Chapter 725 – Reunion with Sheng'er, the Deathless Tomb's Trap - Part 3

Only beings steeped in extreme Yin could survive long inside the Deathless Tomb. But with enough birds sent in succession, Li Yuan managed to stitch together a glimpse of what lay beyond, one frame at a time.

Amid the darkness stood bird-like shadows, blending into the gloom. It was impossible to tell whether they were crows or something far more sinister.

In the midst of the suspended coffins, the people within still looked eerily lifelike. But Li Yuan only managed to glimpse a few before something else caught his eye.

A single coffin, ghostly blue and radiant with sacred light, drew his attention.

He couldn’t see the figure inside. But long, tangled black hair flowed out of it like underwater weeds, spilling over the coffin’s edge, trailing down its carved surface, even threading through the holes of a nearby twin-fish statue.

It was a haunting sight.

Though he couldn’t make out a face, Li Yuan’s instincts flared. He was almost certain it had to be Sheng'er.

He guided a bird closer, trying to circle around and get a clearer look at the coffin from the front.

But just then, out of nowhere, a shadow swooped in from the side.

Its hooked beak, curved like a sickle, slashed down in an instant and impaled the bird clean through. With a flick of its neck, the creature tossed the bird into its mouth, rows of teeth, sharp as sunflower seeds, snapping shut.

In that moment, something shifted inside the Deathless Tomb.

The whole place stirred. Waves of black bird shadows surged from within, darting down the corridor toward the entrance.

Li Yuan’s vision inside the tomb was wiped out all at once.

He steadied himself and looked toward the entrance.

Whoosh!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Massive crows burst forth from the darkness, each dragging long, black tails behind them, jostling and shoving to get out first. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

These crows were no ordinary birds. Each was the size of a peacock, trailing jet-black feathers like streamers. Their emergence was both majestic and terrifying, like something out of myth. It was hard not to think of phoenixes when you saw them.

Above their heads floated 5,000~ 15,000.

An entire sky darkened with fourth rank crows. The sheer scale of it was breathtaking.

But they had only just emerged, and it was like they’d slammed straight into a vacuum.

Not a single one could move a feather forward.

Li Yuan’s domain had already enveloped this place.

And under his sky, not a single thing was getting out.

“Sheng'er,” Li Yuan called out to the mutated crows.

No response.

His gaze swept over the flock, and he noticed something strange. Every single one of them had eerie turquoise eyes. And all of them were staring directly at him, not a trace of fear among them.

Then, unexpectedly, one of the crows cried out, “Papa?”

Li Yuan relaxed the grip of his domain, letting that crow fly to him freely.

“Papa...” the crow croaked again, weakly.

Li Yuan glanced once more at the sea of green-eyed crows, then fixed his full attention on the one before him.

It was clear now. Even though Sheng'er had managed to make it into the Deathless Tomb, she had lost ground in the struggle against the second rank ghost.

If the ratio of crows represented the share of control within their fused soul, then Sheng'er was barely hanging on, clinging to existence by a thread.

“How long...has it been?” she asked weakly.

Li Yuan replied, “Only 180 years.”

“180 years...” Sheng'er murmured.

Li Yuan looked at the crows filling the sky and said, “Spiritual energy has returned. We’ll worry about the rest later. First, how do we deal with this ghost?”

The large crow shook its head slowly.

“Its soul is completely entangled with mine. I don’t know how to separate us. But inside the Deathless Tomb, it can’t overpower me. We’re at a deadlock. If I ever leave the tomb, though, I think it would consume me instantly.

“And that’s what led to this. Out of every thousand crows you see, maybe one is me. Out of a hundred thousand, only a hundred. Now that spiritual energy has returned, these crows will all start flying out. I won’t be able to stop them.”

Li Yuan pulled the large crow into his arms, cradling her gently. That long-lost feeling of fatherly warmth welled up from deep within him. He whispered, “It’ll be all right.”

“No, it won’t,” Sheng'er said. “They were all still asleep...until you woke them. If you don’t stay here to keep them suppressed, the moment you leave, they’ll escape. And once they reach the mortal world, they’ll bring disaster with them. He’s really powerful.”

