Chapter 11: Drama on a train (8)

"Ok.. I got this."

Annie prepared her feet, and with only inches away from getting beheaded by the machete, she jumped—

High up in the sky, Hanjon stared at the girl in the air.

"TAKE THIS!"

Seismic Stomp — Lv. 1

Her leg glowed cyan, and with all her strength, she landed on Hanjon.

The huge crash sent the whole train shaking and created a huge echo throughout the forest.

Annie’s legs bled from all the loose metal that penetrated through her skin.

Dust all over her face, she pinched her nose, coughing, trying to see if she hit Hanjon.

"AMAZING!"

Annie’s eyes widened, hearing the familiar voice.

Then she felt a huge wind blowing all the dust away, revealing Hanjon using his tentacle as a fan.

He clapped at Annie and saw the huge dent on the rooftop.

"You’re truly amazing, Annie!"

Annie scoffed.

"Don’t say my name so casually like that!"

She sprinted towards him and prepared her fist to strike, but before she could reach him,

the salamander leaped in towards her, making her stop out of shock.

The salamander then used its long body to wrap itself around Annie’s whole body, locking her tight.

Annie fell to the ground, making a grunting noise.

"What an ungentlemanly move from that kid, letting a girl fight an adult man." He swayed his hair, smirking at Annie.

"You’re one to talk, being attracted towards a teenage girl while being what? In your 30s?"

She let out a sharp "pfft," while smiling back at Hanjon.

"I’LL rip that filthy mouth of yours!" Hanjon raised his machete tentacle and swung it towards Annie.

Using all her strength, Annie got up while being tied up and jumped, avoiding the machete.

She did an air kick with both of her legs.

Seismic Stomp — Lv. 1

The pressure sent a strong wind towards Hanjon and knocked him far away.

Using this chance, Annie wiggled her body while trying to get out of the salamander’s restraint.

"Frssk?"

"UGH, it’s not working! I’ll need to do something!"

Annie noticed that the salamander’s head was behind her, so a brilliant idea came up.

[ Skill activated ]

Seismic Stomp — Lv. 1

She jumped high up again, but instead of landing on her feet, she lay down, making sure her back would take the impact of the damage.

"FRSSSKK!!"

Before the salamander could react, Annie crashed onto the train again hard, creating a huger dent than before.

She felt the grip loosen, and she got up.

Annie saw the poor salamander squished on the ground, while its tail separated from its body.

"... I’m so sorry, but your owner is a real asshole."

She saw the spirit animal fade and slowly turn into a purple glow that traveled behind Annie and went back towards the inside of Hanjon’s chest.

Hanjon’s face went pale, seeing his spirit animal faint. He dropped to the ground on his knees, crying his eyes out.

"NOO..no—NOO..... WHY WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!" He screamed towards her.

Instead of feeling bad, she slowly walked towards Hanjon, her face ice cold.

After they were only one foot apart, she stood in front of him, staring down at her predator.

With sheer hatred, she slammed his thigh with her leg.

"AAAAAAAAA!" Hanjon let out a blood-curdling scream.

She dug deep inside his thigh as blood dripped towards her shoes and on the ground.

"How does it feel?" She stared down at him.

"Having your body part violated?"

She continued to dig deeper and deeper into him; Hanjon could only scream in agony and cry out.

"You LOST. After pulling that stupid move with your spirit animal, it shows you never went to spirit combat school."

Annie saw from the far distance the station where the train next stop is.

She looked back at him.

"Listen here. Amanda told me that all of the train staff here has been bribed by the Nightroot Clan. The Jeffersons will check every status and information on whoever is on this train."

Annie forcefully grabbed Hanjon’s hair and pulled his face in front of hers.

"Oh yeah.. one last thing. Don’t ever touch any girls ever in your life, got that?"

Hanjon didn’t reply; he just rolled his eyes.

This pissed Annie off.

"I said... YOU GOT THAT?"

Annie slammed Hanjon’s face with her elbow, making his nose bleed.

He forcefully tried to say something with his broken nose and bloody mouth.

"Yes...sss.. I won’t ever... Please spare me..."

Annie smirked and dropped his head. She also pulled her leg out of his thigh.

She rubbed her forehead, which was full of sweat.

"Phew.. That was a long ride... I wonder how Jaster is doing."

---

Meanwhile, inside the train.

Amanda blinked a couple of times.

And then immediately shrieked from the sharp pain inside her head.

After her vision cleared, in front of her, she saw Jaster sitting, legs crossed, smiling at her.

"Hello, Amanda."

Amanda tried to get up, but she realized that her whole body was tied up with a rope to one of the seats.

"Ugh.. I knew you were bad news the moment you took those cringe moves." Amanda argued.

Jaster was still smirking at her, but deep down, he was also cringing at himself.

"WHATEVER. Don’t you dare change the subject; I’m here to ask you a question."

The main reason Jaster asked for Annie to fight Hanjon was not because he couldn’t defeat him,

but it was so he could talk with Amanda alone.

"Sooo. Do you know this Joker guy?"

Amanda tilted her head.

"Joker? Who’s that?.... Now that I think about it, Hanjon was really mad when you mentioned that name."

Jaster was shocked at Amanda’s response.

