My Seven Wives in One Body and Me, her Manager-Chapter 64: Challenge from Rival School and Restraint
After school, Dennis walked with Daisy toward the dorm apartments next to the school complex, silent and deep in thought. Daisy noticed the serious look on Dennis’s face beside her.
"What’s up, honey? You look so serious," Daisy asked curiously.
"It’s nothing, I just heard about our rival school from the seniors," Dennis answered.
"Oh, that. I already knew about that; while you guys were talking in the cafeteria, Sami streamed it to me," Daisy replied casually.
"Huh... really?" Dennis asked, startled.
"Yep, I’ve been asking Sami to keep an eye on you since yesterday, hehe," Daisy answered while linking her arm with Dennis’s.
Dennis couldn’t say anything else. He just stared at Daisy, who looked completely relaxed and acted like it was no big deal, even though she had just dropped something creepy on him. He was shocked to hear that Daisy was actually spying on him using Sami, even though she’d only known about Sami for two days. Of course, this would all keep happening if he didn’t put a stop to it, so he finally decided to ask Sami.
"Sami, did my wife ask you to spy on my activities?" Dennis asked in his head.
[....]
"Hey Sami, answer me. Why the silence?" Dennis asked again in his head.
[Yes, Master. Forgive me, I could not refuse their request.]
"Their?" Dennis asked once more, even though he already knew who Sami meant.
[All of your wife’s personalities... they asked me... and of course, I couldn’t refuse them. Their reason is so that you don’t have any secrets hidden from them.]
Hearing Sami’s voice sounding hesitant and even a bit scared, even though she was a system, it was clear that Sami was being threatened by the six personalities of Daisy inside her head. It turned out Daisy was afraid that Dennis was keeping secrets from her and wasn’t being honest with her. In the end, Dennis could only let out a sigh.
"Haaah... whatever. I’ll talk to Daisy later. For now, just go along with what they want," Dennis said in his head.
Dennis turned back to look at Daisy, who was walking while clinging to his arm, looking cheerful and humming a little tune.
"Honey, don’t you trust me?" Dennis asked suddenly.
Daisy immediately whipped her head toward Dennis so fast her glasses went crooked, and she quickly straightened them. Her eyes locked onto Dennis’s as he looked over at her.
"Why would you ask that, honey? Of course I trust you," Daisy asked.
"Hmm... is that so? Then why did you tell Sami to report on my activities whenever I’m not with you?" Dennis asked, cutting straight to the point.
Daisy went silent instantly. She turned to look straight ahead while adjusting her glasses, but Dennis knew his wife was getting nervous because her hand holding his arm started to sweat.
"I... I just wanted to know. I was afraid you wouldn’t be open with me like before," Daisy said in a soft voice.
"Alright, it’s okay, I understand. But please trust me. I already promised I’d tell you everything, right? You’re the one who said you’re my emotional support," Dennis said.
"Yeah... sorry. I won’t eavesdrop through Sami anymore," Daisy said, looking down.
"Forget it, I’m not making a big deal out of it. I guess that means you know about gym class earlier, then," Dennis muttered, trying to break the tension.
"Yeah, I know. I watched the stream in class—everyone did. You’re really strong; I’m proud of you. Tomorrow is my turn for gym, you’re more than welcome to watch," Daisy said, smiling again as she looked at Dennis.
"So, if I want to know what you’re up to, that’s allowed too?" Dennis asked, curious.
"Of course it is. I want us to be open with each other and have no secrets, right? That goes for me too, and you can keep an eye on me as well," Daisy answered.
Dennis studied his wife’s face as she looked at him. Daisy seemed sincere and truly honest about what she had just said; it was clear that this was also the wish of her and the six others inside her. Dennis smiled and nodded.
"Alright, I get it. I’ll look forward to seeing you during gym," Dennis said.
"Yey... I’m so happy. Thank you, honey," Daisy replied, hugging Dennis’s arm tight.
"You’re welcome, honey," Dennis replied, holding Daisy’s hand as she hugged his arm.
