My Idol System: An Idol, But Also A Savior-Chapter 217: Reunion
Joshua stared at Louis in a daze, then realized that the parents standing beside Louis were also staring fixedly at he.
He didn’t know what they wanted to do or say, but since he was already here, he could only rein in his emotions and try to make conversation.
He looked at Louis, nodded, and said softly, "I’m Joshua." He stiffly introduced himself again.
The family of three nodded repeatedly. "That’s right, it’s Joshua."
Joshua looked at them with some confusion. He had never seen his family treat a stranger like this before.
Don’t be fooled by how Mrs. Adonis seemed frivolous at home, or how Mr. Adonis appeared afraid of his wife—out in the world, they were all sharks in the business circle. How could they ever show expressions like this?
Noticing Joshua’s gaze, Louis couldn’t help coughing lightly. Mr. and Mrs. Adonis immediately restrained their smiles a little.
Mrs. Adonis stepped forward and said softly, "Come on, Joshua, let’s sit at the table first."
Joshua nodded and walked over, his eyes sweeping across the whole family again and again, unable to stop himself. He missed them so much. He didn’t know when he would be able to meet them face to face like this again.
The Adonis family had practically memorized all the information about Joshua. What was worth mentioning was that they couldn’t find anything at all about Joshua’s past, as if the first time he appeared was on the program Shining Path.
They knew how hard Joshua had tried, knew that he was loved by many people, and also knew that he had once been obstructed. Yet he still shone, happily dancing on the stage.
Looking at Joshua sitting obediently in front of them, for a moment, they didn’t know where to begin.
Only Joshua seemed a little restless. He asked directly, "Everyone asked Henry to arrange this meeting—was there something you wanted to talk to me about?"
All of a sudden, Joshua couldn’t help thinking of Lucas. He had heard many rumors about Louis and Lucas—everyone said Louis treated Lucas like a younger brother. It couldn’t really be that bad, could it? Surely the entire Adonis family wouldn’t come to see he just because of Lucas...
Normally, Joshua wouldn’t easily believe rumors like these. But when it came to his family, he was always especially sensitive—and not very rational.
The Adonis family all noticed that the longer Joshua sat there, the more uneasy he seemed. They couldn’t help feeling a bit bitter. Clearly, he was their son, yet facing them, he couldn’t relax at all. Louis smiled and asked, "Joshua, how about we order something to eat first? I heard the desserts here are really good."
Joshua shook his head. "If this is because of Lucas, then there’s no need for everyone to do this."
Lucas? Which Lucas? Mr. and Mrs. Adonis didn’t even know who Lucas was.
They simultaneously looked toward Louis, only to see him quickly shake his head and say seriously, "It has nothing to do with Lucas, Joshua. You don’t need to overthink it."
Hearing this, Joshua looked at Louis in surprise, as if asking: if not because of Lucas, then what was it for?
Louis knew that at this point, they could only get straight to the point. He said slowly, "You might feel that this is very crazy, but... take a look at this first."
As he spoke, he took out three paternity test reports.
Joshua didn’t even know what they were until he opened them. The shock on his face was almost impossible to hide—so much so that it bordered on disbelief. All right, he hadn’t expected to share blood ties with parents and an older brother in this world. But at least he had memories from his previous life—yet them... why would they proactively do this kind of test? And where did they even get his sample?
Joshua couldn’t help recalling the toothbrush Henry had said he accidentally threw into the trash. Everything suddenly seemed to make sense.
He instinctively looked up, only to see his parents and older brother watching he with hopeful eyes. He wasn’t sure whether they had memories from a past life.
But before he could say anything, his mother spoke first. "Joshua, you may find this very strange. We didn’t expect this situation either. It’s as if only after returning to Celestia did our world become clearer than ever before. We always felt that something was missing in our family—until we met you, Joshua. You are definitely a part of the Adonis family."
So they didn’t remember what happened in their previous life, yet they still felt that he was their son—and had even done the paternity test before he did.
