Chapter 35: Human Emperor emerges

Once Cain stepped out of the human plane, the world around him folded shut like a wound sealing itself.

The portal shrank behind him with a sharp hiss, its edges flickering before vanishing entirely, leaving only disturbed air and a faint pressure that slowly faded.

He hovered in the void between planes, massive blood wings beating in a slow and steady rhythm, their shadows stretching far beneath him.

Suspended behind him were several humans, still alive, still conscious, wrapped tightly in blood-forged bindings that clung to their bodies like living cloth. Their limbs were locked in place, their mana sealed, their faces pale with rage and fear as they struggled uselessly.

Cain glanced back at them, then turned his gaze forward, eyes narrowing.

"This is going to be annoying," he muttered. "If this little war spreads toward the Moonshade Family, it will ruin everything I prepared."

One of the humans spat blood and laughed despite himself. "You think you can decide where this goes?" he sneered. "Even the Human Emperor couldn’t move that portal with all his magic. You think you can?"

Another added, voice shaking but loud, "You’re just a bat stuck in the fourth stage of Blood Infusion. A joke.".

Cain slowly turned his head.

The air felt colder.

His lips curved into a thin smile. "This fourth stage Blood Infusion Realm," he said softly, "has you floating like corpses that forgot how to fall."

The bindings tightened without warning. Bones creaked. The humans choked as pressure crushed their lungs. Their laughter died instantly.

Cain closed his eyes for a moment, as if thinking, then lifted one hand. His fingers sharpened into crimson claws with a wet sound. Without warning, he reached out and drove two fingers into one man’s face.

A scream ripped through the void.

Cain tore the eye free in one smooth motion. Blood burst outward, floating in the air like scattered rubies. The man thrashed violently, his scream breaking into hoarse sobs as blood streamed down his face.

Cain watched him calmly.

"Good," he murmured. "The blood is strong enough."

He let the eye dissolve in his palm, crimson mist swirling as he spread both arms wide. Blood runes ignited in the air around him, forming circles upon circles, layered and complex, symbols older than written magic slowly carving themselves into existence.

Cain’s voice dropped, low and steady, chanting words that twisted the space around him. The blood responded instantly, vibrating, pulling outward, threading itself through the void like veins seeking a heart.

The humans screamed as their blood resonated with the ritual. Their bodies arched, veins glowing red beneath their skin as Cain’s magic reached inside them, not to kill, but to anchor.

He carved symbols in the air with his claws, each stroke slow and precise, his face tightening with focus. Blood smoke poured from his coat and wings, spreading outward, wrapping around the forming spell like a cocoon.

Time stretched.

The void trembled.

Cain’s chant deepened, layered with meaning, binding space, direction, and destination together. He offered blood, not as fuel, but as command, forcing the ritual to obey his will.

At last, he stopped.

The runes froze, then sank inward, vanishing completely.

Cain opened his eyes.

He stared forward for a long moment, then let out a quiet laugh.

"...Perfect."

Far away, in the heart of the Chimera Ant Empire, the sky split open without warning.

A massive crack formed above the capital city, stretching like shattered glass across the heavens. Citizens stopped in the streets, heads tilting upward, confusion spreading as the light changed color.

"What is that?"

"Is it a tear in the sky?"

"Is it a sign from the Emperor?"

The crack widened, golden light pouring out like a flood. Wind roared downward, flattening banners and tearing tiles from rooftops. Panic spread as people pointed, shouted, and began to run.

Then a figure descended.

He was wrapped in blinding light, his presence alone crushing the air. Holy energy erupted from his body in violent waves, each pulse shattering buildings and vaporizing anything it touched.

He did not speak.

He raised his hand.

Light fell.

The city screamed.

Golden and white explosions tore through the streets, disintegrating civilians where they stood. Towers collapsed. Roads split open. The ground burned with sacred fire as people fled, only to be erased moments later.

From the palace, alarms sounded.

The Chimera Ant Emperor felt it instantly.

He rose from his throne, the room darkening as his aura flared. "What is that pressure?" he growled.

Officials rushed in, faces pale. "Your Majesty, something has breached the sky above the capital!"

The Emperor stepped forward, his form blurring as he vanished from the throne room.

He appeared high above the city, staring at the figure floating amid the destruction.

His eyes widened.

"...Another Emperor."

The golden man turned, light shifting as his gaze locked onto the Chimera Ant Emperor. For a moment, neither moved.

Then the human spoke.

"We cannot allow your kind to spread further," the Human Emperor said, his voice echoing across the ruined city. "Your existence threatens our world."

The Chimera Ant Emperor snarled. "You invade my capital and speak of threats?"

Their auras collided, the air between them warping violently.

"This was not my choice," the Human Emperor replied. "But you forced our hand."

They circled each other slowly, power building, the city below reduced to rubble and fire.

"If we fight here," the Chimera Ant Emperor said coldly, "this plane will suffer."

The Human Emperor’s jaw tightened. "Then we end it quickly."

Far from both worlds, Cain hovered in silence, watching through blood reflections that rippled across his eyes. He leaned back slightly, amused.

"Fight," he chuckled. "Exhaust yourselves."

He folded his wings and laughed softly, the sound carrying faintly through the void.

"Once you are done tearing each other apart," he murmured, "I will dry the blood of you both."

Then his smile faltered.

Cain’s head snapped to the side.

His expression darkened.

"...She’s waking up."

Without another word, his wings snapped open and he vanished in a streak of crimson, leaving laughter and blood behind as the worlds began to burn.