So she doesn’t know who Joker is. And seeing Hanjon’s response, Joker seems to be a name only a couple of people from the Nightroot Clan know.

He rubbed his temple; there were so many things going on in his head.

I can’t think about this right now. The Jefferson quest hasn’t even started yet. I need to focus on the special bond exam later.

"Uhm."

Amanda tapped her feet, trying to get Jaster’s attention.

"What?"

"So.. what’s gonna happen to me?"

He scoffed at Amanda’s cluelessness.

"You’re going to jail, simple as that."

Jaster got up and walked away from her.

"HEY, what do you mean by that?"

"Girl, be for real. After the crime you committed, you think you’ll be free?"

"Krrk krrk."

Jaster and Amanda saw the far station outside from the window.

"Well, that’s my cue." He whistled while walking towards his booth.

"HEY. GET OVER HERE... PLEASE DON’T ARREST ME. I CAN EXPLAIN MYSELF.... PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!"

Jaster blocked out Amanda’s screams with his whistle as he closed the door and headed to his booth to pick up his belongings.

---

"Attention, please. The express train bound for Silver City is now arriving on Platform Three. Please stand behind the yellow line and allow passengers to exit first."

A loudspeaker of a woman’s voice echoed throughout the station.

And so did the boots of the cops and SWAT rushing towards the incoming train.

"Everyone, go to your formation."

A man in a SWAT uniform commanded his comrades.

They all formed a straight line in front of the train door.

"Perimeter’s set. Nobody moves!"

It was silent for a while. The only thing that could be heard was the whispers of the civilians wondering what happened.

Then the train door opened.

The commander raised his fist.

"All units, hold position. Stack tight. Weapons up."

The door opened, and it revealed a—

"krrk!"

Purple was startled, seeing all the scary-looking men, and it immediately camouflaged as Jaster’s hair.

"Uhhhh." He rubbed his cheek, embarrassed.

All the police looked confused but still tried to remain unfazed.

"What’s up guys—"

"We have an injured civilian here. Call the paramedic!" The commander shouted and raised his hands.

An old man with a doctor’s uniform came running and gently held Jaster back.

"Are you ok, kid?"

"Yeah, I’m ok...."

Seriously? Isn’t this too much?

The paramedic helped Jaster get out of the station as he brought him to the ambulance.

The paramedic also gave Jaster and Purple a snack to munch on while they wait.

CRUNCH

Jaster ate the chocolate bar that the paramedic gave him.

"Hmm. Didn’t know game food would taste so good!"

He looked at his shoulder where Purple was eating a small grape that was the same size as its head.

"Krrk krrk!" Purple nodded.

His look softened seeing Purple, and Janster rubbed its head.

"I’m so glad you’re safe. Don’t worry, I won’t put you in too much danger in the future."

"Krrk krrk krrk!"

[ Bond level increased ]

The window appeared again in front of Jaster.

"Now that I think about it, let’s see how much we’ve bonded throughout that train drama."

Jaster poked Purple’s belly, and it accidentally dropped the grape.

"CHAAAAAA!"

Purple could only watch as its grape fell to the ground. Its tiny hands were unable to reach it.

Bond Level: 8%

———•●•———

"Nice, I think last time I checked it was 3%." Jaster closed the window.

"At this point, we’ll get 20% in no time, and we’re gonna unlock your camouflage ability!"

Jaster smiled, seeing the sad Purple.

He said it’s a camouflage ability. But deep down, there’s no telling what might change later in the future.

Because Jaster is 100% sure that Joker is supposed to be an infamous person in Boundara right now in the story. And people not knowing him is not normal.

He let out a huge sigh.

"I just hope the special bond exam is the same as it is in the game..."

"Hey, buddy."

Jaster heard a girl’s voice behind him. He turned around to see Annie waving at him while wearing a long black coat.

Beside her, there were two bodyguards, probably because of what she just experienced.

"Annie—"

She interrupted him by leaping towards him with a crushing hug.

"ANNIE.... I’M GONNA DIE—"

Both of the bodyguards looked confused about what to do.

"Ok. Ok, ok, I’m sorry, haha!" She finally let go of Jaster and patted his hair as if he were a dog.

"What’re you doing here? Aren’t you supposed to be in the hospital?" He asked.

"I am, but first, I wanted to give you something." Annie reached into her coat pocket.

She stopped for a bit, as if hesitating. But she took a deep breath and handed Jaster a sheet of paper.

"What’s this?" He accepted it, and when he opened it, Jaster’s whole world collapsed.

"It’s.. it’s my phone number." She tucked her hair behind her ears.

"Let’s hang out sometimes... after I recover from my injuries—"

Annie’s face blushed; she couldn’t finish her sentence and bowed to Jaster before immediately running away.

"I’ll... meet you again, Janster!!" She waved at him, leaving the dumbfounded bodyguards.

The bodyguards soon followed.

Jaster was sitting on an ambulance car, not knowing what to do, holding a girl’s phone number.

"Krrk." Purple jumped out of his shoulder and chewed on the edge of the paper.

"PURPLE... THIS IS PRECIOUS TO ME."

While playing a tug-of-war with Purpleberry, a window appeared in front of him.
