My Ultimate OP System: Summoning All Dragons, Gods, Heroes & Villains-Chapter 96: Worldshift Breach(II): They Need Help!
Turns out he’d actually been counting how many Cannon Fists it took him to kill a B-Grade monster.
Across the battlefield, Ethan descended slowly back to the ground using Levitas. As his feet touched down near the burning corpse of his Lupamancer, something caught his eye.
A small yellow stone had rolled out from the creature’s mouth as it burned.
Ethan crouched down and picked it up carefully, turning it over in his palm. It was smooth and warm to the touch, with subtle veins of light pulsing through its surface.
[You have acquired: Yellow Sysilisia]
Then he made the stone disappear into his inventory. Ragnarok had already dissolved back into motes of light by the time he started walking back toward the group.
—
Percival’s beast form shifted back to his human appearance as he walked over with a grin plastered across his face.
"My boy has grown," he said, clapping Ethan on the shoulder. "Look at him now, fighting off monsters on his own."
Ethan scoffed and shook his head, but couldn’t help the smile tat his lips as they fist-bumped.
Yaris bounced over with that same excited energy she had been radiating. "So it’s not all true then," she said in a cheerful, playful tone. "The rumors in class, I mean. Some of you are actually strong!"
"Yaris..." Sallie said from behind her, looking like she wanted to crawl into a hole and disappear.
Percival’s ears perked up. "What? What are the rumors?"
Sallie’s face went pale as she lunged forward and slapped her hand over Yaris’s mouth before the girl could say another word.
But right in that moment, an explosion went off in the distance, and every single person in the group turned toward it.
Then suddenly, two flare shots fired in tandem, streaking into the red sky.
"They killed the—?" Percival started to say, but his words died out as a third flare shot went up.
Then a fourth after.
"What’s happening?" one of the team members asked, sounding utterly confused.
Ethan stared in that direction with his Eyes of the Sage still active. Without hesitation, he activated his Borrow skill, taking on Finn’s Eagle Eye passive.
His vision sharpened instantly, extending outward over a distance of two kilometers.
But Ethan wasn’t just seeing two kilometers. His Amplification trait automatically doubled the range, extending his sight to four kilometers, all while being further enhanced by the unique clarity granted by the Eyes of the Sage.
And what he saw made those eyes widen in terror.
"The flare shots are panic shots," Ethan said urgently. "They’re in need of immediate help."
Without giving it another thought, he cast his flight spell.
A purple glow appeared beneath his feet and lifted him gently into the sky. Then he ascended rapidly upward before launching himself forward in a sonic boom that kicked up a massive cloud of dust behind him.
"Wait, Ethan!" Percival called out, shocked at the sudden move.
But Ethan was already gone.
The six remaining members of the team immediately broke into a sprint toward the same direction, with Percival leading the way as he shifted back into his werewolf form and pounced forward on all fours.
——
On that part of the field, it wasn’t looking good.
Of the seven students who had been in that group, five were already running for their lives in multiple directions.
One girl sat on the ground sobbing uncontrollably, while clutching her bleeding knee with trembling hands.
And Anna stood over her with both arms raised high above her head. Blue magic circles hovered over each palm as she maintained a bluish spherical barrier that surrounded both herself and the injured girl.
The barrier flickered with every impact as it faced multiple assaults from several creatures slamming their weapons against it over and over again.
The creatures themselves looked humanoid in shape but were covered in what looked like black armor. Their faces were featureless except for glowing orange slits where eyes should have been.
Each one carried crude short swords made from what looked like sharpened bone.
A few dozen meters away, another creature watched from a distance. This one was different.
It was slightly taller than the others and held an actual weapon: it was proper sword. In its other hand, it gripped a thick chain that was attached to something being dragged behind it.
The head of a Lupamancer.
The beast’s palm-like head twitched and snapped continuously, snarling as it strained against the chain. The creature holding it treated the monster like a leashed attack dog, keeping it restrained for now while watching the chaos unfold.
Ethan arrived in the skies above and hovered for a moment as he took in the full scope of what was happening below.
Anna’s arms were shaking. Her barrier flickered again as another creature slammed its sword against it with enough force to send cracks across its surface.
She was about to break.
The other students scattered across the field were being chased down by more of those creatures. One boy tripped and fell hard onto his face just as two of them closed in on him with weapons raised.
Ethan’s face was tense as he registered the level of danger these creatures possessed.
"Nina!" he called out.
In that instant, the half-dragon summon materialized in purple motes of light beside him, mid-air. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
She appeared with nothing beneath her feet to stand on, but in the same fluid motion, she flipped her longsword flat beneath her boots and kicked off it like a springboard.
The compressed air beneath her erupted outward in a violent burst as she launched herself through the sky at high speed toward the monsters striking at Anna’s barrier.
Anna’s hands trembled. Her arms were about to give out, the barrier flickered one last time—
BOOM!
Nina’s landing created a catastrophic impact, sending a shockwave outward in all directions and hurling several creatures around Anna backward.
When the dust cleared, Nina stood at the ready with her Shield of Pythos raised in her left hand and her Longsword of Pythos gripped firmly in her right.
Her expression was cold and focused as she positioned herself directly between Anna and the monsters.
Anna’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the armored figure who had just appeared out of nowhere to protect her.
Ethan’s attention had turned toward the other creatures racing after the fleeing students. He extended both hands forward, and in flashes of white light, Finn’s twin revolvers materialized in his grip.
He borrowed Finn’s Precision Shot skill in the next instant and began firing rapidly at precise points toward the monsters chasing down the students.