Tap, tap...
Two drops of tears suddenly fell, soaking into the paper before him, followed by even more tears.
The Adonis family froze. Mrs. Adonis hurried forward and grabbed Joshua’s hand, anxiously asking, "Joshua, what’s wrong? Are you in pain somewhere?"
Joshua shook his head, unable to speak for a moment. Mr. Adonis stepped forward, intending to pat Joshua’s shoulder in comfort, but in the end his hand shifted upward, gently rubbing Joshua’s head. "It’s okay if you can’t accept this right away. It was our negligence that caused us to lose you..."
Even though they hadn’t actually given birth to Joshua, only finding him now was undeniably their fault.
Joshua shook his head. He said softly, "Even if you wanted to, you wouldn’t have been able to find me."
The Adonis family couldn’t help looking at Joshua in shock.
Joshua lifted his head to face them. He smiled and said gently, "I only just appeared in this world. Before that, I was somewhere else. And there... you were my family too..."
"I thought I had lost all of you. I thought I hadn’t protected you, that I’d failed you. I thought you must have forgotten me..."
Louis suddenly pulled Joshua into an embrace. "No. How could we ever forget you? We’ve always been waiting, hoping to see you again." And at this moment, that time had finally arrived.
Mr. and Mrs. Adonis also opened their arms and hugged them tightly. They didn’t doubt Joshua’s words at all. No matter how unbelievable they sounded, right now they seemed to be the perfect answer to everything happening here.
Feeling Joshua cry so hard that his body trembled, it was as if a piece of the Adonis family’s hearts had been carved out—an unfamiliar, aching pain. Joshua must have gone through so much: suddenly losing his family, arriving in a strange world with no one by his side. The child must have been terrified... and now, all they felt was regret that they hadn’t found Joshua sooner.
"All right, all right, wipe your tears—goodness." Mrs. Adonis took out a handkerchief and gently dabbed at the tears on Joshua’s face, but no matter how she dabbed, it didn’t seem to help. Joshua was no longer sobbing, only letting out small hiccupping sounds now and then, yet his tears kept flowing as if they simply wouldn’t stop.
Joshua held his mother’s hand and shook his head, saying softly, "I’ll be fine after a while."
The expressions of the Adonis family quietly grew heavier. Just what had Joshua gone through? He seemed almost unable to control his tears at all.
But for now, they couldn’t ask about these things yet.
Louis scooped up a spoonful of dessert and brought it to Joshua’s lips. Joshua obediently opened his mouth. As the sweetness spread across his tongue and he tasted the soft, fluffy cake, he couldn’t help narrowing his eyes in happiness. Even with two streams of tears still flowing nonstop, they couldn’t hide his joy.
This was great—truly great. He had really met them again, alive and well, vibrant and breathing... not hollow corpses.
At that thought, Joshua’s tears overflowed again, even harder to control.
The Adonis family all grew a little flustered. Was this really something that didn’t require a trip to the hospital?
Just then, the door to the private room suddenly opened. Henry walked in, his face as calm as ever. Yet even though Joshua’s vision was blurred by tears, he recognized at a single glance that this person was not just "Henry."
This was... his Henry.
Joshua stared blankly as Henry walked toward him step by step. Henry took Joshua by the hand and pulled him up, then calmly looked at the Adonis family. "You can contact Joshua after you return. His condition isn’t very stable right now."
The Adonis family knew that they didn’t yet truly understand Joshua, and that rushing things would only make a mess. In the end, reluctant as they were, they followed Joshua outside, holding him and saying goodbye for a long time before finally letting him leave.
The moment Henry closed the car door and sat down, he felt a weight crash into him. Joshua lunged into his arms like a rabbit, wrapping both arms around Henry’s neck, his voice bright as he called out, "Henry!"
His face was still smeared with tears, yet he looked happier than ever.
Today was truly the happiest day of his life—reuniting with his family, and even getting to see Henry in the morning!
