My Magical Girl System-Chapter 19: LOVE’S APOCALYPSE!
Marcus’s voice cut through the chaos, sharp and urgent. "Listen up, Gold-7! We’re getting reports—massive spike in monster activity. Multiple D-rank to A-rank signatures heading our way. If the situation gets too hot, you evacuate. No hesitation, no looking back. Got it?"
Lisa nodded, gripping her wand tightly. "Got it."
The ground trembled. In the distance, shadows surged—a flood of monsters pouring from the gate’s mouth like an endless tide. Their ranks varied: small D-rank imps scurrying ahead, C-rank brutes lumbering behind them, and here and there, the unmistakable aura of B-rank beasts. And deeper within, something worse stirred.
Sarah’s eyes went wide. "Wait—isn’t this supposed to be a C-rank gate?! Why are there B-rank monsters pouring out? And that aura in the back... that feels like S-rank!"
Marcus gritted his teeth, axe ready. "Anomalies have been happening more frequently lately. But we’re not stupid—we anticipated this." He tapped his earpiece. "The Association placed teleport beacons in designated safe zones. If things go sideways, you run to those and get out."
Before anyone could respond, Marcus’s comm unit crackled with desperate voices.
"Green team needs immediate assistance! We’re overwhelmed—multiple casualties! Someone help!"
Another channel cut in, panicked. "Blue team is collapsing! The monsters keep coming—there’s too many! Evacuate! Everyone evacuate!"
Then another, and another—each transmission more frantic than the last. The perimeter was crumbling.
Marcus’s face hardened. "Gold team, defensive positions! Protect the evacuation route—"
A B-rank beast, massive and scaled, slammed into their line. Its claws swept through two heroes beside Marcus, sending them flying. Marcus roared, swinging his axe in a brutal arc, carving into the creature’s hide—but three more emerged from the chaos behind it.
He fought fiercely, axe biting deep, but the numbers were overwhelming. A tail caught him in the chest, sending him crashing into a crate. He struggled to rise, blood at his lips.
"Go!" he shouted at them. "Evacuate now! I’ll hold them—"
Another beast lunged. Marcus blocked, but a second struck from the side, sending him sprawling. He wasn’t getting up.
Sarah’s heart pounded. "Andrey! What do we do?!"
Andrey’s mind raced, but his voice stayed calm—the same tone he used when a spreadsheet crashed minutes before a deadline. "Sarah, can you still use your AoE skills?"
She blinked, then nodded. "Yeah... yeah, I think so!"
"Lisa, your barriers?"
Lisa, trembling but determined, nodded quickly. "I can! Reinforced Barrier is ready!"
Andrey’s eyes scanned the battlefield, tactical mind clicking into place. "Good. Here’s the plan—I’ll draw the monsters’ attention, gather as many as I can into one spot. Lisa, you trap them with your barrier. Sarah, when they’re contained, you finish them with your strongest AoE."
Sarah stared at him. "That’s insane! You’ll get killed!"
Andrey was already moving. "We don’t have much time."
He sprinted toward the densest cluster of monsters, baton extended. His Absorb Damage skill glowed faintly as he activated it, ready to take hits and store energy. Behind him, Lisa raised her wand, mint-green light gathering.
"Come on, you oversized lizards!" Andrey shouted, smacking a B-rank beast with his baton. It turned, roaring, and lunged. He dodged, but another claw caught him—he absorbed the hit, chest glowing. He kept moving, weaving between them, gathering their attention like a shepherd herding wolves.
Three, then five, then eight monsters converged on him, claws slashing. Each hit added to his stored energy, his body straining under the load.
"Now, Lisa!" he yelled.
Lisa’s wand blazed. "Reinforced Barrier—encircle!" A massive mint-green dome snapped into place around Andrey and the monsters, trapping them together. The beasts roared, clawing at the barrier, but it held.
Sarah raised her wand high, pink light flaring brighter than ever. Her dress billowed, twintails whipping in the mana storm. "Heartstorm... TEMPEST!"
