My Stubborn Soul Card Follower-Chapter 550 - 419: Alice’s Knight Belt (Fog)
After descending a few more levels, Alice and Laudon finally arrived at the game’s Dwarf Layer.
It’s just a pity that, after a thousand years, the dwarves here had long since left, leaving behind only Shen Sui’s fishing box and a dried-up water bucket nearby.
Laudon opened the box, still puzzled: "Why are there fish in this box?"
Alice glanced at the bucket beside them and said, "Maybe they were fished out of the bucket."
Laudon looked at Alice helplessly, feeling quite resigned, thinking she was truly a girl with no common sense at all.
How could fish possibly be fished out of a bucket?
The box contained no ores or gems, but Laudon spotted some magical items and a large number of magic potions.
"Miss Alice, you should take these potions," Laudon said to Alice, "consider it a replenishment for the potions you’ve consumed along the way."
Laudon no longer viewed Alice as a burden. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
If it weren’t for her support with potions along the way, Laudon estimated he would have stopped dozens of levels ago.
"But I didn’t expect Miss Alice to have such high-quality potions," Laudon said with a smile. Regular magic potions more or less have some side effects.
Even if they don’t harm the body, they might have addictive properties.
But the potions Alice handed him were perfect, so much so that they could be drunk like water, with no side effects whatsoever.
Of course, these were top-grade potions provided by the game.
Laudon clasped his hands together, seemingly murmuring something in his heart, then pocketed a bottle of potion and handed the rest to Alice.
"Take as much as you can," Laudon said to Alice.
The Twilight Bishop’s treasure box could hold far more than the legends suggested, and even though over a hundred treasure boxes had been opened, Laudon still couldn’t understand why this box could hold so much.
Then, something he couldn’t comprehend happened again.
Alice directly stored all the potions into her Storage Ring.
Is this girl’s Storage Ring really this large?
Laudon was astonished.
Actually, Alice was also panicking. She initially thought of taking some potions, but who knew the treasure box wouldn’t give her a choice and simply dumped all the potions into her ring.
"Well, that’s good," Laudon said, looking deeply at Alice, "the road ahead is long, and we really need these potions."
He then stopped overanalyzing matters and turned to lead Alice further into the depths of the mine.
On the hundred and tenth level, the monsters they encountered had become terrifying beyond Laudon’s imagination.
With just a slight lapse, Laudon was heavily struck by one of the monsters, forcing him to down the potion he had just pocketed in one go, barely stabilizing the situation and counter-killing the monster.
Looking at the fallen monster’s corpse, Laudon frowned deeply.
He lowered his head and glanced at the potion in his hand, lost in thought.
"Are you alright, Lord Laudon?" Alice asked, still with that obedient demeanor.
Laudon gazed deeply at Alice and proposed, "The strength of the monsters here exceeds my expectations. Going further might be even more dangerous. You’re not strong enough, it’s too risky for you to go down. I should escort you out. I think the War God Church at the entrance should have already given up on retreating."
Alice saw the scars all over Laudon and knew that the road ahead would likely be very hard, and if Laudon left with her, she would agree without hesitation. But if they acted separately and Laudon headstrongly died in the mine, that would be fine. If he managed to leave by chance, then the fact that she could open Claude’s treasure box might get exposed...
Alice hesitated.
"Or, you could wait for me in that Dwarf Cave," Laudon suggested when he saw Alice hesitating. "It seems like a safe house in the mine, relatively very safe."
"Since it’s dangerous, why don’t we leave together?" Alice quickly said, "The Giant Crown is just symbolic, it doesn’t matter if we can’t get it, right?"
Laudon, however, said, "I have more important matters to complete. I must find that treasure box."
It turned out that Lauton came to the Thousand-Year Mine not for the Giant Crown.
"That’s not acceptable," Alice quickly said, "I can’t leave you to go down alone."
Alice said very firmly, and she knew that if things got to a critical point, she could rely on Sister Qishala’s Dragon Scale to escape.
Looking at the resolute Alice, Laudon sighed and said, "Alright then, make sure to keep close to me. From now on, we’ll proceed with stealthily."
After saying this, Laudon tossed Alice a black ring.
[Ding! You’ve acquired an Equipment Card: Ring of Star Night]
When Alice received the ring, the rich aura of the Star Night Goddess almost activated the Star Night Chosen One power within her.
Laudon had thrown to Alice an artifact blessed by the Star Night Goddess.
"With this, we can hide in the shadows. As long as we don’t get close to monsters, they won’t detect us," Laudon explained to Alice.
"If you had this, why didn’t you bring it out earlier?" Alice asked, puzzled.
I wasted so many potions for nothing.
Laudon displayed a proud expression and said, "I wanted to see how my strength measures up to the bishop’s level."
As he said this, he heaved a sigh, saying, "It seems I’m still far from it."
Alice was rendered speechless.
Damn, the fool was me all along, she thought to herself.
