My Kingdom Building Done Right!-Chapter 49: Take Everyone, Including The Dogs And Chickens!
As the Black Wolf Tribe experienced the biggest shock of their lives, the Chieftain of the Riverfang Tribe made his way to the top of the cliff, riding his Blood-Crest Raptor.
One of the captains of the Alborin Tribe, Pollux, had come to meet him earlier and passed Ulric’s message.
The message invited him to the cave for a meeting with the new Chieftain of the Black Wolf Tribe, whom Ulric treated as a nephew.
Of course, Kael was very surprised by this development. He didn’t expect Ulric to turn a blind eye to the Black Wolf Tribe’s transgressions and allow their people to enter their domain.
’I guess I made the right choice by coming here,’ Kael thought with a smile on his face.
Since Ulric still honored the bonds of brotherhood with Jason’s father, he was also more likely to uphold the agreement between the Riverfang Tribe and the Alborin Tribe.
All barbarians looked up to men who honor their words, for it was a quality one must have to be recognized as a great chieftain.
When Kael arrived, he was welcomed by Yuni and taken to the meeting room inside the cave.
There, he saw the same figure in wolf-pelt clothing and a mask. Of course, this was Leone, still hiding his identity from Kael.
He hadn’t found time to wear a disguise earlier, so Jason had seen him. But the new chieftain of the Black Wolf Tribe was wise enough to heed Ulric’s warning and keep Leone’s identity a secret.
"Thank you for coming, Kael," Ulric said with a smile. "Jason has already told me the gist of why he came here. I called you here to let you know his reason."
Ulric then gestured to the young man to explain his reason for coming to the Grimjaw Mountain.
"Just like the Riverfang Tribe, we also wish to seek asylum here in the Grimjaw Mountain," Jason replied. "But that’s easier said than done. The other tribes are also eyeing our tribe, waiting for an excuse to invade us by force."
"Well, you reap what you sow," Kael didn’t hold back and stated the obvious. "But helping you or not depends on Ulric’s answer."
The Chieftain of the Riverfang Tribe looked at Ulric and waited for his decision. To his surprise, Ulric glanced at the person wearing the mask and asked him what to do.
"Before I answer that question, I would like to ask you one thing, Jason," Leone said calmly. "That pendant on your neck, where did you get it?"
The young man noticed Jason’s pendant had an emblem he recognized. Although he had already made up his mind to help the Black Wolf Tribe, he still wished to use this opportunity to answer his curiosity.
Kael’s expression turned solemn. The masked figure’s voice sounded young. Would he really be the one to decide the Black Wolf Tribe’s fate?
"This pendant was given to me by my mother," Jason replied. "I’m sure everyone here knows that my father had rescued my mother after she was exiled from the Kingdom of Britannia. The two of them fell in love, and I was the result of that union."
His answer made Leone subconsciously clench his fist. If what Jason said was true, then he had blood ties to a noble family in the kingdom.
"And what’s your mother’s name?" Leone inquired.
"Evelyn," Jason replied calmly. "Her surname is Argus."
’I see... he has blood ties with the Argus Family,’ Leone thought.
The Frontera and Argus Families were allies. In fact, the current head of the Argus Family was an Earl.
Of course, Leone had no intention of sharing this piece of information at the moment. However, it did improve his impression of the sickly young man before him.
"I shall allow you to seek asylum here in the Grimjaw Mountain," Leone said calmly. "I will even let you keep the name of your tribe, like the Riverfang Tribe. However, there is a condition.
"The condition is for your warriors to prioritize the command of the Alborin Tribe over your own orders. What we need is a unified military force that will fight under one banner.
"Only if everyone listens to one commander can we effectively protect the territory."
"And are you that person?" Jason asked. He was both surprised and curious as to why his Uncle Ulric was letting the young man decide their fate.
"That’s right." Leone nodded. "The Alborin Tribe are my vassals. Since I am still learning politics, Ulric is currently handling the diplomacy."
Kael and Jason looked at the masked man in disbelief before shifting their gaze to Ulric, asking him to confirm.
