My Infinite Cultivation System-Chapter 59: Coming out from the tower
Alex challenged the next phase. It would be a battle with grandmaster level monsters. To normal humans, grandmasters were godlike existences. Even the strongest mortals with the best techniques would struggle to scratch them. They could manipulate energy, move at speeds that blurred vision, and their bodies were reinforced to a superhuman degree.
This time Alex didn’t wait for them to come. He activated his alchemy talent and gravity manipulation simultaneously. The moment the ten grandmaster beasts materialized, he tried the same combination that had worked so effortlessly on the previous floor. He attempted to locate their molecular structures and apply crushing gravity directly.
But these monsters were different.
Suddenly he saw that the ten grandmaster beasts vanished.
Bam!
A tremendous force slammed into his back. He had activated his energy shield skill the moment he sensed danger, but the impact still sent him flying through the air like a ragdoll. The shield flickered and held, barely. Alex activated reverse gravity on himself and kept floating, stabilizing his position in the sky.
The hit couldn’t damage him much, but the pain was immense. His normal human body was not built to withstand such force. Instantly he activated the regeneration skill. Warmth spread through his body and the pain faded away.
Alex’s eyes turned cold. He had underestimated them. These were not mindless beasts charging blindly. They were intelligent, strategic, and coordinated.
"Ice lance."
Ten ice lances materialized in the air around him, each one three meters long and razor sharp. He threw them toward the monsters below with all his strength. The grandmaster beasts dodged effortlessly, but that was exactly what he wanted. The sudden attack forced them to scatter and pause for just a moment.
And Alex just needed that pause.
"Begone."
He activated gravity manipulation on the molecules of their bodies. Not on their entire forms where their own energy could resist, but on the fundamental particles that made up their existence.
Boom. Boom. Boom.
Three of the grandmaster beasts exploded into clouds of molecular dust. The others roared in fury and fear, having just witnessed their companions erased from existence.
Alex didn’t stop. He picked them off one by one, using combinations of elemental skills to create distractions and openings. Fire phoenix here, ice lance there, light flash to blind, gravity to disrupt. Each time he created a pause, he applied molecular annihilation.
Seven more explosions echoed across the battlefield.
Alex smiled victoriously as the last grandmaster beast dissolved into particles. He had broken the record that even his master.
But as an eternal grade talent holder and the user of the system, he shouldn’t be happy with this meager result. This was just the beginning.
"Let’s keep continuing," he thought.
He had already found a strategy that worked. First, stop them in their tracks even for a second. Then handle the rest with molecular gravity. Simple in concept, devastating in execution.
[Congratulations! You have passed the seventh floor. Do you want to challenge the next phase?]
"Yes."
[Now, one hundred grandmaster level monsters will appear. Be prepared.]
The AI voice was calm, but Alex felt his heart rate increase. One hundred. Even with his strategy, this would be a challenge.
The moment the monsters materialized, Alex didn’t hesitate. He unleashed everything he had simultaneously.
Fire phoenix skill erupted behind him, a massive bird of white flames that lit up the entire battlefield. Ice lances formed in clusters.
Fireballs joined them along with a flash of light so intense that even he had to look away for a moment.
"Go."
Boom!
The bombardment of skills slammed into the horde of grandmaster beasts. They were momentarily disoriented, blinded, confused by the sheer variety and volume of attacks. Some dodged, some blocked, some were singed but not seriously injured.
But they were stopped. Even for just a second. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"Perish."
Alex activated molecular gravity on the largest concentration of monsters. Around forty of them couldn’t react in time and exploded into particles simultaneously. The battlefield was suddenly filled with clouds of molecular dust.
Alex floated in the sky, maintaining his position with reverse gravity while continuing to rain down skills. He cycled through every elemental talent he had, creating an endless barrage that kept the remaining monsters off balance.
But some of the grandmaster beasts could also fly. Sixty of them remained, and at least twenty took to the air, rushing toward him with killing intent.
Alex had a difficult time controlling his skills while evading their attacks. He dodged left as a claw passed through where his head had been. He twisted in the air as a tail whip nearly caught his ribs. His energy shield flickered with every near miss.
