My Husband Is a Million Years Old Vampire-Chapter 50
Chapter 50: Chapter 50
Upon hearing what Raymond just said.
The Callum family couldn’t be their ears.
"How DARE you!" Maria’s voice shattered the tension like breaking glass, her designer bracelet clattering against the table as she slammed her palm down. Her perfectly arranged features contorted with rage, red spots blooming on her expertly powdered cheeks.
"Who do you think you are?" She rose from her chair, towering on her Louboutin heels.
"A street rat we plucked from the gutter, now trying to play at being our equal?" Her laugh was sharp enough to cut.
"You should be on your knees thanking us for such generosity!"
She stalked around the table like a predator, her silk Hermès scarf trailing behind her like a battle standard.
"Five hundred thousand dollars," she spat the words like they were poison, "for someone like you? A nobody?" Her perfectly manicured finger jabbed toward the check.
"Do you know how many zeros we’re wasting on your worthless existence?"
Immediately the other family members nodded in cruel agreement, a Greek chorus to Maria’s performance.
"This offer won’t be repeated," she hissed, leaning close enough that Raymond could smell her expensive perfume.
"Take the money and disappear. We don’t want your kind contaminating our family for another second."
Hearing Maria’s words dead didn’t said anything but just gaze at her.
At that moment Maria froze a little something in Raymond’s unwavering gaze made her step back, though she’d never admit why.
At that moment Bernard leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, his cold gaze fixed on Raymond.
"If you’re not taking the money, then we’ll have to handle this the hard way." His voice was calm, yet laced with menace. "We’ll get the authorities involved. We’ll have you arrested. Do you really think this marriage is legally binding? You signed some papers, sure, but we can have them revoked in an instant. We have lawyers who could bury you in paperwork before you even figure out what hit you."
However Raymond remained still, his face unreadable, but the tension in the room was growing unbearable.
Then Bernard let out a mocking chuckle, shaking his head.
‡You should be grateful we’re offering you anything at all. Half a million dollars for a man like you? That’s charity. You don’t deserve a cent of it, but we’re willing to be generous if you just sign the damn papers and get lost."
At that moment Silence followed, thick and heavy, until a sharp laugh broke through it.
Valentina’s half-sister, Chloe, stood up, arms folded across her chest.
"I really don’t have anything to say about all this," she sighed dramatically, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
"But you know what? I’m sick of Valentina always dragging everyone into her mess."
Her eyes burned with resentment as she turned to face Valentina directly.
"You’ve been doing this for years now. Before your accident, you stole my boyfriend. You just took him like he was nothing, like I didn’t even matter. Then the accident happened, and what did you do? You made your pain everyone’s problem. You were so pathetic, clinging to your scars, crying for sympathy."
Her lips curled in disgust.
"And now? Now that you’re finally okay, you’re back to ruining my life again. It’s always about you. You’re selfish, Valentina. You always have been."
Her voice was filled with venom, her glare searing.
Everyone in the room was silent, waiting to see how Valentina would respond. freewёbnoνel.com
However Valentina didn’t say anything, she was just disappointed, and not surprised she’s hearing such words from Chloe. someone she entered inside the fire save her life has the guts to say such nonsense to her.
Still Valentina didn’t react to Chloe words.
Still wanting to play the victim card just like they did before.
Maria gently placed a hand on her daughter’s arm, her tone deceptively soft.
"Relax, Chloe, even if she doesn’t love you enough to ever call you her sister" she murmured so everyone could hear, with a sly smile tugging at the corners of her lips.
"You’ll get what you want soon enough. Just be patient, and let her have her way just like she had always done."
Then Chloe let out a huff, crossing her arms, but she didn’t argue.
Then, Valentina’s father leaned forward, his expression hardening as he fixed his gaze on Raymond.
"I’m not going to repeat myself again," he said, his voice low and firm, each word carrying a warning. "As Bernard already told you, we don’t even need to be offering you money. We have a lawyer who can wipe out this joke of a marriage with one phone call."
Still Raymond didn’t react, didn’t even blink.
His silence infuriated the older man.
"You think you can stand here, in front of me, and pretend you belong in this family?" Valentina’s father’s lips curled in disgust.
"You’re nothing. Nobody. What, because you changed your clothes and cut your hair, you think that makes you someone new?"
Then he let out a mocking laugh, shaking his head.
"You’re still the same filthy, homeless boy we picked up from under a bridge. Don’t you dare think otherwise."
A heavy silence followed. All eyes were on Raymond.
Would he break? Would he finally take the check and leave?
But Raymond’s expression didn’t change. His eyes remained calm, unwavering, as he slowly glanced down at the divorce papers in front of him.
The room fell even more silent, thick with tension, as Valentina grabbed the divorce papers from the table.
And without hesitation—without a single ounce of fear in her eyes—she threw them.
The crisp pages fluttered in the air before scattering across the polished floor, some landing at her father’s feet.
Everyone froze.
"I don’t need your permission to decide my own life again," Valentina’s voice was sharp, cutting through the silence like a blade. "Even if I ever wanted to divorce my husband, it wouldn’t be because you told me to. You don’t dictate my choices."
Hearing what Valentina just said.
Her father’s expression darkened, his jaw tightening, but she didn’t stop.
"I’ve tolerated your insults, your manipulations, your hypocrisy for far too long," she continued, her chest rising and falling with steady, controlled breaths.
"But this? This is where it stops. I love my husband. And I will not—I will never—leave him just because you think you can buy me back into this family."
