Chapter 41: 41. An apprentice

"Sexdusa... ACTIVATE!"

I grinned to myself. If she didn’t want to let me smash willingly, then I had no choice but to resort to my skill.

But...

"A taste of what? Don’t get cocky on me, boy." Rose said, standing up.

I ignored her words, thinking she was now under my control, and confidently approached her, slipping an arm around her waist and pulling her close.

SMACK!

A thunderous slap rang across my face.

"What do you think you’re doing, human?"

"I—uhm." I stammered, blinking in confusion.

Why wasn’t my skill working!

[Warning: The Sexdusa skill won’t work on Rose.]

[Reason: She’s too strong. To make it work, you need to level up the skill.]

I groaned. "The heck! You didn’t tell me skills had levels!"

[Duh.]

"Can’t I just level it up with points?"

[Nope. Only way to level up a skill is by using it repeatedly.]

Oh, come on. So no smashing Rose. What a disappointment to the men of culture.

"Uh... I’m really sorry. I don’t know what got into me," I lied, backing away. Then, without another word, I jumped out the window—because the door was blocked by a pile of dead rabbit bodies.

Rose just shrugged. Moments later, the mouthwatering aroma of roasted rabbit filled the air.

She called me to eat, and I was shocked to find every single rabbit in the house gone.

"Where are all the rabbits?"

She pointed at a swirling dark portal near her. "In there."

I watched as she tossed the last rabbit inside. "I’m feeding them to Rex’s parents. Wanna see them?"

"Oh, hell NO! Rex is already a freak of nature. To think it has parents... Just how big are they?"

"Taller than you."

"What?! That’s like the size of a cow. A hound that big? Nope. I don’t wanna see it."

Rose chuckled, then got serious. "I’ve been thinking for a while: You’re ready. But your final training will be at a nearby demon village. Defeat them, and maybe you’ll be ready to face the Demon Lord. And always remember— the strong rule the weak."

That’s like the only thing Rose had been teaching me ever since l came here— The strong rule the weak.

"Alright! Bring it on."

She handed me a bowl of food—mostly meat. Tough, but delicious. I ate my fill.

Not long after, Rose led me to the demon village. Strangely, I wasn’t as shocked as I should’ve been. Hulking hounds roamed freely, demon children played with them, and their parents went about their daily lives.

Then, something caught my eye—an arena.

Inside, demons clashed in brutal fights. Some were as massive as the Demon Lord himself, wielding terrifying weapons. A shiver ran down my spine. The air here was thick with demonic miasma, so I activated a wind barrier around myself. Even then, it was intoxicating.

"Come on, let’s go. Don’t tell me you’re scared?" Rose purred, nudging me forward.

"I’m not scared," I said quickly.

Total lie. I was kinda scared.

Walking behind Rose, I noticed other demons bowing slightly to her—while glaring at me murderously.

The sky here was purple, warped by the dense miasma. Some houses were built from massive bones. A few demon girls actually looked... kinda hot.

When we reached the arena, Rose stepped inside. The crowd erupted in cheers.

"Queen Rose!"

"We love you!"

Wait..... Queen?

Rose raised a hand, silencing them. "Listen, my dear brethren. I’ve brought someone with me. Someone who will help us reclaim what is rightfully ours!"

She pointed at me. The once-thrilled crowd fell into hushed murmurs.

"What? A human?"

"Has the Queen lost her mind?"

"She’s entrusting our future to him?"

I couldn’t quite make out all their words, but I caught "entrusting our future to him"—which did not sound promising.

Rose stepped to the center of the red-soiled arena.

"I know what you’re thinking, brothers and sisters," she declared. "That a mere human isn’t strong enough to back us up. That he’s weak. But let me tell you—this boy is no ordinary human. He’s special."

The murmurs grew louder with doubt.

"To prove it, who wants to duel him?" Rose challenged.

Some demons scoffed.

"Why bother?"

"He’s just trash."

Then, a towering demon stepped forward. He carried a massive sword, had ripped muscles, and annoyingly perfect blonde hair. His smirk was downright punchable.

"Madam Rose, I respect you, but I’ll beat this human brat to a pulp and feed his corpse to my hounds. Human meat is their favorite, after all." He grinned, flashing sharp yellow teeth.

He was twice my height and six times my build.

Rose smacked my shoulder playfully, leaning close to my ear. "Prove me right, human. Don’t disappoint me... Maybe I’ll let you touch me. Just a little."

She winked seductively and walked away.

My MILF senses tingled.

And my rod of judgment twitched.

I was motivated.

The demon charged at me, swinging his massive sword.

I dodged effortlessly, gripping a small scalpel in my hand.

With a single, precise throw, l aimed for his leg.

SLASH!

Blood sprayed as his leg rolled away.

The demon collapsed, screaming in agony as the crowd gasped.

Rose smirked proudly. "Told ya. Never underestimate my apprentice." She shot me a commanding gaze. "Call me master from now on, human. You got that?"

I chuckled dryly—then froze when a demon girl—short, but with an intimidating aura—suddenly descended into the arena, landing with a soft thud.

"I’ll teach your apprentice a lesson, then... mother."

My eyes widened. "Mother?!"

Despite her small body, her voice was chillingly condescending.

But that was the least of my worries.

The aura radiating from her was overwhelming—dark, oppressive, and sinister for a little demon.

The crowd erupted in wild cheers.

And then, from the sidelines, Rose shouted—

"Brace yourself, human! Evelyn isn’t just any demon—she’s my daughter. And she’s as strong as I am, if not stronger."

A single sweat drop slid down my face.

I didn’t know if l was shocked by the fact that l was up against Rose’s daughter, or l was terrified by her chilling aura.

Just then, Evelyn suddenly vanished.

Before I could react, she was already behind me, her palm pressed against my back.

I felt a massive surge of sinister magic gathering.

And then—

"Now, die, human."
