My Life In A Fantasy, Women-Dominated World-Chapter 159: You Don’t Scare Me.
"Do it. Kill them."
Each word out of that gold capped fungus woman was dripping with poison, which seemed to pain Aaron spiritually rather than physically.
She seemed to have a counter for everything he could manage to imagine or think of, as if he was just a powerless little man in her eyes.
Like a domesticated dragon, capable of destroying kingdoms and yet unable to fight for its own freedom.
At least that’s how he feels currently.
He didn’t give in to her cold threat, not daring to hurt the two hostages in his palms. Doing so was only a quick ticket to hell.
"Fine." He spat a thick glob of saliva, hitting a random mushfolk on the cap, causing him to tip over and writhe on the floor, unable to stand up himself.
After all, he only had two legs, a weird mushroom stem carved face and the circular mushroom cap.
The great elder watched the scene with detachment, scoffing coldly with faint amusement in her voice, "Then are you ready to help our tribe or not?"
"It depends. How long will it take? I will give you a fair warning, if I get a single pain flare from your poison, I will abandon the quest and hunt each and every member of your tribe myself." He threatened.
"You don’t scare me." The great elder matched his gaze evenly, before smirking, "But you do not need to worry. I had already expected such a response."
Saying that, she fished out a few long cylindrical vials that were filled to the brim with a colourful sludgy paste.
"These are the vials of Narcopaste, created by me personally using an old family recipe. It is capable of raising both your narcotic resistance as well as delaying the effects of that poison by a day." She explained.
Aaron’s eyelids twitched furiously.
That woman really did have a counter to his every excuse.
But maybe the other tribes also had the Narcopaste and he could ask them to analyze it to try and reverse engineer an antidote to his pois...
"However, since the Narcopaste itself is a narcotic, it will raise your resistance to the peak in three doses, after which it will stop proving effective for delaying the effects of your poison.
So in reality, if you want to avoid the pain flare, you only have 5 days.
And don’t worry, you can take all three doses at once and then get on with the task I just gave you."
While speaking, she walked to him fearlessly and extended her tiny hand, intending to hand him over the tiny vials of liquid.
She didn’t seem worried in the slightest that he might harm her. Nope.
Aaron looked at her extended hand, lips twitching before he reluctantly lowered his left hand and set off the smaller child version of Alyssa while taking the three vials from the elder.
Of course, he didn’t release Alyssa even yet.
And the great elder seemed to notice it as well.
She looked at his right fist, in which Alyssa was trapped inside, screaming for him to let her go or she would bite.
But considering she didn’t take any action to back her threats, Aaron felt secure thinking that she didn’t want to get crushed into a paste.
He still had doubts regarding the elder’s claim that they don’t truly die but get reborn, but Aaron had also read many fictions and fantasies which told him that such a thing wasn’t impossible.
Though he was a little surprised.
He expected the power of rebirth from the mythical beings such as phoenixes, not these weird mushroom folks.
Seeing that Aaron still wasn’t consuming the vials or letting Alyssa go, the great elder only scoffed in amusement.
"If you want her so badly then you can have her. She can show you the ways to the five tribes, their fields as well as the location of their gold shrooms.
But beware. If Alyssa gets shown or anyone finds out that it was our tribe that instigated this ’heist’, I will not give you the antidote." She warned ominously.
"ELDER, NOOO!" Alyssa screamed loudly the moment Aaron’s palm loosened slightly due to his surprise, "Don’t sacrifice me to this monster! PLEASE!"
"I am no monster, woman." Aaron said with an exhausted sigh.
But from Alyssa’s eyes, that scene was nothing less of a horror show.
His pearly white, large teeth which were capable of tearing through her fragile body with a single bite, the creepy wide grin that he was giving her...
And worst of all, his deep and raspy voice that made her heart fall to the rock bottom.
She had seen many predators in her lifetime, including the black raven that was even larger than eagles on Earth... but none of them scared her more than Aaron.
"Silent, Alyssa. Take some responsibility as my heir. Do you want me to bury you back into soil and wait for you to bloom into goldshrooms?"
"Heuk!" Alyssa breathed a short breath, shrinking backwards at the elder’s cold threat.
It was safe to say that she would be joining Aaron on his trip, whether she liked it or not.
"I don’t think I need to mention it, but if anything happens to Alyssa then your antidote..." The great elder trailed off, looking up and smiling at Aaron, "I don’t need to finish the sentence, do I?"
Aaron didn’t bother to give any verbal response, shifting his knees and applying force on his leg to bring himself up to his full, respectable height.
He even began to pat his clothes, despite them being made out of nanobots and capable of self cleaning his entire body.
But the reason for it was...
Huge clouds of dust were left in the wake of each pat on his clothes, falling like a dusty shower onto the mushfolks under himself.
Faint murmurs erupted close to his feet but he couldn’t care less as he grunted in annoyance and looked at his right palm, where Alyssa was sitting on his palm with a saddened expression on her face.
"Directions?" he said coldly.
