My Favorite Game Followed Me!-Chapter 739
Chapter 739
Anton woke up early the next day, even though he slept late because of binge-watching the current sitcom that he favored. As usual, he still felt fully rested thanks to the Pearl of the Ocean. What surprised him was that Enoril, who usually fetched him early for breakfast, was accompanied by a militaristic-looking elven man.
“Anton, this is Mendrolil, one of the captains of the elven guards. He wanted to speak with you about something,” Enoril said while the three walked to where the breakfast buffet was served.
Once they had gathered their food and were seated, Anton asked Captain Mendrolil how he could help the serious-looking elven man. Thankfully, the forest elves had no prohibition on speaking business while eating, so the elf answered while Anton was busy consuming his breakfast.
“Based on the number of items that you’ve ordered from Darodil, you’ll be staying in our kingdom for a couple more weeks. Can we request assistance from you regarding your summons? Based on what I saw last night, training with your summons would be effective in increasing the strength of my subordinate. We’re willing to pay you coins,” Captain Mendrolil asked.
“I don’t believe that with the elves' might in magic, there’s no way that an elven wizard could replicate what I could do and train your men,” Anton said disbelievingly.
Mendrolil and Enoril suddenly looked uncomfortable. Anton just continued eating, waiting for the two elves to talk. It was Enoril who started speaking.
“Of course, we have ways to train our men, and they’re highly effective since we’ve refined the process in the countless years we’ve lived here in the northern kingdom. The fight last night against your summons excited a lot of the soldiers, and they wanted to test their mettle against the summons of a Supreme Rank wizard. They can go all out because inside the kingdom, there are several healers capable of protecting them against fatal damage.”
“I understand that, but that did not answer my question regarding another wizard replicating what I did,” Anton said.
“You have to understand, Anton. The elves are a long-lived race. Before an elven mage could reach the Supreme Rank, it might have taken him or her hundreds of years, unlike humans. Because of our Supreme Rank wizards' power and seniority, we can’t simply ask them to summon creatures so we can fight them. Because of that kind of behavior, we’re used to asking our Supreme Mages only the most important of things, and asking them to summon creatures for us to fight them for training is something we simply could not do. The fact that you’re human and so very young allowed us to request so many things from you that we can’t consider asking one of our Supreme Wizards,” Enoril told Anton.
“Fine by me, and I’m willing to help you with my summons while I’m here, but I’m not going to do it for free. I’ve already allowed your people to watch my movies.”
Enoril and the elven captain looked at each other.
“Are you asking us to pay you coins?” Enoril asked.
“I don’t need coins. I want copies of spells from you to trade for copies of my movies. I’m not asking for the important spells like offensive or defensive spells. I’m more interested in the spells that allow you to keep a garden stuck in spring or whatever season I fancy. I’m also interested in other spells like it,” Anton said.
“I’ve already reported that you’re interested in those kinds of spells, and we’ve already started deliberating if we’re going to provide you with those. I’m sure that you’ll have them. In the meantime, go ahead and talk to Captain Mendrolil about your summons.”
Since Anton received the assurance that he might acquire the forest elves’ spells regarding plants and nature, he provided the same details to the elf captain regarding the type of summons he could summon, so he could plan the correct training regimen for his soldiers. Thankfully, his summoning range was huge, and that meant that he could still roam about while his summons were fighting the elven soldiers.
After receiving the information about his summons, the captain told Anton that the elf would return to request his summons once they had formulated a plan. Anton just told the elven man that he would just summon six ravens and six spirit wolves to accompany him, and just look for him once the summons were all dead.
Anton was amused when he saw hesitation on both Enoril and Mendrolil’s faces regarding his casual disregard of his summons’ lives.
“Please understand that my summons are not living beings. They’re just spells made of mana,” Anton told both elves.
“So you’re not summoning them from another dimension? Then they’re not summons but conjured spells,” Enoril said.
Anton just shrugged, implying that the spell designation was not important to him. Once they were outside, he summoned six ravens and six spirit wolves and commanded them to obey the captain. He reiterated to Mendrolil that they could not be brought too far away from him or else the summons would disappear and reappear beside him. The elven captain assured him that the summons would remain inside the arena.
He saw the elven captain excitedly bring the ravens and the spirit wolves with him, while Enoril led Anton to meet up with the young elves to hang out with them. The young elves wanted to talk more about his experiences inside the high-level dungeon. Anton laughed when he heard from Enoril that the young elves who accompanied him, including Andevon and Nemerielle, were considered too young and still too untrained to delve into dungeons.
Unfortunately, Anton forgot to turn on his Globe of Browser Sharing spell to record his battle against the undead monsters inside the dungeon, or else he would have shown everyone his fight against the dungeon monsters. He decided then that the next time he fought monsters inside a high-level dungeon, he would record the battle so his father and sister could see and learn from his experiences.
They met everyone in one of the kingdom’s forever spring parks and spent the rest of the morning talking to each other about different things like Anton’s experiences inside the deeper floors of a high-level dungeon like the Corridors of Amuneta, his travel to different kingdom and things that he did with his family and friend while he was on the road running from the undead. He was a little alarmed, though, when he saw the spark of adventure glowing inside the eyes of most of the elven youths, but he shrugged. The forest elves were powerful, and Anton was sure that they would only let go of their youth to have adventures when they were ready.
Of course, the young forest elves reciprocated and told Anton their day-to-day experiences living inside the forest. Thankfully, his Globe of Browser Sharing was discreet, so no one noticed when he started recording them.
Anton felt a little guilty for violating the privacy of the forest elves, but he only intended for the recording to be viewed by his father and sister.
When noon arrived, everyone dispersed to have lunch, while Anton went home to rest after eating. He wondered why he did not feel as close to the elves compared to his friends aboard the ship Amelia. When he met his friends on board the ship, almost immediately, he treated them as his best friends. That was also the reason why he was affected so deeply when all of them died, and he thought that maybe his behavior of not allowing anyone to get closer to him as easily back then was some sort of self-preservation.
