My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 212: Everything Is Exposed
Joshua’s phone kept chiming with notifications, messages from various people asking about his situation. Nine did not pay them any attention and directly turned the phone off. Right now, nothing was more important than Joshua’s sleep. Those people had better not disturb him.
Things online were still a complete mess. The scolding grew louder by the minute. Lucas’s fans made a huge fuss, demanding that Joshua apologize to Lucas, and ugly remarks began to surface as well.
They believed that Louis had only just appeared yet was already paying attention to Joshua, and had even gotten angry at Lucas because of Joshua. It was obvious, in their eyes, that Louis must have feelings for Joshua.
For a moment, all kinds of filthy voices rang out, with no one bothering to question the logic behind them.
At the same time, in Louis’s office, the assistant frowned and said quickly, "Judging by the direction these online opinions are taking, this isn’t something Lucas’s fans could pull off on their own. Someone is secretly fanning the flames behind the scenes."
Louis had never felt that his goodwill was this cheap.
He had saved Lucas from Arthur, given him a chance to restore his reputation and start over cleanly, yet he had never realized that Lucas had always been lying in wait, intending to harm Joshua.
Even the reason Lucas sold himself was to deliberately humiliate Joshua. It was only because everything was exposed, with no one left to cover it up, that he ended up in that situation.
Before this, Louis had only been unwilling to let Lucas sink deeper into the mire because of a faint sense of familiarity. Now, he finally realized just how foolish he had been.
If only he had met Joshua earlier. Joshua’s name had even been included in the endorsement candidate materials, yet Louis could not help but wonder why he had not looked through them sooner. It was as if the entire world had been opposing him finding his younger brother again.
Fortunately, it was not too late.
"Have you gathered enough evidence?" Louis asked, his gaze icy. Since they had dared to touch his younger brother, they should be prepared to face punishment.
Just then, the assistant suddenly exclaimed in shock, "There’s a change online, sir!"
Louis frowned.
Everything happened extremely fast. Almost the moment this incident was pushed to its climax, an anonymous account appeared out of nowhere. It not only provided all kinds of audio recordings, but also images of every dirty deed Lucas had committed.
What was even worse was that it exposed the truth behind the role Lucas obtained in the latest film he was promoting. He had gotten it by selling himself to the director, and the person who should have received the role had been eliminated overnight.
The fans immediately connected all the dots. The evidence was so clear that it left Lucas with almost no room to turn things around. At this point, even if the fans did not want to believe it, they had no choice but to. The internet descended into total chaos and the topic was even pushed onto the hot searches.
Many fans mocked him for loving to do dirty things, while countless others launched a crusade against Lucas and that director, frantically demanding that the dark curtain over the entertainment industry be torn away.
If Lucas had been forced, perhaps there would still have been voices speaking up for him. However, what was exposed showed that it had been entirely voluntary. After being exposed by Lance, he could not wait for his reputation to recover, nor was he willing to leave the glamorous entertainment industry, so he accepted the deal.
The ShineOn group chat, or rather, a group called ShineOn that only had three people, Leonard, Luther, and Henry.
At this moment, Leonard and Luther were calling Henry like crazy.
But Henry only left a single message: [It wasn’t me], and then disappeared completely.
If it was not any of the three of them, then who could have done all of this with such speed and with evidence so solid?
The proof was so detailed that it was almost as if the person who wrote the post had always been right by Lucas’s side.
Nine had not expected things to develop like this either.
He had gathered the clues left behind on the internet, but they were not yet enough to stir up any real waves when this post suddenly appeared.
He traced it through the IP address, only to discover that it was a ghost account. Even the IP itself was located extremely far away, not in Celestia at all.
So who was it, really? Because of this, a feeling rose in Nine’s heart, as if everything was slipping out of control.
Meanwhile, the one stirring the muddy waters was sitting on the top floor of a skyscraper belonging to the Atius Group.
His fingertips tapped lightly against the tabletop as Arthur stared intently at the computer screen in front of him.
On the screen, the program City to Country was playing again. Joshua had unexpectedly found a matsutake mushroom. His eyes sparkled as he looked toward the camera, and even with his face smudged with dirt, it could not conceal his brightness.
Arthur’s fingertip lightly brushed across Joshua’s eyes on the screen, then suddenly pressed down a little harder, causing the colors on the display to shift.
At that moment, the office door was abruptly pushed open. Someone was escorted inside. It was none other than Lucas’s manager.
The manager’s legs had gone weak. He was completely unable to speak and was pressed straight down onto the floor.
Arthur gently stroked the beautiful eyes on the screen once more before turning his gaze to the manager and asking softly, "Where is Lucas?"
"I... I’ve already called him, sir. He will definitely be here soon..."
Arthur smiled faintly. His gentle expression spread across his face, looking almost pleasing to the eye, yet it did nothing to make the manager dare meet his gaze.
Arthur sighed lightly. "Don’t look so frightened. I invited you here only to remind you to prepare to terminate your contract with Lucas."
Clearly, the company had no intention of continuing with Lucas either. After something like this had happened, no matter what, Lucas would be discarded. The manager simply did not understand why Arthur had chosen to personally remind him of this matter.
Once everything was settled, the manager was directly thrown out the door. He had just managed to steady himself and was about to leave in a hurry when he happened to see Lucas being dragged over this way.
"Let go of me. You’re breaking the law!"
His voice was piercingly shrill, but at this point, there was no one left who could save him.
Lucas was both desperate and terrified. He could not understand how things had turned out like this.
Earlier, he had happily finished filming Actors Running. Without Joshua around, he had even felt that the air itself was fresher than ever.
But afterward, the looks people gave him began to turn strange, yet no matter how hard he tried, he could not figure out why.
It was only after he finished shooting and saw what was happening online that it felt like a bolt from the blue. Lucas felt his head buzzing, his entire body as if it had been plunged into a tub of ice water. He could not think of anything at all except fear.
This... how could it be...
But before he could do anything, he was already dragged away, once again brought to that familiar building.
The fear surged almost beyond control, so the moment he saw his manager, Lucas was like someone who had seen a savior.
"Please, you have to save me. I’m your artist. You can’t just abandon me like this!"
The manager’s expression was cold. "From today onward, you are no longer my artist, Lucas. This place doesn’t suit you. You should go back to being an ordinary person." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Lucas screamed, his eyes bloodshot. "What do you mean? Are you abandoning me?! No, no, this is a breach of contract!"
"Just look at the mess you’ve caused. The fact that the company isn’t demanding liquidated damages from you is already the limit!"
With that, he flicked his sleeve and left. At the same time, he suddenly realized that this was probably Arthur’s intention, to let the news that Lucas was being cast aside reach him as early as possible.
But what was the point of doing that? The manager could not understand at all.
At this moment, Lucas had even stopped struggling and screaming. The manager’s words were like a heavy hammer smashing straight into his head.
He stared wide-eyed at the door in front of him, knowing full well that behind it was a devil wearing a human face. Yet right now, he desperately longed to step inside. Because he knew that devil did not only bring pain, but could also bring hope to the path of his life that seemed to have fallen into darkness.