A hurricane of pink hearts erupted from her wand, tearing through the contained monsters with devastating force. The B-rank beasts howled, their hides shredded by the concentrated barrage. One by one, they dissolved into mana particles.
The barrier flickered and dropped. Andrey stood in the center, panting, his clothes shredded but alive. The stored energy in his chest released harmlessly into the air.

Sarah ran to Andrey, grabbing his arm. "You idiot! That was insane!"
He managed a weak smile. "Efficient, though."
Lisa joined them, still shaking. "We did it... we actually did it!"
Andrey looked around, ignoring the blood trickling from a cut on his forehead. His eyes swept the battlefield, tracking the endless tide of monsters still pouring from the gate. "Don’t celebrate yet. There’s still too many."
Before anyone could respond, a desperate scream tore through the chaos from their left.
"HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!"
They turned. It was the blonde hero from earlier—the one who’d mocked them. His expensive armor was cracked and bloodied, his B-rank insignia barely visible beneath the gore. He stumbled backward, trying to fend off three C-rank beasts with a broken sword. Behind him, the brown-haired man with the tower shield was sprinting away, not even glancing back.
The blonde saw it too. His face contorted with rage and despair. "YOU COWARD! TRAITOR! YOU LEFT ME!"
Andrey didn’t hesitate. "Sarah, prepare your strongest attack. Lisa, shield incoming!"
He sprinted toward the blonde, baton extending mid-run. The beasts had the man cornered, claws raised for the killing blow.
Andrey’s baton caught the first claw, deflecting it. He spun, kicking a second beast back, then shouted at the blonde without looking. "Run! Now!"
The blonde just stared, tears streaming down his face, legs trembling. "I can’t... I can’t move... my legs won’t—"
"Tch." Andrey gritted his teeth, parrying another strike. The beasts were fast—too fast. He couldn’t hold them off and protect the useless hero at the same time.
He made a split-second decision. Dodging left, he drew the monsters away from the blonde, leading them toward an open area. Two followed. Three. Then a fourth emerged from the chaos behind him.
Claws slammed into his back.
Andrey flew forward, skidding across the ground, his Absorb Damage skill flaring as it stored the impact. He gasped, vision swimming, but forced himself up.
"Andrey!" Sarah’s scream cut through the noise. Lisa’s face was pale with terror.
He turned—too slow. Another beast was already upon him, claw descending. He tried to dodge, but it was too fast.
’Fast.’
The claw caught him across the chest, sending him tumbling. He rolled, coughing, struggling to rise. His stored energy was nearly maxed—one more hit and he’d overload.
He looked up. Three beasts circled him now, their B-rank auras pressing down like physical weight. Their movements were blurringly fast, their strikes efficient and brutal.
Andrey’s mind raced despite the pain. ’This is B-rank... they’re faster, stronger. I can’t keep up. Damage Absorb is at its limit. I need to be faster.’
He saw Sarah and Lisa in his peripheral vision, their faces desperate. He saw the blonde hero still frozen, useless. He saw more monsters gathering, drawn by the fight.
’I can’t dodge. I can’t block forever. But I don’t have to.’
He met Sarah’s eyes. "NOW!"
Lisa’s wand blazed, tears streaming down her face. "Prismatic Fortress—on Andrey!" A multi-layered barrier snapped into place around him, shimmering with mint and gold.
Sarah raised her wand high. Pink light erupted from her like a supernova, her dress blazing, her hair floating as if in zero gravity. The air itself trembled.
"LOVE’S... APOCALYPSE!"
The world turned pink.
A column of pure heart-shaped energy slammed down from the sky, engulfing Andrey, the barriers, and every monster within a fifty-meter radius. The B-rank beasts howled as their bodies disintegrated, flesh and bone dissolving into mana particles. The ground cracked. The gate’s purple light flickered.
When the light faded, Andrey stood in the center of a crater, Lisa’s barriers cracked but intact, his body smoking but alive. Around him, nothing remained but dissipating mana and the echoes of dying roars.

"Go," Andrey said hoarsely. "Evacuate. Now."
The blonde nodded shakily, then limped away without a word.
Andrey turned back to his team. "We need to move. That blast will draw more."