"It’s true," Ulric replied. "The Alborin Tribe treats him as our Great Chieftain."
Kael was so shocked that he almost pulled his beard too hard. Things were starting to fall in place.
From the very start, he had found it hard to believe that Ulric and the Alborin Tribe managed to defeat Arlo and his allied tribes by a huge margin.
Others even said it was a miracle.
Originally, the tribal war’s only possible outcome should’ve been the Alborin Tribe’s defeat.
Everyone had been so shocked to hear the result that it spread through the Borderlands like wildfire. Not only did the Black Wolf Tribe lose, but Arlo also died.
"I see... so you are the one who tamed the Lord of the Mountain," Kael said in understanding.
Leone didn’t deny or affirm Kael’s statement. He didn’t tame Astravor. The two had merely agreed to work together that one time.
"But there’s still one problem," Ulric spoke up. "If the other tribes notice the Black Wolf Tribe evacuating, they won’t let them leave peacefully."
Jason nodded in agreement. "We knew they would make their move if they caught us. This is why I personally came to ask for your help, Uncle."
"I understand, but helping you carries a lot of risk, Jason," Ulric replied. "Risks we might not be able to han—"
"We will help them," Leone interjected. "Since they need asylum, we will take them all in!"
"But Leone..."
"No buts. We’ll go there and take them all in! We won’t leave anyone behind!"
The young man’s words were so firm, so impassioned that Kael and Jason couldn’t help but feel in awe.
However, Ulric knew better.
Leone might be righteous, kind, and caring, but he wouldn’t agree to something so risky without a good reason.
"May I ask why we must take this risk?" Ulric asked.
Even if he recognized Leone as their Great Chieftain, that didn’t mean he would agree to anything he said without a proper reason.
He wasn’t a "Yes Man" who would agree to all the young man’s decisions, regardless of whether they were right or wrong. If he allowed Leone to do something reckless, they could all fall into ruin.
But Leone’s answer changed Ulric’s mind.
"It’s my Seventh Mission, Ulric," Leone said calmly.
"And the rewards?" Ulric looked at the young man with a serious expression on his face.
"Very good," Leone replied. "It will make you and everyone under our banner stronger."
Ulric had personally experienced Leone’s miraculous powers, so he didn’t doubt the young man’s words.
Leone even gestured for him to look at the details of the mission and the rewards for completing them.
As soon as Ulric saw them, his hesitation instantly vanished.
"We will take everyone back here, including their dogs and chickens!" Ulric vowed.
"Good!" Leone nodded in satisfaction. "Take everyone back. If someone gets in the way, feel free to smack them!"
He badly needed to increase their population. Since someone had ethically served their whole tribe on a silver platter, why shouldn’t he take a bite?
Ulric immediately left the cave to give out orders to his people. He was so eager, he’d teleport if he could. In any case, they must head to the Black Wolf Tribe’s location and bring everyone back to Grimjaw Mountain as soon as possible.
That way Leone could claim his rewards and benefit all of them!
Since he was in a hurry, he immediately ordered twenty of the warriors from the Riverfang Tribe and five warriors from the Alborin Tribe to accompany him to the Black Wolf Tribe.
When Lynceus and his fellow warriors heard this, they didn’t hesitate to ask to tag along, even though they were still tired from their journey.
However, they asked the Alborin Tribe to let Jason stay and recuperate, for the journey had taken a toll on his health.
Two hours later, the group of thirty warriors departed, all armed to the teeth.
Since Leone was a bit worried about them, he asked Blitz to accompany Ulric to the Black Wolf Tribe.
He specifically ordered the squirrel to show no mercy to anyone who would get in the way of completing his mission!
The little squirrel saluted the young man before leaving the mountain with Ulric.
Kael watched these forces go down the mountain. After a while, he shifted his gaze to the masked man, whom he wished to get close to while Ulric was away.
Little did he know, Leone had exactly intended for this to happen.
As long as Kael became his vassal, the Riverfang Tribe would be counted as his subjects.
This meant that he would earn more BP every day, the currency he needed to purchase items from the Arcane Store.
