My SSS-Rank Class Is Blood Monarch!-Chapter 357 - - Master Of Chaos
Previously, Arthur's view of the mana in the air was rather one-dimensional. In his head, he treated it exactly like he would treat his own mana. But, that was a huge flaw in his understanding.
There was simply no ground for comparison between the two even if they had the same name. It was like apples and oranges, both are fruits, but they are nowhere near close to each other and that was the case for the mana in the body and the mana floating in the air.
The reason Arthur failed to replicate that pattern was that it was never meant to be replicated. He wasn't a primal existence to be able to replicate such chaos with thoughtful decisions. So, what was the alternative?
Arthur simply decided to let go. He stopped controlling his mana completely and let it loose, giving it all the space to move around as it wished without any orders from him. Such a notion was completely new to him and it sounded really stupid at first since controlling mana was like a second nature to him at that point.
However, the idea itself sounded rather attractive and quite surprising. He didn't know how he even thought of that but he decided to try it as a last resort. He had nothing else to lose since he was basically stuck with death being the only plausible outcome from this battle.
Almost from the very first try, as he ran and as he unleashed all his mana without controlling it, something very interesting happened. His mana almost immediately started blending with the outside mana, quickly taking its shape as if it was gladly embracing it.
Arthur was quite shocked by this instant reaction from his own mana, he didn't even think it would be this easy. The attempt passed with flying colors. That was when he noticed his own body starting to become almost a part of the environment. It was a rather odd feeling that he couldn't describe but it was real.
Arthur was… camouflaging.
At the same time, the monster attacked him. Its speed and accuracy were still terrifying and the boy couldn't react in time. Except, this time, and under the boy's gaze, the monster attacked a completely different spot from where he was.
'Oh!!' Arthur's eyes widened. 'It worked!!'
Seeing himself dodging an attack from this monster for the first time alone made the boy want to cry from happiness. Hope was finally appearing in the distance.
Upon that discovery, suddenly, the entire battle started shifting. The boy continued running as he tried to do the exact same things he just did. Although the first attempt succeeded, Arthur still could feel a struggle from his mana to blend with the environment.
There was still a part of Arthur that wanted to control the energy and it was affecting the process heavily. So, Arthur focused on simply running and dodging while trying to figure out how to improve his camouflage.
The fact he still hadn't acquired the skill itself and the system didn't alert him to it meant that he hadn't made that step yet.
'It's like a subconscious thing for me to control mana… I need to somehow stop myself from doing that.' He clenched his teeth.
Meanwhile, the monster continues chasing him, attacking relentlessly. But, the ratio of attacks that hit and the attacks that missed had been turned upside down. With each attempt, the monster realized that the task was becoming harder and harder.
The boy was somehow disappearing and appearing everywhere. It was so fast that even the monster didn't know whether it was an illusion or if the boy had truly gained several levels of speed out of nowhere.
"You can't catch me anymore, huh? Come on, I'm here, you bastard!" Arthur yelled with a wide grin as he dodged another attack with great proficiency. The monster was growing visibly angrier as time passed.
However, it was also aware that it wasn't completely hopeless. Although Arthur could dodge it now, he was still far from able to fully nullify all of its attacks. His attempts succeeded sometimes and failed other times. The battle was still not over.
Arthur knew that very well and that was why he opted to provoke the monster and make it outraged. He wanted to buy as much time as possible for himself to figure out how to use Exo-Burst.
*BANG*
"Tsk!!"
Several attacks later, Arthur couldn't successfully implement the camouflage, so he was slammed into the ground. But, he quickly recovered and continued running.
'Just let loose, Arthur! You've been doing that your entire life! I just need to do it now too! More than ever!' He cursed as he tried to completely throw any shred of focus he might've put on his mana.
His only solution to this subconscious control was to simply detach himself from his own mana and let it completely move on its own.
*Swish*
"Close!" Bending forward, Arthur dodged a flying arm that almost swept him away. "But too far!"
For the next several minutes, the fight kept going back and forth, a true game of cat and mouse. With each passing second, Arthur's ability was improving and his camouflage was becoming better and better.
He was still unable to make that leap forward and finally acquire the skill and it was only making him more and more frustrated. It was within arm's reach and yet he couldn't figure it out completely.
'Let loose… Completely lose control.' Arthur thought to himself. Even as he was being chased by the hideous creature and his body was completely wrecked with deep bruises and even several broken ribs, he didn't let that make him lose his focus on one single task.
However, what Arthur didn't notice at that moment amidst the chaos was that his body was undergoing changes slowly. As his mana expanded and mixed with the mana outside, some of that environmental mana slowly seeped into his body with a lot more ease.
Inside him, the two forms of mana mixed together as they coursed through his veins. The process was considerably slow due to its nature but as it slowly accumulated within minutes, Arthur's body reacted to it. One particular organ that felt it the most was his brain.

The chaotic mana made Arthur's mind a little more sharp, yet also a little more… primal. Amidst all the exhaustion and his desperate attempts to try and dodge and even counter, the mana was able to easily access his mind and play with it as it wished.
All of Arthur's emotions are heightened to a whole new level. His red eyes flickered with a faint light of madness and anger.
"COME ON! YOU'RE SO SLOW!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs.
The monster screeched back in response and increased the intensity of its attacks, throwing all sense of wariness out of the window. It could smell it, the nearing death of its prey. It felt greedy, to take that one last hit to kill it.
"THAT'S IT!!!" Arthur yelled back as he suddenly turned around and dashed back, heading straight toward the monster.
For a moment there, Arthur completely… Lost his mind.