He activated gravity on the flying monsters, increasing their weight fifty times. They plummeted to the ground, crashing into their own companions below. Before they could recover, he targeted them with molecular annihilation.
Five more gone. Then ten. Then twenty.
The surviving grandmaster beasts adapted. They spread out, making it harder for him to catch multiple at once. They used the terrain for cover. They coordinated their attacks, some drawing his attention while others flanked.
Alex fought for fifty minutes straight. His normal human body screamed in protest. His mental focus wavered. But he pushed through, using regeneration whenever he took damage, using gravity to reposition constantly, using every skill in his arsenal.
Finally, the last grandmaster beast fell.
Alex floated in the sky, breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his face. His body felt like it had been put through a meat grinder. But he had done it.
[Congratulations! You have passed the eighth floor too. Do you want to challenge the next phase?]
Alex chose no.
The next phase would bring martial lord level monsters. Lords were an entirely different category from grandmasters. Against a lord tier beast with his current mortal body, it didn’t matter how much he tried. He wouldn’t be able to kill one now.
Maybe if he achieved some more talents, he would try.
Right now, he wanted to achieve two new talents: telekinesis and illusion. During the battle, he realized that if he had illusion, he could have made them stop much more easily. He could have made them see threats that weren’t there, hear sounds that didn’t exist, hesitate at critical moments.
But that would cost him three slots. That’s where telekinesis came in. It would give him some extra slots as well as the ability to control more objects simultaneously. Now that Elyndros had upgraded his talent, it should be X rank too like Darion’s. So he would be getting a great boost in his power soon.
Telekinesis, illusion, and clairvoyance. He wanted to achieve these three non elemental talents. Also dragon transformation from the vice president. That talent gave a tremendous strength boost.
Alex decided that after copying those four talents, he would leave the Light Domain and start hunting monsters outside. With his power, he would be able to hunt and flee without being caught.
Alex and Anna came out from the neural capsule. Anna was shaken right now. She had seen him using countless talents, combinations that shouldn’t be possible for any single person. She realized that Alex was still hiding his powers. She was sure about that.
She had decided that she would take those secrets with her to her grave if Alex didn’t intend to tell others.
Morgan came to him with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. He looked slightly overwhelmed.
"You have really broken the record and created a new one that is probably going to stay like this forever," he said.
"What are you talking about, teacher? I am going to crush this record soon. I have just something to do, that’s why I chose not to challenge anymore," Alex said.
Morgan was speechless but he still tried to smile. What could he say to someone who just casually shattered the academy’s greatest achievement and talked about doing it again?
"The students are waiting outside," Morgan told him.
"Doesn’t matter."
Alex put on the mask and the sunglasses before leaving the room. The students outside were eagerly waiting to see who would come out. They saw a boy with a disguise and Anna Celestus emerge from the tower building.
"Hey, do you know who that person is with Ms. Celestus? It is obvious that Ms. Celestus was challenging the tower. But why did he get to enter the room with her? Do you think he is her boyfriend?" some students started to guess crazily.
Alex didn’t even look at them. He walked past the crowd like they didn’t exist. Anna followed beside him, her expression was unreadable.
They stopped at the academy gates.
"Anna, I have some errands to run. And then probably I will enter a deep seclusion. Practice hard and don’t stay too far behind me," Alex said with a smile.
Anna felt a pang in her heart as she thought about how she wouldn’t be able to see Alex for a long time. They had grown closer over these past weeks, training together, talking, sharing meals. The thought of him disappearing into seclusion made her chest feel tight.
But she still nodded her head resolutely.
"I will."
"Good. Goodbye for now. Take care and be sure to visit our house more often. My mom would love to have some company while I am in seclusion," Alex said.
"Okay. I promise." Anna nodded again.
"Thanks."
Alex left the school. He got back the feelings of his immense power. He felt completed again.
He flew into the sky without looking back.
Now he knew something important. If someday his energy or cultivation was sealed, he would become very vulnerable. The tower battle had shown him that clearly. Without his powers, he was still dangerous, but against true experts, he would struggle.
"I need to find a method to gain strength physically. Not just defense, but strength where even if my cultivation is sealed, I won’t become like this."
He needed a backup plan. A foundation that couldn’t be taken away.
