My five ghostly husbands-Chapter 447 Anger
"ARGHHHHHHHHH!" Karl’s roar shook the whole room the moment Adrian and Ruby stepped inside. His face was red, his hair slightly messy, and he stomped like an angry cat that had just been drenched with water.
Ruby’s lips twitched despite herself. Seeing him so worked up made it hard to keep a straight face. "Karl, calm down," she said with a helpless smile, trying not to laugh.
"ARGHHHHHHH—you don’t understand anything!!" Karl shouted again, throwing himself onto the couch with exaggerated drama. He crossed his arms and pouted so hard his cheeks puffed out.
Milo, standing nearby, blinked at Ruby with watery eyes, his small hands fidgeting. His sadness was quieter than Karl’s fury, but it was heavier.
Julian let out a long sigh, rubbing his temple like he had been bracing for this explosion all day.
Karl slammed his hand on the couch cushion and pointed a finger at Ruby. "Why would you go on a date with that fat ghost who used to bully us, huh?! Do you even know—he slapped me once! He slapped Milo too! But you don’t know, wife! You weren’t there!" His voice cracked with both fury and hurt. "Everything went unlucky after he showed up... I couldn’t even focus on acting today! Do you know how many mistakes I made in my self-practice?!"
Ruby blinked at him, torn between guilt and the urge to laugh at how childish he looked.
Adrian leaned against the wall, arms crossed, his face calm but the corner of his mouth tugged like he was holding back a smirk.
Milo sniffled, his small voice trembling. "Wife... I don’t like him either. He’s... scary and bad."
Karl growled and buried his face into the couch pillow. His words were muffled but still loud. "See?! Even Milo agrees! And Jules is quiet, but I know he’s angry too! We all hate him, wife! How could you sit across a table from him and not throw soup in his face?!"
Ruby pressed her fingers to her forehead, her heart aching at their reactions. "Karl," she said softly, patient. "Do you really think I enjoyed that date?"
Karl peeked up from the pillow, eyes narrowed, sulky. "Didn’t look like you hated it enough."
Ruby chuckled faintly, crouching down to his level. "Karl... if I hated it any more, Louis wouldn’t have left that restaurant alive. Is that better?"
Karl’s glare broke for just a second—then his lips twitched into a grin he tried to hide.
But Ruby’s eyes darkened, her voice sharp. "And when did he slap you and Milo?"
Karl froze, his anger faltering into something softer. He bit his lip, fists tightening on his knees. "Well... it’s not only Fat Louis," he admitted, his voice breaking. "You slapped Milo too. Do you even know how hard? So hard he fell and hit his forehead..."
Ruby’s breath caught, her chest tightening as Karl’s words spilled out.
"That’s why we didn’t trust you back then," Karl continued, trembling. "And... thankfully you’re good now, wife, but before... it was so bad. Milo cried so much, and Jules had to hold him all night while I... I didn’t even know what to do!" His lips quivered, fat tears rolling down his cheeks as the old wound ripped open.
Milo’s head dropped. His silence said enough.
Karl swiped at his eyes furiously but the tears kept coming. "I don’t like Madame Shades either... she’s the worst! Do you remember she even gave us poisoned cookies?"
His voice cracked completely, raw and broken, anger folding into fear. He shook his head hard, tears dripping onto his hands. "I don’t care if people call me childish. I don’t want anyone to hurt us again. Not Milo, not Jules, not Adi... not even you, wife."
Ruby’s heart squeezed painfully. She reached forward and cupped Karl’s wet cheeks, brushing away his tears with her thumb. Her voice softened, though her eyes stayed fierce. "Karl... I swear to you, never again. Not by me, not by anyone else."
Karl sniffled loudly, leaning into her hand like a boy clinging to warmth. Milo’s eyes watered too, and Julian quietly stepped closer, placing a steady hand on both their shoulders. His silent strength wrapped around them like a shield.
"Okay." Ruby’s voice was soft, but the cold smile she wore had teeth. "I’ve decided. Tomorrow I will go to the old house. I’ll bring a lawyer and sue my aunt." She laid the words down like stone, firm and final.
Adrian’s eyes narrowed, then he nodded, the plan already building in his head. "Good. We get proof before Madame Shades can turn that wedding into a bargaining table. If she smells trouble, she’ll bury or burn papers. We go fast and we go clean."
Karl pushed himself up from the couch, fire back in his eyes. "Don’t you dare bad-mouth her," he snapped, though his voice shook. "We let that fat ghost take her out today. We let him play. But I will not—" His breath came hard, his words cutting like a promise. "I will not let him marry her. Not while I can stand."
Milo, still pale, looked like he wanted to fix everything with a drawing. Julian folded his hands together, steadying himself. They all wanted action, and Ruby needed them sharp and patient.
Knock. Knock.
The sound echoed through the house, sharp and sudden. Everyone froze. Ruby, Karl, Milo, Julian, and Adrian all exchanged glances. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"Who could be here at this time?" Karl muttered, his eyes flashing with suspicion.
Finally Julian spoke. His voice was calm but heavy. "I’ll go."
They all nodded silently. Julian walked to the door, his robe swaying, his heart heavy in his chest.
The knock came again, louder this time, demanding. He reached for the handle, his jaw tight, and pulled it open.
His expression soured instantly.
There stood Madame Shades, her dark robe flowing elegantly, her smile carved sharp and smug as if she had already won a battle they hadn’t yet begun. And beside her—Fat Louis, puffing his chest proudly, his round body stuffed into a robe far too tight, his face flushed with arrogant confidence.
