Felt the moment he realized I was focused on him specifically. I then realized with dawning horror that he could feel everything I did.
As if that hadn’t been clear enough all this time.
His voice came, rough and quick, as if he was trying to shift my mind off the thought.
"I struggled with this too as a child. Though mine wasn’t as complicated as yours. My father would take me to the woods and make me practice..."
His words faded as his hand moved lower on my spine.
The movement was slow. Deliberate. His palm sliding down bit by bit left heat in its wake.
I could feel each individual finger now, the way his palm curved to fit the shape of my back, the calluses on his fingertips catching slightly on the uncomfortable fabric.
I tried to concentrate on what he was teaching me. How I would tune my senses individually.
But then his hand moved lower on my spine, and my pulse jumped.
And I felt the exact moment he noticed.
His voice was strained. "You need to stay calm."
I couldn’t. Not when I could feel his heartbeat too, faster than it should be, and echoing mine in a rhythm that felt dangerously synchronized.
"I am trying," I snapped, hissing at him.
His touch was impossible to ignore no matter how much I tried to dull that particular sensation.
I could feel his focus. His control. The way he was carefully trying to maintain some distance despite the intimacy of what we were doing.
But I could also feel something else. Something he was trying very hard to suppress.
The same hyper-awareness I was struggling with.
His hand reached the small of my back and I stopped breathing.
This low on my spine, it felt different. More intimate. The fabric of my shirt had ridden up slightly and I could feel the warmth of his palm against my bare skin where it peeked above the waistband of my pants.
I felt a sudden wave of rage.
’He should just stop this.’
He flinched at my sudden wave of emotion, and that small movement sent his fingers to the very base of my spine.
A sharp tremor shot to my legs and a sensation exploded through me.
- Kael -
My wolf rumbled with satisfaction.
I should have stopped. I should have pulled back, and ended this.
Instead, my hand continued its path downward, following the elegant curve of her spine as my palm molded to the small of her back.
Her skin was warm beneath the shirt. I could feel the delicate bumps of her spine, the slight dip near the base, and the way her breath hitched when my fingers splayed wider.
It was intoxicating.
An overwhelming wave of anger burst from her and I flinched, nearly tearing my hand off her when she made a barely audible sound.
A soft, involuntary moan from her sent a sharp pleasant jolt straight through me.
I went completely still.
My wolf snarled with possessive satisfaction, demanding I pull her closer, eliminate the remaining space between us, claim what was mine.
Every muscle in my body locked tight, fighting the urge to do exactly that.
Her breathing had gone ragged. Through our connection, I could feel her confusion, her embarrassment, her awareness of what had just happened.
And her want.
She wanted this. She wanted me.
The knowledge threatened to shatter what little control I had left.
