My Horny Stepmom Turns Me into Her Vampire Slave-Chapter 45: It’s just business (1)
At sunset, in a luxurious estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, Kevin Wallace, his wife Sophia, and their ten-year-old son Lucas are having dinner.
In the large dining room, there’s also a man named Cassian with them, dressed like a bodyguard — black tuxedo and sunglasses.
He’s tall and well-built, with long black hair tied back.
But the quiet dinner is interrupted by a sudden crash from the living room next door.
Kevin jumps to his feet, alarmed. Without a word, he signals the bodyguard to check.
But before Cassian can even move, the heavy dining room door is smashed down, as if hit by a battering ram.
Where the door stood just moments ago, Frank Pyton now stands, his usual cigar in his mouth. At his side are Green — Joe Callhan, the massive, dull-looking brute — and Black — Philip Serghel, the boy with feminine features and long wavy blond hair.
With the door gone, the carnage from the living room is laid bare before Kevin, his wife, and his son.
The bodies of the villa’s security staff are torn into shreds of flesh and blood, covering the walls and floor.
Little Lucas suddenly screams in terror, and Sophia pulls him into a tight, reassuring embrace.
"F-Frank, you shameless bastard... how dare you break into my house and attack my men?!" Kevin blurts out, red with anger.
Frank exhales smoke, his gaze full of contempt.
"My dear Kevin Wallace, if you’d been in my villa in Hawaii as agreed instead of here, none of this bloodbath would’ve been necessary."
"I-I can’t believe it! Y-You... did all this just because I canceled a stupid meeting?!"
"That ’stupid meeting,’ as you call it, would’ve made us millions if everything had gone as planned. My secretary told me you looked into me, and that your sudden change of mind came from what you found. So tell me — what nonsense do you think you discovered that made you ruin such a deal?"
"A sea of shit, Frank Pyton — that’s what I found. A bottomless abyss of shit. The more I dug, the more came out. Money laundering, extortion, disappearances, and far too many suspicious deaths of your financial rivals — and so much more it’s pointless to list, since you know your crimes better than I do. Your hands are stained with the blood of hundreds of innocents who refused to bow to you or dared to stand against you. What disgusts me most is that the authorities have never lifted a finger to stop you, even though everyone knows. So what is it, Frank — have your filthy hands reached even the top of the New York police department?"
Frank shrugs, taking a drag from his cigar.
"Agents from the police, the secret services, intelligence, HESPARC... I have so many public officials on my payroll I’ve lost count — fortunately, I have a very efficient secretary who handles it all. But I don’t see what any of this has to do with our deal."
Kevin looks puzzled when he hears Frank mention HESPARC — an organization he’s never heard of. But he has bigger things to worry about than asking what it is.
"All the more reason not to make deals with someone like you! I built my financial empire on transparency and honesty, and I’m proud of it! I’d rather lose millions than go to sleep at night with a guilty conscience after making deals with a fucking criminal!"
Frank lets out a long, resigned sigh, a cloud of smoke escaping with it.
"Believe me, I came here with the best intentions, but you’re really stubborn..."
Then he suddenly pulls a gun from inside his coat and points it at Kevin.
"...unfortunately you leave me no choice but to kill you and your lovely little family. Hopefully whoever takes your place as president of Wallace Industries will be more reasonable than you were. For his sake."
"Sophia, take Lucas and get to safety!" Kevin shouts, alarmed, and she obeys instantly.
She grabs her son and runs toward the door on the opposite side of the room, away from the one Frank and his men broke down.
Frank shifts his aim, pointing the gun at Sophia.
He’s about to pull the trigger when Cassian, who has remained still until now, suddenly moves.
BANG!
The bullet fires, but something intercepts it before it can reach Sophia’s back, giving her time to reach the door.
Cassian now stands in the bullet’s path.
He holds a long sword, its blade emitting a faint gray glow. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
With a quick slash, he deflects the bullet.
"Oh, an enchanted sword. So you’re not from this world either. I didn’t expect that..." Frank says with an amused grin.
Enchanted weapons are special arms from N’Raeth, infused with magical energy during forging. They are far more durable and lethal than normal ones and greatly enhance the wielder’s physical abilities. They even work for those with no magic, which is why they’re common among soldiers in N’Raeth’s armies.
Joe cracks his knuckles, eager to fight.
"Boss, let me handle him. It’s been a month since I broke someone’s neck, and I’m starting to miss it."
"Permission granted, Green. Have fun, but don’t tear him too badly — that guy has a lot of life energy, and I’d like to use it to feed the Scale of Urvoras," Frank replies.
As he speaks, he strokes the green stone of his snake-shaped ring with his middle finger.
"Got it, boss — I’ll do my best to leave him in one piece."
A fierce battle cry bursts from Joe Callhan.
He sizes Cassian up, his gaze full of pure, uncontrollable bloodlust.
The bodyguard takes a fighting stance, his magic-infused sword pointed at the brute.
He’s about to charge, but stops at the last moment.
Joe’s body begins to change before Cassian and Kevin Wallace’s incredulous eyes.
His skin quickly turns from pink to dark green. His muscles swell even further. His nails turn black and sharp, as do his teeth, with two large fangs jutting from his lower jaw.
Joe has turned into an ogre — or rather, returned to his true form. His human appearance is nothing more than a magical disguise to move around Earth without raising suspicion.
"And now... let’s have some fun!"
