Chapter 150: Tough Owl

The injured sorcerer knelt inside his trembling barrier while the green glow of the sky washed over the battlefield like poisonous moonlight. His body shook with exhaustion and pain, yet the moment he saw the figure descending from the clouds his fear melted away and twisted into wild joy.

He pushed himself up on trembling legs and pointed toward the Moonshade vampires outside the barrier.

"You are all dead!" he shouted, his voice cracking with excitement. "Do you hear me? Every single one of you is dead!"

His laughter echoed across the battlefield.

The vampires stared at him coldly, though many of them could feel the crushing weight of the newcomer’s mana pressing against their chests like a heavy stone.

The injured sorcerer wiped the blood from his lips and raised his head proudly toward the floating figure above.

"You fools don’t understand what kind of person you forced me to summon," he continued, his voice growing louder with every word. "The one standing above you is not just some wandering mage or low tower scholar. That man is a genius of the Emerald Tower, a master of destructive magic whose name is feared across three kingdoms!"

His arm stretched upward as if presenting a king to his audience.

"That is my senior brother. A direct disciple of the Fifth Circle Master. The one who burned an entire demon nest in a single night. The one who crushed a war beast army alone during the Black Valley battle. The one who shattered the Silver Coast pirates and turned their ships into floating ash."

His eyes burned with pride.

"You vampires should feel honored that someone like him even looked at this battlefield."

The green glow in the sky continued to swirl behind the newcomer sorcerer as he floated calmly in the air. His robes drifted slowly as though carried by invisible currents of power.

The injured sorcerer’s voice became louder.

"You thought that stupid bird would save you. You thought a few blood tricks could stop someone from the Emerald Tower."

He laughed again.

"You insects really thought you had a chance?"

The Moonshade vampires remained silent for a moment.

Many of them could feel the immense difference between their own mana and the aura surrounding the newcomer. His power was vast and cold like an endless ocean.

Several younger vampires exchanged uneasy glances.

But then a rough voice broke the silence.

Ancestor Ghurn stepped forward slowly.

The old vampire’s white hair moved gently in the heavy air as he lifted his chin toward the floating sorcerer.

His voice was calm.

"The Moonshade family has faced death before."

Rivik looked toward him.

Ghurn continued speaking without hesitation.

"If we are meant to die here today, then so be it."

For a moment the battlefield became quiet.

Then several voices rose from behind him.

"Yes!"

"We are ready!"

"We will not kneel!"

The younger vampires stepped forward with burning eyes.

Rivik clenched his fists and moved beside Ghurn.

Noir stood at his other side with a dark expression.

Zenaya raised her blood blade and pointed it toward the sky.

"We will fight," she said firmly.

The injured sorcerer stared at them like they were mad.

The newcomer sorcerer, however, only laughed softly.

His voice carried calm contempt.

"You people talk too much."

He slowly descended a few more meters until he hovered closer to the ground.

"You are nothing but insects crawling around in mud," he continued. "Do not make it sound like dying to me is some kind of glorious moment."

His eyes swept across the group of vampires with cold indifference.

"There is no honor here. There is only extermination."

The vampires tightened their grip on their weapons.

The air grew heavier as the newcomer’s mana expanded further across the battlefield.

Then—

A sound cut through the tension.

"Sqaaawwrk!"

It was loud.

Raw.

Furious.

Every head snapped toward the massive crater where the Blood Owl had fallen earlier.

Dust began rising from the deep hole.

A massive shadow moved beneath the broken earth.

The newcomer sorcerer froze.

The injured sorcerer blinked in disbelief.

The vampires stared silently.

Then the ground exploded.

The Blood Owl burst out of the crater with a violent scream, its enormous wings throwing dirt and stone into the air like a storm of knives.

Its crimson feathers were covered in dust and cracks, but its eyes still burned with savage life.

The newcomer sorcerer’s expression changed for the first time.

His eyebrows lifted slightly.

"That beast..."

The vampires were stunned.

Zenaya whispered quietly.

"It’s alive?"

Rivik’s jaw tightened.

"That spell sent it deep underground..."

Ancestor Ghurn narrowed his eyes.

