Chapter 678: Taming the Sea Dragon Emperor

Elina stood near the pier, her face tense with worry as her eyes searched the surroundings in a mix of panic and confusion.

"What should I do? Where did Young Master go? Is he alright?"

One question after another raced through her mind, intensifying her anxiety.

She trusted Leon’s strength and abilities, of course—but the unease refused to fade.

As she stood lost in thought, the surface of the sea suddenly stirred, large bubbles rising to break the stillness.

Moments later, the colossal figure of the Sea Dragon Emperor emerged, letting out a soul-shaking roar.

Elina gasped and instinctively stumbled ten steps back.

Before she could react further, the dragon locked eyes with her, then slowly advanced—its gaze sharp and threatening, as if ready to attack.

Panicked, Elina raised her right hand, preparing to cast a spell—until Leon’s voice rang out from above the dragon’s head.

"Don’t attack!"

Her eyes widened in disbelief. There, standing atop the dragon’s head, was Leon.

"Young Master? You..." She froze, unable to form her words, overwhelmed by the sight before her.

Just moments ago, Leon had been lost beneath the sea—yet now he stood above the mighty monster.

How could that happen?

Leon leapt down and landed gently in front of her, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"You don’t have to worry anymore," Leon said softly. He glanced up at the massive dragon behind him, which had lowered its head toward him.

Gently, he rubbed its snout. "I’ve tamed the Sea Dragon Emperor. It won’t be a threat anymore—not to us, and not to anyone else."

Elina stood frozen, stunned, until his words finally sank in.

"H-Hiss!" She gasped in fear, her voice trembling as she looked at Leon in disbelief. "Young Master, are you serious? You really tamed that dragon?"

"Of course." Leon nodded casually. Then, ignoring the panic in her eyes, he took her hand and led her toward the dragon’s head.

"No!" Elina screamed, trying to pull her hand free—but she couldn’t break his grip.

She shut her eyes tightly, bracing for the worst, convinced the dragon was about to devour her.

But... nothing happened.

To her surprise, her hand—resting gently on the dragon’s chin—remained completely unharmed.

Timidly, she opened her eyes and found the dragon surprisingly docile under her touch.

"Wow..." she gasped, staring at her hand in disbelief. "It really worked... the dragon is tame!"

As if reacting to her amazement, the dragon suddenly lifted her into the air, prompting a terrified scream.

But before she could fall, it caught her with a swift motion of its head.

Elina blinked in shock. From atop the dragon’s head, she had a clear view of Nerivale’s cityscape stretching out in the distance.

Even Leon, standing below, looked so small from where she was.

"This is amazing!" she shouted, her fear melting away into joy.

The sea breeze brushed against her face, but she stayed steady, gripping one of the dragon’s horns tightly.

Seeing how happy she was, Leon smiled quietly and folded his arms across his chest.

Once the dragon sensed she’d had enough excitement, it gently lowered her back down beside Leon.

"Young Master, that was incredible! I’ve never experienced anything so thrilling!" Elina exclaimed, bouncing with excitement as she clung tightly to his right arm.

Elina now knew she had made the right choice in following Leon.

Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined riding a dragon—and yet it was real, and it was thrilling.

Leon chuckled softly and gently patted her head. "This is nothing. Later, I’ll take you to do something even more exciting."

Elina blinked in surprise and looked up at him curiously. "Something more exciting? What do you mean, Young Master?"

Leon only smiled without answering. He slowly loosened her hold on his arm and stepped forward toward the dragon.

The dragon leaned its massive head down and nuzzled against Leon affectionately, like a spoiled pet.

Leon didn’t mind its display of affection. He calmly stroked the side of its head.

Then, he opened his mouth, as if speaking to the dragon.

Behind him, Elina stood in silence, watching with a mix of confusion and curiosity.

"Is the Young Master... talking to that dragon? But how’s that even possible? Can a human really understand a monster’s language?" She wondered silently.

Then it hit her—the memory of a striking red-haired woman who had been with Leon before: the Dragon Empress, Athena Hellness.

"Right! How could I forget?" Elina tapped her forehead with a sigh. "Considering the Young Master’s bond with the Dragon Empress, it makes sense that taming a dragon like this wouldn’t be a challenge for him."

While Elina was lost in her thoughts, Leon had already finished speaking with the dragon and was now walking back toward her.

"Are you ready for something even more exciting?" he asked, a playful glint in his eye.

Snapped back to reality, Elina blinked and tilted her head in confusion—as if three big question marks had just popped up above her head.

...

"Wow! This is incredible!"

Amidst the vast, dark sea, a colossal dragon—hundreds of meters long—cut swiftly through the waves.

Its massive head rose above the surface, steady and proud. Standing atop it were two figures: Leon and Elina.

With strong winds rushing in from every direction and the endless sea stretching out before her, Elina couldn’t stop smiling. She cheered with excitement, eyes gleaming.

"Young Master, you really are a genius! With this dragon’s help, we can reach the edge of the continent so much faster!"

She turned to Leon, standing beside her, and looked at him with eyes full of admiration.

Leon chuckled softly, a faint, proud smile tugging at his lips.

Folding his arms across his chest, he looked out toward the horizon and replied, "You don’t need to flatter me like that, Elina. But you’re right—with this dragon, our journey will be much faster."

The sea breeze swept across his face, making his black hair whip in the wind.

Under the overcast sky, his figure looked even more striking—more handsome than usual.

At first, he had planned to slay the dragon. But then he realized something: there was no true enmity between them.

Moreover, according to the man they’d met at the inn’s restaurant yesterday, the Sea Dragon Emperor had never harmed anyone.

It had only destroyed a ship once—and even then, it was because the vessel had provoked it first.

So rather than kill it without cause, Leon chose to tame the creature and use it as a mount to carry both him and Elina toward their destination across the sea.

As the two enjoyed their ride atop the dragon, a large ship appeared roughly two kilometers away from their location.

The crew, who had been relaxing moments earlier, suddenly widened their eyes in shock at the sight of a massive figure in the distance.

"Look! A dragon monster! And... that’s not just any dragon—it’s the Sea Dragon Emperor!" One of them shouted in panic.

The alarmed cry instantly put the rest of the crew on high alert.

They all turned toward the direction he pointed—and sure enough, a colossal dragon had emerged above the sea’s surface.

Fortunately, the dragon was still quite far away, so the crew didn’t feel the need to panic just yet.

But then, one of them suddenly pointed, eyes narrowing.

"Wait... Look at its head!"

Everyone turned their gaze toward the dragon. And sure enough—there were two figures standing on top of it.

At first, they appeared only as faint shadows in the cloudy light. But gradually, the outlines sharpened—revealing a man and a woman.

The crew stared in stunned silence. Their eyes widened, and a mix of disbelief and fear spread across their faces.

"Th-They’re human!"
