My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill-Chapter 275
Few minutes had passed. Sixty guards and one experienced commander, reduced to groaning injured men in sixty seconds.
TheReaper stood in the center of the throne room, not even breathing hard, surrounded by incapacitated enemies. He still hadn’t drawn his legendary sword.
Then he looked at the four new heroes who’d been watching in frozen shock.
"Well," he said conversationally, as if they’d just been introduced at a party. "I suppose you’re next?"
Gattychan felt his power activate automatically.
It was the ability he’d received upon being summoned—[Villain’s Bane]. The universe itself recognized villainy and adjusted power levels accordingly. When facing someone the system classified as a villain, Gattychan automatically became stronger while they simultaneously became weaker.
And right now, watching TheReaper casually defeat sixty trained warriors, the system was screaming that this was definitely a villain.
Power flooded through Gattychan’s body. His stats—strength, speed, endurance, magical capacity—all spiked upward dramatically. At the same time, he could feel TheReaper’s power being suppressed, pushed down by the universal balancing effect.
"He’s weakened!" Gattychan called to his party. "My power is working! We can do this!"
Seraphelle immediately began casting, her voice singing out in the language of divine magic.
[Greater Blessing: 300% Enhancement]
Golden light erupted from her staff and washed over all four heroes. Their already-enhanced stats tripled, the buffs stacking with Gattychan’s villain-bane effect. Strength that had been beyond human now approached demonic levels. Speed that had been impressive now blurred into superhuman.
Mika’s hands completed their complex patterns. [Absolute Zone: Dimensional Prison]
Space warped around TheReaper, forming a barrier that would trap anything inside it. The zone compressed reality, making distance meaningless—trying to move through it would be like trying to swim through molasses while reality itself fought against you.
Rin drew her bow, and as she did, her power activated. [Catastrophic Amplification] turned a simple arrow into a weapon of mass destruction. The projectile began to glow with barely contained energy as her power multiplied its destructive potential thousands of times over. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
[Amplified Shot: 1000x Force] she shouted, releasing the arrow.
The projectile screamed through the air, leaving a visible trail of distorted space in its wake. The power contained in that single arrow was enough to level a building, compressed into a point and aimed directly at TheReaper’s heart.
It should have been devastating. Four overpowered abilities working in concert, each one multiplying the others’ effectiveness. Gattychan’s villain-bane weakening the enemy while strengthening allies. Seraphelle’s massive buffs tripling already enhanced stats. Mika’s zone trapping the target and restricting movement. Rin’s amplification turning a simple attack into an annihilation strike.
TheReaper looked at the incoming attack with an expression of mild interest.
Then he moved his hand slightly, and the arrow changed direction mid-flight.
It wasn’t deflection or blocking. The arrow simply curved around him as if he’d politely declined its presence, shooting past him harmlessly and embedding itself in the marble wall where it exploded with enough force to crack stone.
"Interesting abilities," TheReaper commented, examining the dimensional zone around him with the air of someone inspecting a curiosity rather than a threat. "Villain suppression, multiplicative buffs, spatial manipulation, exponential amplification. That’s actually a pretty well-designed team comp."
He took a step forward, and Mika’s zone—which should have restricted all movement—parted around him like water. "But you’re all making a fundamental mistake."
Another step, and the zone’s reality-bending effects seemed to simply not apply to him. "Your powers assume that the target operates under the same rules you do. That universal effects will work equally on everyone. That the definitions of ’villain’ and ’hero’ actually mean something objective."
Gattychan felt his villain-bane effect flickering, struggling to maintain its effect against someone whose power level was so far beyond what the ability was designed to suppress.
"I’ve been called both hero and villain depending on who’s telling the story," TheReaper said, walking casually toward them despite the zone that should be making movement nearly impossible. "Saved by some, hated by others. The universe doesn’t have a clear answer on which category I fall into, which means your power can’t decide how much to suppress me."
He stepped out of Mika’s dimensional zone entirely, demonstrating that it hadn’t been containing him at all—he’d simply been humoring the attempt.
"And your buffs are certainly impressive," he continued, looking at Seraphelle. "300% enhancement is genuinely powerful. But you’re buffing level 30 heroes. That’s what you all are, right? Maybe level 35 if they’ve been power-leveling you aggressively?"
His expression carried something like sympathy. "Tripling a level 30’s stats makes them equivalent to maybe level 90 or so. That’s genuinely impressive for three weeks of progress."
Then his eyes hardened. "But I’m at max levels. And I’ve been at that level for over a century. Do you understand what that means?"
He moved, and even with all their enhancements, none of them could track it properly.
Suddenly TheReaper was standing directly in front of Gattychan, inside his guard, close enough that their faces were inches apart.
"It means," TheReaper said quietly, his voice carrying clearly despite the low volume, "that the gap between us is so vast that your powers can’t bridge it. It’s like trying to make an ant fight a dragon by making the ant three times stronger. You’re still an ant."
Gattychan swung his sword in a desperate strike, putting all his enhanced strength behind it.
TheReaper caught the blade between two fingers, stopping it dead. Then he flicked his wrist, and the sword went flying across the room to embed itself in the wall beside Rin’s arrow.
"But I appreciate the effort," TheReaper said, then tapped Gattychan on the forehead with one finger.
The villain-bane hero flew backward, hitting the marble floor hard enough to crack it and sliding several feet. His enhancements had actually protected him from serious injury, but the casual nature of the strike made it clear that TheReaper had been holding back enormously.
"Gattychan!" Seraphelle cried out, her staff already glowing with healing magic.
[Instant Heal: Maximum Restoration]
Power flowed into Gattychan, healing the bruises and resetting his disorientation immediately. Her healing was genuinely overpowered—able to restore anyone from near-death to perfect health in seconds.
