Lu Weixi nodded again, “Alright.”

Zhao Zihao left contentedly, not even giving Qin Zhiyou a backward glance.

Qin Zhiyou didn’t talk to him. Zhao Zihao was never his focus, Lu Weixi was. He moved towards her as soon as she left the room, waiting for her to finish talking to Zhao Zihao before stepping forward again.

Lu Weixi looked at him, her eyes filled with exhaustion, joy, and a hint of confusion.

After a silent glance at her, Qin Zhiyou suggested, “Let’s go home.”

Lu Weixi initially wanted to refuse, but when she looked into Qin Zhiyou’s eyes, she slowly nodded and said, “Okay.”

Qin Zhiyou turned to leave first. She followed him immediately, both of them heading towards the elevator together. Qin Zhiyou pressed the elevator button and she obediently followed along; they didn’t exchange a single word.

By the time they reached the underground parking, Secretary Wang was already waiting. Qin Zhiyou got into the car first, with Lu Weixi following. Once they both were inside and the car door was closed, she heard Qin Zhiyou order, “Leave someone here to monitor. If anything happens, notify me immediately.”

Lu Weixi understood he was talking about her mother’s condition. She wanted to talk to Qin Zhiyou, but her mind was too exhausted from lack of sleep for the past three days. Just chatting with her mother had pushed her to her limits. After sitting in her familiar spot inside the car, with no strength left, she instantly fell asleep.

She woke again to find herself in the master bed of the Qin Family’s mansion. The curtains were drawn and the room pitch black, there was no way of knowing the time without looking at her phone.

She also realized that she had been changed into her pajamas and covered with a blanket, all by herself.

Lu Weixi sat dazedly at the edge of the bed, searching for her phone. When she finally found it and turned it on, she was bombarded with a mountain of unread messages.

She had taken three days off work, including weekend it was five days in total. Today was Saturday. She didn’t have to work, but she needed to catch up on work messages that had piled up.

Whilst Lu Weixi had been away, her design team had other designers who could temporarily cover for her.

A message from Xiaochen reassured her to focus on her mother, and not to worry about work.

It was now nine in the evening. At this hour, she could no longer visit the hospital. After calling Secretary Wang and learning her mother was safe and sound, she was finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

But, where was Qin Zhiyou?

She remembered taking Qin Zhiyou’s car home from the hospital. The pajamas she now wore and the blanket she was under, it must have been arranged by Qin Zhiyou. But where was he now?

Before Lu Weixi could ask about Qin Zhiyou, a call came through. It was from Xue Feifei, who asked, “Wei Hui, how’s Auntie’s condition?”

“She’s fine now and awake. The doctor says her condition is stable.”

Xue Feifei sighed in relief, “That’s good, that’s good.”

“How are things with you?” Lu Weixi remembered Xue Feifei had been called away urgently that night. Over the last few days, she had been consumed with worry and hadn’t found time to check on Xue Feifei. Now she asked.

“Ah, don’t remind me,” Feifei said indignantly, “It’s all because of that jerk Yu Sixing!”
