My Informative Cultivation Life-Chapter 581 - 298: The Duel Between Immortal Kings
Everyone headed north, traversing this desolate and dim land.
One day, two days, three days... Two months passed in succession.
During this time, they encountered several bouts of Huang Feng, dodging from east to west, wandering aimlessly across the land.
Suddenly, a whistling sound reached their ears.
"My heavens! Quick, look behind you!"
On hearing this, everyone looked back, and their faces instantly fell.
The gloomy land they had left behind was now engulfed by an overwhelming Huang Feng rising from the horizon like a flood, silent and seemingly calm. Yet to everyone’s eyes, it was the Reaper in motion.
The Huang Feng had arisen without warning, which was what the group feared the most. If there were no palace nearby, their death was certain.
If it hadn’t been for Yang Ji’s warning earlier, they would have nearly perished. In the end, it was thanks to him that they found a dilapidated palace to take shelter in and narrowly escape disaster.
This time, as the Huang Feng sprang up behind them without any warning, even Yang Ji’s complexion changed. The others turned as pale as ghosts, uncertain of how to respond.
"We need to hurry."
The group quickly turned around and picked up the pace, running as fast as they could without stirring up the Huang Feng.
A mere gust of the yellow winds could inflict heavy injuries on them. If they were engulfed in this vast expanse of dense Huang Feng, they would be reduced to nothing but bones.
The deathly force within the Huang Feng sent shivers down their spines, an indescribable feeling of oppressive fear.
To walk was the only way to survive.
The rolling Huang Feng seemed slow, but it moved quickly, covering three yards in the blink of an eye and rapidly approaching from behind.
Despair!
Death!
These feelings filled everyone’s hearts when they were about to make a desperate attempt to flee through flight.
That’s when they heard Yang Ji shout, "Ahead! There’s a cluster of palaces ahead. Let’s get inside and hide."
"Truly a lifesaver in a hopeless situation!" The group was overjoyed.
"There’s something off about this palace!" Ba Kui, the elder, suddenly exclaimed.
Everyone looked and were taken aback.
The palace itself was not unusual; they had seen plenty along the way. But the one before them was resplendent with gold highlights, its colors still vibrant amid the desolate wasteland, making it seem all the more out of place and eerie.
"Could this be the lair of the Immortal Armor Army Spirits?" someone said with a trembling voice.
"No matter. The Huang Feng is closing in, and we have no other choice. Being caught by the Huang Feng means certain death, so we might as well take shelter in the palace first and assess the situation." Your journey continues on novelbuddy
With the Huang Feng looming, connecting heaven and earth and rolling forward, the group hesitated no longer and rushed into the palace.
As they entered, the group was taken aback.
The exterior of the palace was ornate with gilded bricks, but the interior was simple and dreary, a stark contrast, like a skilled predator adept at camouflage.
They stood at the entrance, surveying the entire palace.
The interior was spacious, the most eye-catching feature being ten statues, all Immortal Armor Army Statues.
"These are Immortal Armor Army Statues, but why do I feel like they’re staring at me?" A Red Dust Immortal felt an inexplicable chill down his spine. Changing positions several times, it seemed as if no matter where he looked from, the eyes of the statues were following him.
"I have the same feeling," Ba Kui, the elder, said gravely.
The rest felt the same, and their wariness intensified.
"Judging by the aura of these Immortal Armor Army Statues, each of them is extraordinary, probably at least at the level of an Ultimate Immortal," Ba Kui, the elder, said with a solemn face, whispering, "Let’s wait at the entrance; once the Huang Feng has passed, we’ll leave this palace immediately. Something here gives me the feeling that we’re being watched from the shadows."
Hearing this, everyone felt a shiver down their spines and became more alert, activating their mystical eye abilities to scrutinize the entire palace.
"No good, these are not statues, but Immortal Armor Army Spirits as powerful as a Golden Immortal, intelligent Death Spirits!" As Yang Ji took in the scene, his expression turned grave. In order to avoid causing panic, he didn’t alert the others through telepathy.
He planned to lead everyone out as soon as the Huang Feng had passed.
"What’s going on? Look, the statue on the far end... it’s gone!" A Red Dust Immortal suddenly exclaimed, pointing to the left.
Hearing this, everyone looked in that direction, and their faces turned pale upon realizing that the Immortal Armor Army Statue was indeed missing.
"Where did the statue go? Where could it have run off to?"
"Did anyone check how many statues there were before? Are you certain there was a statue there?"
"I am sure there was, but now it’s gone." the man replied, bewildered.
"Could it be... you simply mistook what you saw earlier?" the group asked hesitantly, hardly believing their own suggestion.
"No, I am certain it was there!" the man asserted.
"Stop suspecting ghosts and shadows; we’ll leave as soon as the Huang Feng passes," Ba Kui, the elder, said firmly.
Time passed slowly, and the Huang Feng blustered for the duration of an incense stick, showing no signs of stopping.
The group waited with somber expressions when suddenly a cold wind began to blow from behind them. This chill was extraordinary; despite their prowess, they all felt their spines turn icy.
"Why is there a wind now?" Curious, they turned around to look and saw a low wailing sound emanating from deep within the palace. Chilling breezes swept out, stirring up the dust on the floor into a ghostly dance, creating a sinister atmosphere.
"Something’s not right!" Ba Kui, the elder, sensed the anomaly. Everyone also felt the creepiness, but as they turned around, they let out a collective gasp and stumbled backward.
A tall and imposing figure from the Immortal Armor Army had appeared at the entrance out of nowhere, blocking their path. Its eyes were exceptionally cold, void of any warmth.