Li Yuan asked quietly, “Do you know where he came from?”

The large crow shook her head and let out a dry caw. “It just...happened suddenly. But Third and Fourth Mama, they’re okay.”

Li Yuan turned to glance into the void.

Within the voidveil, the dark realm of the Deathless Tomb revealed its peculiar structure, a spiral.

That alone was strange.

In the voidveil, nearly every world, every star, even the Underworld, took the form of spheres. Because to expand into the void, a world had to withstand pressure from all directions equally. That naturally led to a round shape.

But the Deathless Tomb...was a spiral.

And yet, even as a spiral, it clung to the Ancestral Land like a twisted balloon, stubbornly anchored in place.

Li Yuan stared at it for a long moment.

He was trying to understand. What was the Deathless Tomb, really?

In terms of material composition...it reminded him strongly of the Hall of Life he had seen before. Almost too similar.

Could the Deathless Tomb actually be part of the cycle of reincarnation, just a fragment cast out for reasons long forgotten?

The Great Shattering...

The phrase exploded into Li Yuan’s mind like thunder.

The cataclysm before the Age of the Ancient Gods, when the world was torn asunder. It had triggered the rise of the heavenly seal, and perhaps, it was also the moment when reincarnation first broke down.

But what exactly had happened back then?

A thousand thoughts surged through him before he pulled his focus back to the present. His gaze drifted from the swirling void back to the brooding giant crow in front of him.

Sheng’er was clearly still anxious.

Li Yuan chuckled and said, “Don’t worry, my good daughter. Your dad’s going to show you a new trick.”

The big crow tilted her head. “What trick?”

Li Yuan raised his hand. His ordinary-looking palm suddenly radiated divine power. With a gentle push, a small, empty world emerged from the void, like a bubble drifting into existence. It floated forward, expanded slightly, and swallowed the entire ancient locust tree in one gulp, along with all the mutated crows, Tulus, and Qinyuans.

Gone. Just like that.

The giant crow blinked, then flapped her wings with a caw, as if clapping in delight.

Upon grasping the True Will Realm, one could begin forming small worlds.

And Li Yuan, having ascended beyond even the Heavenly Will Realm, could create them as easily as drawing breath, just like how the Radiant Treasure Buddha had once opened 3,000 Worlds.

The locust tree was now sealed away in a pocket world.

But the Deathless Tomb...was still here, stubbornly clinging to its place, though its physical form had faded from sight.

Li Yuan raised his hand again and pushed forward.

One world...

Then another...

And another...

A total of 36 worlds, each like a shimmering soap bubble, swelling into existence and rushing ahead.

Luckily, the Deathless Tomb wasn’t deeply rooted in the main world. It had never really belonged here to begin with. The collision of pocket worlds gently pried it loose, just like when the Human Emperor had once severed the Underworld from the Ancestral Land, carrying Polaris and Valley Obscura with him.

Only this time, Li Yuan did it with far less effort.

Once freed, the Deathless Tomb didn’t orbit the Ancestral Land like a satellite.

Instead, it drifted outward, as if completely immune to the gravitational pull of this world, directionless and unbound.

Li Yuan's newly formed worlds floated after it, like sticky bubbles, eventually clinging to the drifting Deathless Tomb and keeping it tethered just above the Ancestral Land.

But now, if anything from within the Deathless Tomb wanted to reach the main world, it would have to pass through layer after layer of these interlocking bubbles.

Still, Li Yuan frowned.

It wasn’t enough.

Escaping from a world wasn’t hard, not if you knew the coordinates. These little worlds weren’t true prisons.

After a moment’s thought, he shifted strategies.

He reshaped the surrounding pocket worlds, repositioning them to encase the Deathless Tomb completely. Then, with a precise pull, he anchored the whole structure to his own voidship.

Now, the Deathless Tomb wouldn’t drift on its own anymore, it was being towed by him.

When all was done, he looked outward once more, only to find that the towering mountains and vast forests around him had been flattened into barren wasteland.

The land was scarred with jagged, bottomless chasms, like claw marks from some unseen titan.

The very shape of the world had changed.
