Chapter 54: Chapter 54

At that moment the room stood still, the weight of the moment hanging heavily in the air. No one moved. No one breathed. It was as if time itself had frozen in shock at what had just unfolded before them.

Sebastian lay crumpled on the floor, his hands trembling as they hovered over his bloodied face, his fingers brushing against the empty space where his teeth once were.

A sharp, pained gasp escaped his lips, but the sheer humiliation hurt more than the injury itself.

However Bernard, who had been standing firmly moments ago, took an instinctive step back, his legs buckling slightly.

He didn’t even realize he was moving until his back nearly hit the wall. His eyes, wide with disbelief, flickered from Sebastian to Raymond, as if trying to make sense of reality.

At that moment Valentina’s father’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening on the armrest of his chair.

"What... just happened?" he finally uttered, his voice low, disbelieving. His gaze snapped to Raymond, but his eyes betrayed his confusion. Had this nobody—this man they once looked down on—really just done that?

Maria, however, was the first to explode.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" she shrieked, her voice cutting through the silence like a knife. She shot up from her seat, her body trembling in rage and panic.

"How dare you slap Sebastian?! Do you have any idea what you’ve done?!"

Her sharp gaze darted toward the fallen Sebastian, her hands clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms.

"Of all people!" she hissed, her voice laced with hysteria. "Of all people, you chose to hit Sebastian?!"

Then She turned back to Raymond, her expression twisted with fury. "Do you want to drag this family into a mess we cannot get out of?! Do you even understand what you’ve just done?! Do you think his family will let this slide?!"

She gestured wildly at Sebastian, who was still groaning in pain, his body curled up on the floor like a discarded ragdoll.

"Now that you’ve broken his nose and taken out his teeth, do you think his parents will sit back and listen to any explanation?! Do you even understand who his family is?!"

Her voice escalated, her rage boiling over.

"Sebastian is not just some random person you can lay your hands on, you idiot! His parents won’t listen! They won’t care! They’ll destroy you before you even get the chance to explain yourself!"

Her breaths came short and fast, her chest heaving, her hands shaking with pure frustration and fear.

The weight of her words settled over the room like a heavy fog.

Sebastian, through the pain, could feel the eyes of everyone on him, their gazes shifting between him and Raymond. His body trembled, not just from the pain, but from the sheer humiliation of being knocked down so easily, so publicly.

Then he clenched his fists, his pride shattered, and hatred burned in his eyes.

But Raymond?

Raymond stood completely still, his expression calm, unwavering, and entirely unbothered. As if the chaos unraveling around him didn’t concern him at all.

The room was in chaos. Maria’s voice pierced through the tension again, her words laced with pure rage.

"You’re insane! Completely insane!" she shrieked, her face contorted in disbelief and fury. "Only a madman would do something like this and not even flinch!"

Her voice cracked, her chest heaving as she pointed a shaking finger at Raymond.

"You’re out of your mind! Look at him! You’ve disfigured his face!"

Sebastian, still on the ground, groaned in pain, his head started spinning. He blinked rapidly, but his vision blurred—the world around him tilted and spun. His arms trembled violently as he tried to push himself up, but the moment he lifted his weight off the floor, his legs buckled beneath him, and he collapsed again, gasping for air.

"Ugh—" His voice was barely above a whisper, his lips stained with blood, his once-perfect face swollen and battered.

Valentina’s father, who had been frozen in shock, suddenly snapped back to reality. His fury boiled over, and his voice boomed across the room.

"Get him up! Now!"

His order sent a jolt of urgency through the servants, who had been standing stiffly at the edge of the scene, too afraid to act.

At once, they rushed forward, their hands trembling as they gripped Sebastian’s arms, trying to hoist him up.

But Sebastian’s body refused to cooperate. His legs wobbled, his knees threatening to give out with each attempt to stand. His head lolled to the side, the dizziness refusing to fade.

Then a low grunt of frustration escaped him as his body swayed dangerously, forcing the servants to tighten their hold just to keep him from collapsing again.

His breathing was shallow, his lips parted slightly as he tried to regain control, but it was useless.

The slap had completely rattled him—his pride, his composure, his very existence had been shattered in an instant.

At that moment Maria gritted her teeth even more, her hands clenched into fists of rage as she turned back to Raymond.

"You’ll regret this," she hissed, her eyes burning with vengeance.

"Mark my words, Raymond. You will regret this."

But Raymond?

Raymond didn’t even spare her a glance. His face remained blank, his eyes locked on Sebastian, watching the man struggle to stand as if he were nothing more than an ant beneath his foot.

Sebastian grimaced in agony, his lips parting as if to speak, but no words came.

His jaw hung at an odd angle, the impact of Raymond’s slap leaving it slightly misaligned.

Then his breath came in short, painful gasps, each movement sending a fresh wave of pain through his swollen face.

The room was filled with shock

No one understand what was going on.

The Callum family, once so confident in their plan, now sat frozen, their expressions a mixture of shock and disbelief. Even Maria, who had been screaming moments ago, found herself tongue-tied, her lips parting and closing without a single word escaping.

Then, before anyone could react further, Valentina rose gracefully to her feet, her expression calm yet unwavering.