"And yet it stands again."

The injured sorcerer inside the barrier stared at the owl like he had just seen a ghost.

His lips trembled.

"That... that thing is still alive?"

He rubbed his eyes and looked again.

The owl flapped its wings once, shaking off the dust covering its body.

Its gaze locked onto the newcomer sorcerer.

The injured sorcerer swallowed hard.

"That shit is not dead yet!?"

His mind raced wildly.

He turned toward the floating figure beside him.

Senior brother was a master of destructive spells. The Emerald Tower had trained him in countless killing techniques. If anyone could destroy that monstrous bird, it should be him.

But the owl was still alive.

How?

His thoughts raced with confusion.

Meanwhile the newcomer sorcerer looked down calmly. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Then he nodded once.

"I see."

His voice remained steady.

"I only spared that beast earlier."

The injured sorcerer blinked.

"You... spared it?"

The newcomer lifted his hand casually.

"Yes."

His eyes returned to the Blood Owl.

"I hoped to tame it later."

The vampires stiffened.

The sorcerer continued calmly.

"But it seems the creature still needs discipline."

His fingers flicked lightly.

A massive emerald magic circle appeared in the air above the owl.

Energy gathered instantly.

Then—

BOOM.

A beam of violent mana slammed into the Blood Owl.

The explosion shook the battlefield as the owl was blasted downward again.

Its enormous body crashed into the ground and vanished beneath shattered rock.

Dust rose everywhere.

The newcomers robes fluttered gently as he lowered his hand.

"There," he said calmly.

They all waited.

The battlefield fell silent except for drifting dust.

Seconds passed.

Then the ground trembled again.

The owl rose once more.

Its wings spread wide as it climbed out of the crater again.

The newcomer sorcerer frowned.

The injured sorcerer stared with wide eyes.

"It got up again..."

The newcomer’s pride flickered.

His hand rose again.

Another magic circle appeared.

BOOM.

The spell struck the owl.

The beast crashed back down.

The ground shook violently.

Again they waited.

Again the owl stood up.

The newcomer’s eyes narrowed.

His voice grew colder.

"Annoying creature."

He attacked again.

And again.

And again.

Massive emerald spells rained down like meteors.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

Each strike blasted the Blood Owl into the ground.

Each explosion shattered more of the battlefield.

Each time the owl vanished beneath the rubble.

Each time it rose again.

The newcomer’s calm expression slowly hardened.

His attacks grew faster.

Stronger.

The spells roared through the air like storms.

BOOM.

BOOM.

BOOM.

The owl continued falling.

And rising.

Falling.

And rising again.

Yet something strange began happening.

Rivik was the first to notice.

He whispered slowly.

"It’s moving closer."

Noir blinked.

"What?"

Zenaya looked again.

The owl did fall again and again.

But each time it rose, it stood slightly closer to the newcomer sorcerer.

Ancestor Ghurn narrowed his eyes.

"That creature is advancing."

The injured sorcerer finally noticed as well.

His face turned pale.

"Senior brother..."

But the newcomer kept attacking.

Another spell formed above his hand.

The owl spread its wings.

The magic circle fired.

But this time—

The owl moved.

Its massive body twisted in mid air.

The spell missed.

BOOM.

The blast struck the ground behind it.

The newcomer’s eyes widened slightly.

The owl screamed and lunged forward.

Its wings cut through the air like blades.

Before the sorcerer could react—

BANG.

The owl’s body slammed directly into him.

The impact exploded like thunder.

The newcomer sorcerer’s body flew backward violently.

His ribs cracked from the force.

He crashed directly into the injured sorcerer’s barrier.

The shield shattered instantly.

Both men were thrown into the air together.

Their bodies tumbled across the sky like broken dolls.

They smashed through rocks and dirt before finally crashing into the ground dozens of meters away.

Dust erupted everywhere.

The battlefield fell silent.

The newcomer sorcerer slowly pushed himself up from the crater where he had landed.

His robes were torn.

Blood ran down his forehead.

For the first time genuine shock filled his eyes.

He stared at the Blood Owl standing across the battlefield.

His voice came out low and confused.

"My attacks... didn’t hurt it?"