They resumed their walk, calm and relaxed, but when they reached the front gate of their dorm apartments, they saw six guys with buzz cuts and fierce, thug-like faces. They were wearing different school uniforms in a messy fashion and walking through the dorm gate with a careless attitude. As they passed Dennis and Daisy, Dennis caught a glimpse of the school emblem on their uniforms that read "Red Wind." What made his blood boil was how all six male students leered at Daisy as she passed right next to them.
Dennis immediately pulled Daisy to his other side to switch places with her as they crossed paths, but suddenly—
"Hey... wait." 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
A young man’s voice called out to Dennis and Daisy. Dennis turned around and pulled Daisy to stand behind him. One of the six men turned back and stepped forward; he had a blonde buzz cut, wore an earring, and a tattoo was visible on his neck from beneath his uniform. The young man stared at Dennis, then glanced at Daisy, then looked Dennis up and down before looking back up at his face—he had to look up because he was shorter than Dennis and only slightly taller than Daisy—but his face was intimidating and arrogant.
"You’re an Emerald Military Academy kid, right? I’ve seen you before. What’s your name?" the young man asked smugly.
"Dennis. Yeah, I’m from Emerald Military Academy. Why?" Dennis asked firmly.
"Hmm... I’m Sean, from Red Wind. My friends and I are heading to your school to meet your teacher. I’ve seen you and your girl before... hmm... where was it?" the young man named Sean asked in front of Dennis, rubbing his chin while observing both Dennis and Daisy.
The five other young men began to close in on Sean and stood behind him, looking cocky with their hands shoved into their pockets, which hung a bit lower than they should. Seeing himself surrounded, Dennis took a step forward and stood directly in front of Sean, looking down at him since Sean was shorter than he was.
"What do you want?" Dennis asked.
"Hmm... I remember now. You two are the new core team, right? I watched the footage at the train tracks when you closed the dimensional rift above the rails," Sean answered, pointing at Dennis’s face with a smirk.
"And? What’s the problem?" Dennis asked, swatting Sean’s finger away.
Sean went back to eyeing Daisy, then he turned to look at his friends behind him, who were also staring at Daisy and seemed to be discussing something with him. Then Sean looked back at Dennis with a cocky smile on his face, looking down on him.
"I want to fight you. I saw you and your blonde friend were strong enough to take on a Blob Mantis with just the two of you. How about I challenge you and your team? If you lose, your girls belong to me and my friends, because from the footage I watched, the three girls with you—including your girl right here—are all beauties, hehe," Sean said, issued a boastful challenge.
Dennis went silent, his jaw tightening and his face turning red with rage as he clenched both fists so hard his knuckles turned white. But suddenly, he felt a cold chill run through his body. He immediately turned to look at Daisy and was shocked to see her smiling, taking off her glasses, her pupils turning into a mix of yellow, red, purple, blue, white, brown and black.
Although it wasn’t visible to the naked eye, Dennis could feel the wrath and murderous intent of the six personalities inside Daisy’s body, plus the primary Daisy who was also releasing her anger—as if every Daisy had united with the same goal.
Dennis’s high blood pressure, which had previously peaked right to the top of his head, suddenly plummeted until it was gone because he was more afraid of Daisy losing control and doing something clearly unwanted—something that would surely lead to regret later on.
"This is bad; if they go on a rampage, there’s definitely going to be a tragedy here," Dennis muttered in his head.
Without a second thought, Dennis grabbed Daisy’s arm and led her into the dorm apartment building. Sean, seeing Dennis retreat, immediately started mocking him, calling out after him while smirking along with his friends. Dennis tried his best to ignore their provocations and kept pulling Daisy until they finally entered their tower lobby. Once they stepped into the elevator to head up to their unit,
"Huff... so that’s what the Red Wind kids are like. Damn it, I’m pissed... but I’m more afraid of letting the beast beside me loose, she and the other was ready to snap at any second," Dennis muttered in his head while leaning against the elevator wall, glancing at Daisy beside him, who seemed a bit calmer now as she held his arm.
