Chapter 147: Chapter 147 medical emergency

George took a sip of his wine. "In our Simbara culture, we like to do business with acquaintances. There’s a saying, ’Don’t do business with strangers.’ You are friends with the Michaelson Family, and that’s your advantage, something Charles and I don’t have. This is your leverage. And we want to use your leverage. The Michaelson Family are all savvy business people, so they will naturally understand that if you invite them out. If we were just ordinary people, it’s called climbing the social ladder. But if we are influential individuals, it’s called an equal exchange."

"So, we can also become your leverage."

It suddenly dawned on me.

My relationship with the Michaelson Family was my advantage, so they wanted to leverage that.

Whether it was George or Charles, they were both big shots in the Sevan wine industry, not because of how much money they had but because of their status in the industry. So, in turn, they became my leverage. If Frank saw me making friends with George and Charles, he would only think highly of me, seeing my abilities and wide connections, and he would take me more seriously than before.

I quickly raised my glass. "I’ve understood completely. George, I’d like to toast to you."

If he hadn’t treated me as his friend, he wouldn’t confide in me like this. Any previous discomfort in my heart suddenly dissipated.

George clinked glasses with me. "We’re like brothers, no need for formalities. But William, although my business isn’t that big, I’ve seen a lot of people in my travels, and my experience is quite rich. If you ever have doubts in the future, feel free to turn to me."

I was touched. "Thank you, George!"

"Oh, does your company need a grand opening ceremony? I’ll send you a flower basket then!"

"I don’t have that plan for now."

I said. "It just started out, and the business hasn’t kicked off yet. After some time, when the company is on track, I’ll invite you to come and visit."

"Alright."

George nodded. "In the future, I’ll entrust my business to you."

What else could I say? I could only rely on his support.

We played until midnight, and George took two girls to the hotel next. I wanted to have some fun, but I was already exhausted by Lily Monroe. I better save my energy.

I had to keep my energy when I was still young. Otherwise, I would be incapable of having sex when I aged.

Moreover, those girls might not be clean.

They might all have sexually transmitted diseases. I didn’t want to be ruined by them.

Back home, after taking a shower and getting ready for bed, a Facebook call popped up unexpectedly. It was Tatiana calling.

My heart skipped a beat. Why was she calling me in the middle of the night?

Was she going to ask me to pick her up again?

Should I answer or pretend to be asleep and ignore it?

I was conflicted.

But she was my superior after all, so I decided to answer the call.

As soon as I picked up the phone, I heard Tatiana’s exclamation. Hearing her voice, I was dumbfounded.

Was she playing games with Steven and accidentally dialed my number?

But that didn’t seem likely.

"William, are you available to come over now? I have a terrible stomachache. Can you take me to the hospital..."

What?

I immediately got out of bed. Upon listening carefully, I found her voice sounded strained, as if she was in great pain.

"Ms. Camille, don’t worry. I’ll come right away."

Without even changing my clothes, I rushed out in my boxers and tank top.

Fifteen minutes later, the car stopped at Bay No.1, and I hurried to her building downstairs.

She was in Building 6, Apartment 1803. I knocked on the door urgently, saying, "Ms. Camille, it’s me, William. Please open the door."

I knocked for a minute, but there was no response.

I thought, ’could she have passed out?’

I looked at the sturdy security door, which wasn’t easy to break through. I thought about it and decided to call 911.

Just as I was about to make the call, the door opened from the inside, revealing a pale-faced woman in a black silk nightgown.

It was Tatiana.

She held her stomach with one hand, and with the other hand holding the keys. She leaned against the door, sweat beading on her forehead, her lips turning pale.

These were symptoms of a medical emergency.

"Ms. Camille, I’ll help you downstairs." As soon as I said that, Tatiana leaned forward and collapsed into my arms.

Instinctively, I held her, and unfortunately, my hand landed on her chest. I think I might remember that moment of touch for a lifetime.

But I cared more about Tatiana, as she was in so much pain that she couldn’t keep her balance.

I picked her up directly, closed the door, and rushed to the elevator at the highest speed. "Ms. Camille, hold on. We’ll be at the hospital soon."

The woman’s faint body scent filled my nostrils, but at this moment I felt more anxious than romantic.

I didn’t know what was wrong with her, but if something really happened, I would be in big trouble.

Steven wouldn’t let me off the hook, but Linda would probably be very pleased.

Being placed in the passenger seat and reclined onto it, Tatiana furrowed her brows, faintly humming.

I said, "Ms. Camille, if you’re in too much pain, it might help a bit if you scream out."

After fastening her seatbelt, I quickly drove to the People’s Hospital.

"Doctor! Where’s the doctor? Hurry and save her!"

I rushed into the hospital with Tatiana in my arms, and soon enough, the duty nurse came out with a stretcher. "Quickly, put her on here." The doctor also came out. "What’s going on?"

"Doctor, she has a stomachache."

"A stomachache?"

The doctor frowned and looked at Tatiana and then at me. "Is she pregnant?"

What?

What did that have to do with being pregnant?

"What do you mean? It’s your wife. Don’t you know if she’s pregnant?" The doctor glared at me.

My wife?

"No, no. Doctor, I’m not pregnant," Tatiana weakly spoke.

The doctor furrowed his brow. "Come on! Inform the ultrasound room, and do an ultrasound. Go register!"
