My Scheming Little Devil-Chapter 922: Restless Spirits
He just wanted to protect his beloved family properly.
Awkwardly putting on that garment, his face wore a trace of unease, yet his steps were undoubtedly firm as he followed Third Young Master Jun across the beach.
He stood ten meters away from Third Young Master Jun, his young face slightly pale, vaguely guessing what Third Young Master Jun’s test might be, not without fear in his heart.
"Let’s start!" the childish voice declared resolutely.
Not allowing himself any chance for regret.
"You still have one chance to choose to leave," Third Young Master Jun said with a complex gaze, filled with mixed emotions. Some people are forced into such paths out of desperation, but his child, who could choose, why did he insist on choosing this bloody road?
Such a road is too lonely.
"I won’t leave," Ye Yuan shouted suddenly, his eyes burning with passion, "I want to become a strong man like you."
Third Young Master Jun was shaken. He had not expected this from the child who usually seemed indifferent towards him, carrying an attitude of disdain.
Yet in his heart, he also held him as an idol to surpass.
"Foolish child," he muttered softly, his mood growing even more complex. Perhaps he wasn’t stronger than this child; it was just seeing his own child possessing such persistent courage, what was there for him to fear then?
Strong because of love, and on a bloody path, there’s no turning back.
"Alright," he fitted the silencer on the gun and raised it coldly towards Ye Yuan, his eyes suffused with a faint bloody haze, "You cannot hide, nor can you close your eyes!"
Ye Yuan looked at the dark muzzle of the gun, his heart pounding intensely.
"I definitely won’t hide," his voice trembling faintly.
"Good, then look into my eyes, keep looking. I will personally teach you a truth, from now on you will hold other people’s lives in your hands, but you must learn even more to control your own life!"
With a bang, not particularly loud but enough to startle the soul, one might have mistaken it for a stone hitting glass if they weren’t listening carefully.
In fact, it was a bullet flying towards the child on the beach at hundreds of meters per second. It would have terrified any onlookers had there been any, but this was a private beach, desolate and empty.
The ruthless bullet struck the child’s chest, the huge impact sending his small body flying backward, flinging him violently onto the sand.
Lying motionless on the ground.
Third Young Master Jun’s heart clenched, his complexion turned pale as he rushed over and quickly lifted him from the ground.
The child was breathing rapidly, his chest heaving dramatically, a layer of cold sweat on his forehead, his body still trembling, his small face as pale as a ghost.
"I’m sorry, I must be insane to have taken a child’s challenge seriously," Third Young Master Jun lamented, holding Ye Yuan’s trembling small body tightly, soothing his fearful heart.
How could he take the rash words of a child seriously?
He was far from being responsible as a father. Not everyone can withstand such psychological extremes; he had frightened the child.
"Yuanyuan, don’t be afraid; this is just a nightmare. See, you’re fine now," he said as he kissed his son’s forehead, holding him tightly, providing a strong sense of security.
Ye Yuan, gasping for breath, slowly turned his head after a while, looked down at his chest, pulled open the bulletproof vest and found a bullet caught in it.
With trembling fingers, he plucked it out, the bullet falling onto his small, pale hand, still emitting the scent of gunpowder.
He looked up at Third Young Master Jun, his lips pale but his eyes blazing with courage: "I’ve passed the test, do you keep your word?"
Third Young Master Jun couldn’t help but chuckle, his rough palm wiping away the cold sweat on his forehead, his sigh full of admiration.
"You really are a fearless little wolf cub, my proud little man! Alright, a man’s promise, of course, it counts."
