Chapter 105: Clash

Chapter 103

Ray had merely blinked, and in that microscopic span of time, the mysterious werewolf had closed a distance of five meters.

It was absurdly fast—bordering on the impossible.

Luckily, Ray’s survival instincts were surprisingly sharp.

Even though he was caught off guard by the sheer velocity, he had anticipated an aggressive opening move.

Crackle—!

Zip—!

With the aid of lightning crackling violently around his feet, he managed to zip aside, narrowly dodging a heavy punch that had been aimed at destroying his handsome face only a moment ago.

"Hm? Fast, eh? I love it," the werewolf uttered.

In a flash, he disappeared and materialized before Ray once again.

His fingers, now shaped into predatory claws, slashed downward at incredible speed.

Yet, Ray managed to avoid the lethal swipe with the aid of his lightning-enhanced reflexes.

To any onlooker, it would have looked like he was... running on air?

The werewolf spun on his heels, pursuing him relentlessly with a targeted punch from the flank.

However, with an effortless tilt of his head, Ray avoided the strike.

His eyes remained locked on the opponent, who was grinning as if he were enjoying himself throughly.

"Come on, bro, why are you just dodging? Can’t you actually attack?"

"I’m not," Ray muttered as a low kick swooped in from below, threatening to smash into his chin.

With a giant leap backward, he avoided the strike by a wide margin.

"Not what?" the werewolf asked with a raised brow, immediately dashing toward the Aspirant.

"... I’m not your bro!" Ray shouted.

In a sudden motion, he swung his hands into the air.

Lines of energy—the same serrated type that had almost caught his head a while ago—streaked through the atmosphere toward the werewolf at blazing speed.

"Oh? You can use ’Rending’? Impressive," the werewolf remarked with a smirk.

He began leaping from side to side with feline grace, the energy blades missing him by a few inches as they struck the forest floor with a repeated, low bang.

It was as if the werewolf were weaving between the attacks like a ghost.

Ray didn’t relent; he kept channeling more energy toward his foe to maintain a safe distance.

But for some reason, the werewolf was closing the gap between them with terrifying efficiency.

Lightning fizzled around Ray’s hands in wild, erratic arcs.

Without hesitation, he hurled concentrated strikes of lightning toward the encroaching wolf.

"Oh?" The werewolf’s eyes lit up with genuine excitement.

He instantly halted his charge and proceeded to lean his body all the way backward, showing off an inhuman level of flexibility.

The back of his head almost touched his heels as the strikes of lightning swooshed past him and collided with a nearby tree.

Bang—!

The explosion went off in an instant, showering the area in sparks.

The werewolf shot upright to his full height, only to find Ray directly in his face.

Ray’s hand was already swinging toward the werewolf’s jaw.

Given the speed of the movement and the relatively short reach, the werewolf felt confident about evading it.

His toes dug deep into the soil as he prepared to leap back.

However, before he could completely distance himself, Ray’s fingers fully elongated into deadly, sharp claws.

The unexpected extension caught the werewolf by surprise.

The tips grazed his chest, ripping his shirt apart in a clean line but fortunately not harming the skin beneath.

He landed a few meters away, staring in genuine shock at Ray, who glared back with intensity.

’I knew he was another werewolf, but why am I so surprised by those claws?’ the stranger wondered.

Ray wasn’t about to let the werewolf catch his breath.

The very next second, he exploded forward at full speed, catching the teen wolf off guard.

What followed was a complete blur of speed between the two combatants.

Claws lashed through the air in fierce, desperate strikes as they moved around the clearing.

Ray was currently pressing forward with all his might, his claws lashing out wildly yet at a deadly velocity, aiming for the wolf’s eyes or any exposed opening.

The werewolf, on the other hand, remained calm.

He was currently weaving, ducking, and dodging the strikes as if they meant nothing to him.

His eyes were composed, analytically observing every one of Ray’s movements.

Suddenly, a claw slipped past his defense, but in a flash, he lifted his own hand, his claws finally coming forth in full.

Clang—!

The stranger blocked Ray’s claws with a metallic screech, sparks flying between their talons for a tense, flickering moment.

A grin widened on the wolf’s face as he stared into Ray’s eyes, seemingly savoring the friction of the struggle.

Then, with blistering speed that defied the laws of physics, his leg shot forward.

It smashed into Ray’s abdomen with crushing force, the impact so sudden and violent that it caused the boy to cough out a spray of saliva.

He reeled backward, his vision swimming as incredible pain radiated from his core.

Yet, the werewolf was relentless.

He didn’t grant his opponent a single moment of respite, reappearing before him in the blink of an eye.

Ray saw the blur and desperately proceeded to throw a counter-punch, but the werewolf easily sidestepped the hit with a mocking fluidity.

That annoying, permanent grin remained etched on his face as he countered with a lightning-fast kick aimed at Ray’s ribs.

But, as if instinctively reading the minute shifts in the wolf’s balance, the Tribrid’s hands moved in a blur, blocking the kick firmly with his forearms.

The ground beneath the duo cracked badly under the sheer pressure of the collision.

Ray pressed his toes hard into the dirt, fighting to ground himself and stay upright rather than being sent flying through the treeline.

’How much raw strength does this guy even possess? Why am I finding it so difficult to hold him back?’ Ray wondered inwardly, his pupils darting around the wolf’s body, searching for any subtle sign of a follow-up attack.

’What an interesting specimen,’ the stranger thought simultaneously.

"You might want to look below you," the werewolf warned playfully.

Swooosh—!

Two jagged lines of energy burst from beneath the werewolf’s stationary leg, streaking toward Ray’s feet at full speed.

With a powerful, reactive leap into the air, Ray avoided the ground-level assault all too easily.

Only for the werewolf to leap into the sky after him.

The stranger delivered a precision punch into Ray’s guts mid-air, causing the Tribrid to cough out more saliva as his breath hitched painfully in his throat.

Ray’s panicked eyes caught sight of the smiling werewolf as they both began their descent.

Using Ray’s body as a temporary foothold, the werewolf pushed off and landed smoothly on the grass.

The Tribrid was forced to flip several times in mid-air to stabilize himself before he finally landed hard on his knees.

He barely had time to breathe before the werewolf appeared in front of him again, launching a heavy downward kick.

Ray threw his arms up, instantly blocking the strike.

Then, with lightning charging under his feet in a brilliant display of power, Ray pushed off with incredible force.

The sudden surge threw the werewolf off balance, sending him staggering backward across the clearing.

Bang—!

Ray darted forward again, refusing to let the momentum shift back.

This time, lightning crackled around his hands with deadly, white-hot intensity.

He proceeded to hurl multiple bolts of electricity toward the retreating werewolf.

Bam—! Bam—! Bam—!

The werewolf avoided every strike with surprising agility, his body twisting in ways that seemed almost liquid.

Soon enough, he vanished and reappeared directly behind Ray—moving significantly faster than the boy could react.

The werewolf’s claws bolted toward the back of Ray’s head at breakneck speed.

They were mere inches from cleaving his head off when, suddenly, the air hummed.

A bright white light manifested in the narrow space between the werewolf’s claws and his victim’s neck.

Within a fraction of a second, a small, circular, and pristinely white shield appeared out of thin air.

Bam—!

Booom—!

The ground cracked badly beneath their feet as the kinetic energy of the blow was absorbed.

To the werewolf’s absolute horror and shock, his lethal claws were stopped dead in their tracks by the shimmering barrier.
